The room is really nicely designed. There is a jacuzzi available next to it. The breakfast is fabulous and delivered in front of your room. The property is huge and you can go hiking/running at your convenience.

This was the perfect combo, pool and jacuzzi outdoor, and the rooms has their own jacuzzi. Super comfortable rooms, the pictures match exactly what we found. Breakfast baskets were sweet and good. Was a rainy week and was perfect, staying in hot jacuzzi outdoor and feel that rain falling. Awesome. They are wine producers and you can have wine tasting. You can also order food from some places and they deliver into the rooms. You can stay and enjoy full time. Definitely a place to return.

a tranquil place. the best place to connect with nature. the breakfast was very nice, they brought a wicker basket with food and left it right before the door)) very cute. even though it was cool outside, we had an amazing time in a big jacuzzi outside. the house was very bright and spacious, very clean. there was also a jacuzzi in the room. enjoyed it a lot

We found this hotel at the last minute after travelling to the North of Portugal and will definitely be returning. The hotel is a new building of modern design which we found to be very comfortable and clean coupled to very good service. Staff are very friendly, welcoming and accommodating. The breakfast was very fresh with a good selection for all tastes. The rooms themselves are quite big and there is an excellent bar and lounge to relax in.

I loved this hotel. It's a beautiful environment and for us was in a central location to travel to nearby towns and villages but it's really the people that make Portugal and they don't come much better than every single member of staff at this hotel...totally professional, the perfect mix of impeccable manners, politeness and friendliness and a total credit to this establishment. I would love to see this new hotel grow into a strong brand because it would be a brand I would return to again and again. Fabulous breakfast was included. A tiny niggle but I wish that management would make the private room terraces on the third floor more spatially and aesthetically pleasing in order to compliment the beautiful view and remain in keeping with the rest of the hotel. A minor gripe but it would make this place perfect in my opinion.

Staff is extremely polite and helpful. Bedrooms are spacious, clean with very comfortable beds. Bar had great choice of drinks and bar snacks.

We loved the hotel, the staff was very nice and gave us a room upgrade and complimentary wine at the bar for the birthday. The room was very nice and clean, also with a beautiful view. We loved our stay there, I would recommend booking this hotel for your stay. Breakfast was also very good. If you want to park underground hotel garage with a bigger car then the hotel parking garage entrance is too narrow, we had a wide car and couldn't get in, but there were parking spots on the streets also so you can still get a parking spot.

It is a very nice and moder hotel which you do not expect to find in such a small city. Very nice lobby area and very helpfull staff in the bar. Bar prices for food and drink were very reasonanble. The room had a good size and was very clean and modern, The hotel is in the city center and near the shopping area.

I specially enjoyed the location, the beautiful surrounding gardens , the outside swimming- pools(two for adults and one for children) the spa with two interior pools and jacuzzi. The room was spacious and the staff very friendly. Breakfast was delicious. Everything was excellent.

The location is perfect, surrounded by hills and with a view to the river. It offers the perfect nature getaway with comfort. The spa has two swimming pools, one adults only. The room was spotless and the cleaning team, restaurant staff and receptionists were exceptional. The breakfast was also very good from fresh fruits and bread, to good Portuguese cheese, and some homemade cakes and cookies. Also English breakfast available. The exterior playground was maintained and had a sand box. My only suggestion would be a room for children to play.

Good breakfast, very comfortable room with balcony, bathroom very good. Great location with beautiful views. Easy onsite parking for our motorbike. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The outdoor pool areas were lovely also the garden areas with some attractive plants.

The location... the pictures don't even do it justice, it's outstanding. The pools were glorious. And the staff, muito obrigada to each and every one of you, you made our stay so pleasant. It's so luxurious yet so relaxed, and ideal for children.

Its location is stunning. The room was lovely and the pool and gardens are delightful. Breakfast was good but a bit chaotic at popular times.

As usual clean and quiet facilities, receptionist Cristina was super kind and informative. I've stayed just one night but Ive been there several times. Inside and outside pool are great, the gym is good as well. Nice garden and nice pool view from the balcony.

