Brilliant room lots of style , four poster bed , jacuzzi bath, very nice

The hotel is set in lovely mature grounds and the building itself provide lots of seating outside. The hotel inside has been refurbished in the restaurant and seating lounge next to it. My room was huge and was a family room. This area hadnt been refurbished but was homely and comfortable and what I noticed the most about the bedroom and bathroom is that it was very clean which is a major selling point, The hotel cares about the cleanliness. I ate in the restaurant and tried the chicken curry which I requested to be spiced up, The curry arrived with fresh chunky chips and basmati rice and a small naan. This curry was seriously good and one of the best I have eaten, Chicken was cooked perfectly, curry flavours were lovely, chips crunchy and rice perfect. Would recommend to anyone. The restaurant was really busy which created a great atmosphere. The location of the hotel was great as it is near to breathtaking views just a 5 minute drive away.

Our fourth stay, absolutely love it here, tranquility and food is always good. Want to say Karen the receptionist was so attentive, professional helpful and funny, a breath of fresh air she really looked after us and went the extra mile, thank you so much. Beautiful evening meal with two lovely young waitresses and great barman in the afternoon who we have seen on other visits with great customer service skills. Looks like there's some improvements happening, new windows and painting, it does need a lot of modernization but working with what they have is comfortable and clean and a fantastic setting, look forward to the next visit 😊😊 x

Clean and comfortable with generous sized bedrooms. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Hotel is convenient for the Beacons. Large and safe private parking. Excellent value for money.

My stay was a very positive experience. I was remembered, from a wedding reception two years ago, by the receptionist and that is extremely flattering. The staff, though mostly young, were very attentive there was even a 'nine' (see the Troy/Rushton scale) on duty in the bar on Saturday evening The room, though paid for as a single, was a large double and extremely comfortable. A quiet comfortable place to stay that I highly recommend.

We stayed here for my daughters tenth birthday and it was honestly amazing! The views are breathtaking. My daughter and I both appreciated that everything was to hand to help get the jacuzzi started and we found the bottle of wine and Welsh cakes left for us a really sweet touch. Everything was perfect, the pod was immaculate and the bed with the towels was laid out beautifully,will definitely be coming back!

Me and my partner really enjoyed our weekend stay here the pod was clean and cosy, had a little welcome basket with wine and welsh cakes which was a lovely little touch to arrive too 😊 pod was very well layed out and could find everything we needed easily, beautiful views surrounding you and very peaceful location, pod was warm and had everything you'd need for cooking and cleaning etc. Hotub was amazing just a little disappointed that we didn't manage to get more use out of it due to the weather being bad on day of arrival so wood for the hottub was wet and took a while to get the fire burning and heating the water didn't get to use it until the second day in the evening but still really enjoyed the weekend regardless, bed was really comfortable and we would definitely return here again 😀

Another lovely gateway!! Went there a year ago with my partner and since we liked it so much we have been there last week for a few days with the family this time (3 couples). Love this place, the location is perfect if you want to discharge, reset and relax. Everything is so peaceful and the view is simply amazing! The pods are fully equipped with all the necessities, warm, cozy and clean. Love the comfort of the en-suite bathroom. This year WiFi was added to the pods (in ours wasnt working) however, I dont mind it as when you are there the last thing you need is WiFi :) This time we also tried the wood fired hot tub and it was so relaxing. The host was very friendly and since we arrived a few hours earlier than the check-in time he checked if our pods were ready and let us check-in a bit early since they were ready and informed us that they were fixing something with the hot water that would be ready after a few hours. Like last year upon arrival we had our basket with a bottle of wine and welsh cakes (only in one of the pods there wasnt one). I really love that place and wouldnt mind going there for the 3rd time. I would 100% recommend it!! Thank you :)

The view and setting was amazing. The fact it was so quiet was just what we wanted. The locals were so helpful and welcoming. Great for walking and site seeing this is perfect for couples who are seeking a peaceful/relaxing break. Would highly recommend and will be visiting again.

We were greeted by two really friendly women / staff who were just in the maintenance shed next door. They were so helpful with tips on the hot tub set up, a real Welsh warm welcome in the valleys. Thank you. The Rhondda valleys is home to where my beloved late mother was from. The views of the mountains whilst in the hot tub on a starry night are wonderful. Learning that the hot tub water came from the mountain spring made it extra special and no smell of chemicals which you get in most tubs. You fill it before firing up the stove for heating the water so you have your own fresh water. Top tip is it took us 3 hours to get the water hot but it was very hot so we were glad we had filled the water to just over the height of the top jets (for safety for the tub) and this allowed us to add cold water to get it to a temperature we liked. The pod was very clean and the bed very comfy. The shower was nice and hot. The drive to the farm/pods is through the small town and don't be confused when you get to the bus turning point as per the instructions given you just go over the small bridge and eventually come to the pods. The valley is steeped in history as it was Fernhill colliery once.

Lovely house in a quiet area. Easy parking on street. House is walkable from the town centre. Owner is friendly and helpful. Room was modern and clean. Kettle, tea, coffee and Welsh cakes (very nice!) were supplied in the room. I grew up in the local area and can recommend this property. I’ll stay again!

Great kitchenette, very comfortable bed and pillows, hot shower, just overall a nice studio with everything needed for a few days provided. The location was within walking distance to the centre and the bus station too which was convenient for food shopping and hikes. Claire was friendly and helpful when we weren’t able to get into the front door one time.

My husband and I travel a lot across the UK, always within a similar budget. After staying at the Studios at Glenthorne, we both agreed that it was the best room we’ve ever had the pleasure of staying in. Not only was the room very cozy and stylishly decorated, but the attention to detail was simply incredible. There was even a steam iron and sewing kit in the room! On top of that, there was coffee, tea, delicious scones, and water and milk in the fridge. The room and bathroom were spotlessly clean, so we felt like at home. We were truly impressed 😊 The guest house is within 15 minutes walk from very nice pubs and restaurants.

Spotlessly clean, quiet and comfy. Very good value for money . Our bikes were locked away for us after a long cycle. We had a quick cuppa as the kitchens had tea coffee and milk and there were fresh Welsh cakes in each room . Then we strolled into town for a great meal out at Casa Bianca Merthyr. Afterwards we walked backed to Glenthorne and slept like logs. We felt welcome and pampered thank you

Moyra is a fabulous host and is dedicated to her BnB and her guests needs. She has a wonderful team and together they provide a great stay.. Such a friendly caring team for whom exceptional customer service is a priority. The full Welsh breakfast was fabulous and freshly made to order. We could help ourselves to the variety of cereals yoghurts croissants fruit juice and coffee etc set out in the breakfast room.. Our room was very quiet, spacious, extremely clean, light and airy and elegantly decorated with a fabulous ensuite bathroom, toiletries and great shower with a bath also. The window had a lovely rural outlook over the garden and towards the reservoir beyond. There is plenty of off road private parking to accommodate all the guests. There is a fridge in the room which is very handy and also a hair dryer.. The TV remote worked very easily and the radiators in the bedroom and bathroom were very responsive and efficient and could be adjusted very easily as required to meet our needs. We were extremely comfortable and cosy in our room and will definitely return and also recommend to family and friends. A very relaxed stay in a beautiful place with lots of interesting places to visit in the surrounding area. Fabulous waterfalls, walks , red kites feeding station but not far from local amenities and restaurants.