Stayed here with my husband and two kids (aged 8 and 6), the hotel is beautiful and we had booked last minute, however the staff did their very best to accommodate our request for adjoining rooms. We had a lovely few days, using the beautiful pool, gym and exploring the local area. The hotel breakfast is great and the snack bar. On the last day, we had to leave very early for the airport and the hotel made us breakfast boxes for our journey, which was a thoughtful and much appreciated touch. I'd highly recommend this hotel and hope to stay again. Great location to stay for visiting Amarante water park and the town of Amarante.

The hotel was very basic but also very clean. The spa was great for relaxing. The room was clean, large and had a beautiful view of the river. Breakfast was varied and very good with traditional food. The hotel is located in a very calm place, next to the river, close to two restaurants and a bar to have a drink in the evening (there's only one bar in this place). Wifi in your room, fairly good signal...parking outside of the hotel.

Nice room with a view of hills. Comfortable. With more people in the hotel the sound carries. The spa is not hot but it was adequate for water aerobics. Good shower and internet in my room and spacious. Breakfast was amazing.

Very strange to find such a good hotel in one of the most depressing and rundown villages we've been to for quite some time. Everything about the hotel was very, very good.....The room, the spa, the staff and especially the restaurant both for dinner and breakfast were all way more than just OK. Clean, bright and modern. But the surrounding area seemed to be full of run down and derelict houses and what used to be hotels from the days when ' taking the waters ' was the fashion. Having said that, we enjoyed our one night stay enormously and would happily go back to stay next time we're in Resende.

Receptionist was not helpful with river cruises, pointed to brochures. It was end of tourist season so river cruises, restaurants were minimal. Rooms were large and clean.

The hotel is very clean and has a modern vibe. Our first room was a twin room and it was a little small. We upgraded for the suite and it was twice the size with a balcony and a view. Well worth the extra few $. The bed was very comfortable! The staff was very friendly and quick to help with anything you need. We will stay here again.

Always a pleasure to be back at Flag Hotel Celorico Palace! For the comfort and welcoming of the hotel and staff and also for the activities around the property. From visiting wine producing estates in the area to cycling on the eco-pista do Tamega surrounded by Nature. A relaxing break!

I liked the installations in general. Big room with a lot of commodities and coffee machine as a courtesy. The staff was super friendly. The pool/spa area was good with the sauna and Turkish bath.

Our stay was amazing and relaxing. José was a superb host and the glamping at Poldras was just what we needed as a getaway from our busy daily lives. The jacuzzi is amazing.

The place is a perfect romantic escape for a couple of nights. Hidden between a forest and tiny river, gives the disconnect that you need at the same time providing the privacy you want during a romantic getaway. The place is beautiful, the chale is clean and comfortable and even though it is tiny, it has all you need. We came here to celebrate my boyfriend’s birthday and we got a lovely birthday cake with breakfast as well. Amazing service. Loved it and will be back!

A unique hideaway. Absolutely beautiful chalet, perfectly designed and presented. Everything you need, and more, beautifully presented. The location is just delightful. So private and green. The river offered unforgettable opportunity to wild swim. Beautiful walks. The breakfast hamper was a feast. Absolute treat, everything you’d want and more. The fresh fruit tasted amazing, bread, croissant cheese and ham fuelled us perfectly for our cycling tour. As if this wasn’t perfect enough the host went above and beyond to share the tourist highlights the area has to offer. I’m reluctant to write such a review as I fear when I book to stay again it will be fully booked!

It was amazing, José is super friendly and decorated all the room for a special date with my girlfriend. He prepared balloons, roses on the bed and drinks. Everything is amazing, amazing place, amazing city.

Even though we had a short stay it's definitely a highlight of our trip so far. The host was so welcoming and nice to talk to us about adjacent landmarks. The little house had everything and more than one could ask for. The view from the window is something to return for. Everything is perfect, starting from the welcome snacks and drinks to the wonderful breakfast in the morning. The morning mango and bakery included were a delight.

Fabulous welcoming by friendly and helpful staff. We were lucky to be proposed a free upgrade to their suite which was an absolutely beautiful accommodation wtih Jacuzzi, Terasse and all. The Douro Suites' garden peaceful garden, library blend perfectly with the stunning river & region itself.