2 nights stay and Absolutely amazing. Perfect location for Pen Y Fan only about 15 mins drive away and at the foothill there is a free car park, then about hour trek uphill with breaks, opportunity to trek further if you feel like it. We didn’t know so didn’t come equipped with some snacks and extra water. It’s worth it once you’re up there to explore further. Recommend good trekking shoes although I did it in my trainers and it was ok. Some loose rocks on the path but overall not as bad as I initially thought. Now the accommodation: what a lovely and warm welcome from the owner, Moyra, she gave us plenty of tips on where to go and places to eat. Full welsh breakfast in the morning that kept us going. Lovely clean and comfortable accommodation with free WiFi which we were grateful for as there is bad reception in the area. Also lovely and friendly staff, very attentive, professional yet warm. Car park on site. There was a fridge in the room which was very handy to chill drinks because there was a heatwave on our stay, however rooms were comfortable at nigh we've had a great sleep. Also little tip, if you’re lucky enough with good weather, we went star gazing at night by the reservoir. What a lovely trip we had!! What really made it special was the warmth of the owner and her staff. God bless Of course covid safe.. can’t recommend enough

What a lovely place, staff were friendly and helpful, room was squeaky clean, comfortable included a fridge and fast wifi (we used our netflix buffer free) 2 chairs and plenty of surface space, bag space and storage. breakfast was great, the nations favourit sausage, none of that fancy rubbish that 50/50 enjoy. Pretty sure this was a Richmond the best sausage on the market to please the masses. Lovely spread, juice, cereal, toast n spreadables, fruit. Tasty stuff. We stayed as a romantic getaway, took alcohol and food with us, had an amazing stay and Will return. Thank you.

As an overnight stop on the road to/from Cardiff it is very convenient. Ample easy parking. Had a room with 2 single beds, nice and clean; the bed was on castors and moved around when trying to sit on it, comfortable enough though, good linen and pillows. Bathroom spotlessly clean although tiles around the bath could do with upgrade if I was to be picky. Shower gel provided (no soap). Location surprisingly peaceful considering the busy A470 just in front of the guest house. Lovely ladies greeted me at breakfast, very friendly and breakfast was OK

We had a very nice stay at Llwyn Onn Guest House for 6 nights. It has an excellent location, not far from the waterfalls and other trails and also town centre, it is also just a few minutes drive from the car park for Pen y Fan and Corn Du. It is surrounded by lovely nature and the reservoir is only short walk away. It’s cosy and really clean B&B owned by the lovely Moyra, who is always there for you making sure you have everything you need. All the staff are also very friendly. The most friendly people we’ve met in Wales. It doesn’t have a restaurant (for evening meals) but the included breakfast is very good and made to order. For evening meals, there is plenty of pubs in the area only about 10 min. drive away. Or you can order a take-away if you like and use the facilities to eat it at. It has nice garden where you can chill out too. I find some of the reviews complaining about the fact there is no restaurant on site absolutely ridiculous to be honest. The town is only few minutes drive and there are plenty of choices if you don’t want to go into local pubs. We particularly liked The New Crown Inn in Merthyr. I can’t recommend this guest house enough. If you’re looking for a nice and peaceful place in a great location with nice surroundings, this is definitely the right place for you.

Everything! Our room was fabulous, the bed was very comfortable and the en-suite bathroom was lovely with a really good selection of toiletries. Great choice of tea, coffee etc in the room and even oat milk. I'm lactose intolerant so having a different type of milk already there was a nice touch. We stayed for two nights and breakfast on both mornings was delicious and very well presented. A sheet with a list of breakfast options was left in our room to be completed and left outside the door by 10pm and you could choose what time you preferred in half hour intervals. I've seen other reviews that have complained about the length of time it takes for breakfast to be served but have to say that ours was served within a reasonable time after being seated and everything was freshly cooked. There was also cereal and toast, tea, coffee and juice - the breakfasts kept us going all day. We also had one evening meal in the restaurant - we didn't book in advance, there were other people already there and a large party was also due in but this was no problem for the staff. Again the food was delicious, fresh and served promptly. Finally, I can't say enough about the staff, they were all very helpful, friendly and nothing was too much trouble. We really enjoyed our stay here and hope to come back one day. Keep up the good work everyone and thank you to you all.

Lovely big room nice comfy bed slept like a log!,spotlessly clean, tea/coffee, shampoo,soap clean towels all exceeded my expectations, I will definitely stop again when in the area,highly recommend and I’ve given 10/10 can’t give 11 if I could I would!.

From check-in to departure, everything was perfect. Hosts were very friendly and welcoming, once checked in we were told how to get to our room on the 1st floor. Room was immaculate and beautifully furnished, bed was spacious and bathroom was beautiful too with a massive walk-in shower, toiletries, and towels. The room had tea/coffee making facilities , coat hangers and a hair dryer in the desk drawer. We had a fabulous nights sleep, and went down early for breakfast. The host and chef were very accommodating to our breakfast requirements, and through conversation our vegan alternative full Welsh breakfast did not disappoint. It was superb. We had a walk around the area during the evening and had a drink in the pub opposite our hotel which was busy and lively... it was NYE so didn't expect any different. Overall, we had a fabulous time and would definitely love to stay again in the near future.

Absolute gem of a Hotel, we had a Family room for 2 Adults and 2 Children, parking was made available for our group of 3 families, The Breakfasts in the morning where Great and so much choice. The Hotel has just gone through a Major refit this you could spot a long way of absolutely Top end re fit, fixtures and fittings where high end and the Rooms all very Modern with lush Bathrooms. The public areas are spotless and very clean, Been to lots of Hotels throughout the world but can honestly say that this Hotel stands out amongst them, Mainly because the staff are so good super efficient at check in and check out, The Breakfast staff where great, room Cleaners did a fab job every day and not to forget the Bar staff especially Lauren who made amazing cocktails and very Friendly. Overall had a great time and great experience all down to there Customer service which is second to non. Would we come back? Absolutely in a heart beat.

Kind friendly staff. Breakfast delicious and stayed hot whilst eating. Room spacious and spotlessly clean. Bed very comfortable. Had a meal in the pub. Food was delicious. The bar is well stocked with lots of choices. Allowed me to check in early which was gratefully appreciated. Definitely want to stay again on my next trip.

In case it's helpful to note, the check-in is at bar/ restaurant counter. Very friendly staff. Room is spacious and comfortable. There was bottled water and biscuits which was a nice touch. The bathroom is spacious too with good shower power. The cooked breakfast sets you up for your walks for the day. Good location to the Brecon Beacons. Many restaurants and shops just walking distance away.

The staff are very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was lovely. My room had a king size and a single bed. There was plenty of tea, coffee and biscuits and two armchairs and a coffee table. The modern bathroom had a massive walk in shower with a large shower head. The toilet was very clean. There was plenty of hot water and the heating was on all night, not like some places I've stayed in.

Equally friendly welcome at breakfast with the sisters Heidi and Kelly had a nice conversation with them they are a real credit to your business having worked as management in hospitality myself I understand the importance of guest satisfaction your team members really stood out as providing exceptional service. Nicely cooked breakfast fresh and piping hot served efficiently and with a smile and made such a difference to my morning as I was suffering with a self inflicted sore head after partying on sat evening !! The room was spotless, comfortable, warm and very nicely done out. Lovely touches and great decor. Everything you might need was thought of. So thank you! The evening meal in the restaurant bar was excellent. Breakfast was too, at such an early hour (of my chosing) whilst the weather was absolutely grim outside - storm Bert! So well done the kitchen staff for braving the vile weather in the dark to serve the guests. It was fantastic value all round. The staff are super cool, friendly, and helpful. I've stayed in a lot of places and I thought the Marquis was spot on.

We spent 3 nights at James' Place with primary purpose of exploring the Bikepark Wales. James and Angela were incredibly accommodating., providing us with valuable insights on local attractions, dining and breweries options. The room was tastefully decorated, clean, and equipped with all the essentials for our short stay. Mike, coffee, tea, Wales cake and the dog treats. Convenient parking is available either outside or just behind the building. There are nearby takeaway options, and a welcoming hotel bar is situated next door. The Bikepark is a 10 minutes drive away, while the town centre is only a few minutes drive away from the property. It was quiet and peaceful. We will certainly be returning in the future.