Everything was perfect. The property is stunning, with a breathtaking view of the Douro River and many small, unique corners that make the place feel almost surreal — like stepping into an AI-designed world. The grounds are immaculately maintained with great attention to detail. Our room was lovely, with a small terrace and a compact yet beautifully decorated and practical bathroom. The bed offered absolute comfort — it was one of the best sleeps we’ve had in a long time. There’s no restaurant on-site, but they offer a charming little picnic suitcase that you can enjoy anywhere on the property. The infinity pool, while not very large, is absolutely gorgeous. Nestled right by the Douro, it gives you the magical feeling of swimming in the river itself. The staff were incredibly attentive and always smiling — truly dedicated to making your stay special. A peaceful, remote escape that inspires calm and serenity.

This was utter luxury! From.checknin to check out, the staff were phenomenal. The rooms are stunning with beautiful views of the river. Pool side is gorgeous with a small kitchen with a fridge eith cool Ester and snacks and a phone near lby to order wine or cocktails. The pool overlooks the beautiful river and is a place to just relax. The grounds are stunning and well maintained. We didn't have breakfast but it looked absolutely beautiful! Parking is easy and free. The rooms are amazing and there had been thought wirh every detail. It's quiet and boutique! We absolutely enjoyed and l9ved our stay here.

This place is just incredible! Staff was extremely helpful during the entire time and the service provided was top notch. The room was spacious and clean. The view to the Douro river was amazing. Breakfast was superb! Delicious and with a lot of options. The facilities were super nice including an indoor pool and an outside pool with incredible views!

This place is breathtaking! If you think the place is beautiful on the photos, wait till you are there. I honestly don’t have words. The beds are so comfortable. We had the room with jacuzzi and it felt so luxurious. You basically have everything on the bungalow. Plates, glass, cups etc. The view is amazing and the area outside is really beautiful. It’s a ZEN place where we immediately felt balanced and mindful. You can buy snacks, wine, soft drinks and food from the menu. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was really the best and we were WOW! For an amazing experience!

We had a truly wonderful stay at Portovella. We booked the deluxe bungalow, which was tucked away at the edge of the property, peaceful and quiet with breathtaking views. That said, it seemed like every room enjoyed the same stunning scenery. It was the perfect, relaxing two-day escape after a busy time in Porto. We did take a 1.5-hour drive to Pinhão to explore the wineries, which was a bit of a trek but exactly what we anticipated. If wine tasting is your main focus, Portovella might not be the most convenient base, but for a serene getaway, it's ideal. The pool area was fantastic, clean and so pretty with the river in the background, and the staff were incredibly friendly, happy to serve drinks poolside if desired. Breakfast delivered to our room was a real treat, with a generous spread of delicious options. As we expected from our research, there aren't many dining options within walking distance, so we drove out both nights to nearby towns, where we found several excellent restaurants (within about 15 minutes’ drive). There is the option to cook in the small kitchenette, or order from a local restaurant. All in all, a beautiful and peaceful stay!

Honestly the most amazing stay ever! I’m writing for solo travellers who don’t plan to drive. I took a train from Porto (Sao Bento station) to Mosteiro. whatever you do, don’t fall asleep on the train, the views are spectacular. When you get to Mosteiro, you can get a taxi outside. Check train times from Mosteiro station back to Porto, there was unfortunately strike on the day of my return which made it very difficult to travel back. - When I arrived, there was no one at reception and I kind of went round saying hello hello which worried me a bit but that was the only and last issue I had. The views are INCREDIBLE! literally waking up to the views at the Douro was everything. The room is so spacious and clean and has the best pillows and the best bed and I just can’t believe there’s a place like this. - Next time I won’t bother too much about food. The breakfast was plenty and enough to fill you for lunch and dinner. The 5* Douro hotel is close by and you can have a meal at their restaurant which I did. If you can, get a local to drive you to Cinfaes the views are incredible from there. - The staff were so helpful and helped me book a cab back. The pool was cold in June but still lovely view. Wifi was perfect!