The room, toilet and the kitchen were modern. Modern appliances, modern decorations. The room was heated up when I entered which was nice considering it was snowing outside. Well maintained. Very comfortable. Host had kept chocolates along with some snacks. Quite nice of her. She had also kept milk in the fridge. Coffee was available. Wide screen TV with Netflix. Iron and an ironing board was provided. Safe neighbourhood.

Perfect for the walking weekend we wanted away. It’s close to the hills, easily accessible from the south east. The room set up was great. Shower worked well, fun clean decor. Room felt really clean Very fresh and well thought out - Amazing value for money and would use again.

Lovely stay in Wales! The apartment is a good size, nice kitchen with utensils to cook own meals, good bathroom with big shower. Apartment is just outside national park which was perfect for us as we enjoyed taking in the views whilst driving to Brecon town about 25mins away and to pen y fann about 20 mins. Apartment is in quiet location but next to takeaway (kebabs and pizza) which was good also on outskirts of meryth tidvil with bowling, cinema and restaurants! Good location and nice relaxing break! The property was perfect for us, great location and close to bike park, and some amazing parks we have a 6yr old and just so much stuff to do all in 1 park !! Great little property very clean and modern fab little terrace space - Angela and james very helpful with anything we needed will defo be staying again thank you

Superb big room almost a suite. Impressive bathroom with large illuminated around bath + separate shower. Ultra clean. Right in centre of Pontypridd. milk, coffee biscuits tea cup/saucer AND teapot! Hairdryer with area seating with mirror and light, really helpful. Iron and pull up ironing board. Large sofa and super comfy king bed . Smart TV. Which confused this technophobe dinosaur but thanks to a very kind and helpful member of staff named Sophie who came to my rescue I was able to navigate my way through! Superb indoor Market within a few metres. Several areas designated to different types of sales. Fresh food market, DIY, sports, jewellery, baby clothing, bakeries, and the biggest section of books I've seen outside of an actual library!!! Plenty of eateries with various styles ie vegetarian, Thai, coffee shops but would highly recommend Soshias' - small but friendly and wonderful service plus beautifully cooked food very reasonably priced.

Honestly we cannot tell you how impressed we are with this hotel. Absolutely amazing. The rooms are amazing and immaculately clean, all members of staff are so friendly and helpful and the food in the restaurant is DELICIOUS! We will be back again!

Friendly, welcoming staff. Large, comfortable beds. Clean room with a spacious bathroom. Delicious breakfast. Ideal location for exploring the town and Brecon or the nearby castles. Parking is accessible and a very short walk from the hotel .

The room was a good size. There was a fan in the room, which was really good as it was a very hot weekend. There was a good supply of tea/coffee and milk. The lighting was good. The provision of tissues in the bathroom was thoughtful and useful. There was a hairdryer - though not near a mirror! There was a screen over the window which allowed the window to be open a bit without it being dangerous. The shower was excellent, but the large shower head tended to spill water over the floor, so care was required. The breakfast was excellent overall. There was a lift so getting to the 2nd floor was easy. The staff were very helpful. Parking behind the Alfred Bar and Grill was convenient.

Central location, charming bar / restaurant area, and spacious room (I booked the suite - which had a separate 'living room' kind of area. Comfy bed, big bathroom. Room needed a little TLC in places - but overall, very good value for a comfy and convenient stay!

It was a lovely stay, just one night before a day at bike park wales. I was told to leave the bike in the hall way and it was fine there. Parking was tight with a bike rack on so i dropped it to get the car over as far as i could. The room was beautifully decorated, bed comfy, shower amazing and the whole place was quiet.

The hosts were lovely people who provided lots of useful information about the surrounding area re restaurants, tourist attractions,walking trails etc. The room was excellent with a very comfortable bed, cooking facilities, plenty of room plus parking. The location was quiet and convenient with easy access to the town centre. Would highly recommend this property.