The accommodations were so easily located with parking! And the view from the balconies were so amazing. The balcony from my bedroom faced the sunset over the mountains and river perfectly. I loved sitting out there. The bed was SO comfortable! Later that weekend I stayed at a 4-star vineyard and can honestly say the bed at casa do fontanario was more comfortable. It was also perfectly located, within a quick walk of many restaurants. The host gave me wonderful recommendations and what to see and what to eat, and I had one of the best meals in all of Portugal here! I loved the ease of check in and check out and there were heaters in the living room and bedroom which made it comfortable. The river walk which was just a few steps from the house was so scenic and peaceful. I felt SO relaxed in Amarante! And everyone I met was seriously so so friendly.

once again, a place i would love to live in ; in this apartment of the village of Amarante ! what a wonderful view from this apartment of this charming town. We were personally met at the entrance by 2 helpful staff who carried our luggage up the stairs. Casa do Fontanário Stay is located in the best possible spot, with views of the river and park , and a front door steps away from fine restaurants, church plaza, and charming bridge. The kitchen was well equippted and we loved having 2 balconies. The big window view from the bathroom is very special. The super cozy bedroom and bedroom balcony !! Excellent mattress and linen

A beautifully designed apartment in a perfect location to walk everywhere in this pretty old town. The terrace has great views and is perfect for breakfast or dinner, although there are a lot of restaurants to choose from nearby too. The owners were very helpful and included information on suggestions for places to visit, hire bikes and eat (which we haven’t had at the other apartments we’ve stayed in in Northern Portugal). We would like to come back.

special thanks to joao for meeting us on arrival and being so patient and helping with the parking and local info. the 2 bedroom is perfect for a couple, its all on one level, which is below the road level, the stairs in the photos are going down from street level from the entrance. the washing machine/tv with loads of english channels was great, air con and tv in every room, well equiped kitchen. in the 2 bedroom apartment the photos show 2 balconies, one is a tiny standing room only from the kitchen and the other is off the twin bed room and is better for river views and sitting and enjoying. the apartment is modern and luxurious , functional and unique , nespresso coffee machine. comfortable beds great wifi. the town is lovely, supermarkets are walking distance, local markets terrific and bus station to head off to porto if you dont want to drive which we did

From the terrace, we could enjoy amazing views of the Tâmega River and the sunset beyond the hills. The Tâmega River trekking course is just a 3-minute walk away, making it perfect for daily walks. The apartment is beautifully designed with great attention to detail, have cozy atmosphere.

The perfect getaway for two. Every detail is carefully thought out. Outdoor jacuzzi and pool, barbecue area. The views are breathtaking. Self-check-in, complete serenity. Everything is brand new and incredibly creative

This place is truly exception. The attention to detail is outstanding. You are staying in a work of art. Everything from the lighting that comes on around you at night, the embroidery on the towels, the signs and the decoration around you - the facilities in general. There are two rooms opposite each other with a central balcony looking at a wonderful hilly/mountainous view with an outdoor swimming pool below you. On one side of the building is the jacuzzi and to the other side is the kitchen area with gas cookers, toaster, utensils, etc. There is an outdoor bathroom/changing room for the swimming pool. You are really in a little pocket secluded away from it all, but it is a simple short walk to the village where there is a cafe etc. The room is small and compact but includes a microwave, coffee machine, fridge, TV, bathroom with large shower space and a really comfortable double bed from which you can look out over the hills/mountains. Lots of parking via a narrow road to the property. Everyone super friendly and helpful! This is a unique experience! Highly recommended in sunny weather so you can enjoy the property; and relax on the grass by the pool; otherwise you'd be trapped in the small bedroom and balcony area.

Loved the views, the hot tub and sauna. The staff were delightfully friendly, breakfast was lovely and fresh produce from the garden. Can’t fault it!

Lovely and peaceful location, close to everything you need including the Douro, Continent and delicious bakeries such as Alvorada in Penafiel. Andre and the team were very accommodating, helpful, and friendly, always ready to assist with anything! Great pool, fruit trees which the kids loved to pick and eat :) and gym was a bonus! Will definitely go back!