We were here for a few days to explore this part of Wales. This house with self-catering rooms was ideal for our stay. A short walk away is a wonderful cafe with fresh baked goods and a nice espresso. The town centre is a short distance down the hill where there are a few pubs, shops and restaurants. There are some great hiking opportunities nearby as well.

James’ Place in the Rafters is as cosy and spacious in person as in the photos. The decorative touches and comfortable furnishings, bed included, make this studio a very unique and pleasant place to stay. As stated in the listing- a car is a must and the room is not accessible for anyone with mobility issues (steep narrow stairs).

They went above and beyond to ensure that our stay was comfortable and enjoyable. From offering helpful recommendations for places to visit in the area to providing personalized service, their warmth and hospitality made me feel right at home. It was evident that they genuinely cared about their guests' experience and were passionate about creating memorable stays.

First class accommodation and Julie was very friendly and helpful. It was very clean and it felt homely and the shower was great. The room was well appointed Breakfast wasn’t included in our room rate but was offered for an additional cost. There was free parking outside the room. We would recommend it.

This is an absolutely gorgeous place to stay. The room was beautifully decorated, luxurious and delightful. Everything from the decor, plentiful plug sockets and wonderfully bright lighting was perfect. The bathroom facilities and shower were excellent and (with proper useful sized towels) the “dressing room” area was perfect with full length and brightly lit mirrors. Julie, the hostess/owner was completely lovely. Warm, friendly and nothing was too much trouble. It’s just a shame we were only staying for one night! Thoroughly recommended.

A beautifully decorated house and stylish rooms. Very spacious and extremely clean. Very friendly hosts. Simple but good continental breakfast available, perfect for a b&b.

There is plenty of free parking and the location was perfect, away from the busy centre of town, but all the local facilities within easy walking distance. Great value, and I was expecting a single bed, but was allocated a room with a double bed. It looks like the corridors to the rooms were recently decorated in a fresh modern way. The room could do with a little freshening up, but it was clean and comfortable. I was worried about the noise from the pub disturbing me in my room, especially as I stayed on a Friday and Saturday nights, but it wasn't an issue. The higher numbered rooms seem to be the quieter ones. There was a bit of noise from the beer garden as I had my windows open, but it did not disturb me. There is no breakfast on offer, but there are plenty of places in town. For dinner I would recommend Amici Italian Restaurant, and for breakfast I would recommend Woodies, both in the centre of Blackwood. I would not hesitate to return if I am in the area again.

Check in was easy. Room was nice and clean and fresh. Bed comfortable. Shower a bit on the small side, but adequate.Good seating outside. The hotel is located at the very top of a long, steep hill. When approaching it through a very built up residential area, it does not look like there would be a hotel there, but just keep going up the hill and the area opens up. We walked down the steep hill to the shops on the high street. It's quite a hike back up the hill, but good excersise! It was a week-end, but there may be a bus to take you up the hill. Enquire at the pub..This hotel was excellent value for money. It's a pity that the bar/restaurant is not open in the morning for breakfast. Suggest taking a small box of cereal and some milk for the morning.

The staff were really friendly and helpful. It was pleasing to have free safe parking on site The food in the bar was good and great value for money. The room was really clean, and I got a great nights sleep!

Staff was very friendly and helpful, the pool area was lovely and relaxing especially the jacuzzi, the restaurant was a lovely place to eat and the portion size and quality of the food was really good even though it was a little pricey. The room was a good size, clean and well presented.

The fry up breakfast was fantastic and we loved the spa features - a really hot jacuzzi, sauna and steam. The staff were very friendly and catered to all of our needs. Thank you so much!

The jacuzzi was properly hot. Thank you, made the stay worth while after a few days biking in the cold. Don’t make it colder!

I'd love to THANK the receptionists a LOT because on the day we were supposed to arrive, our kitten got ill. Receptionist managed to book us in on another day without any charge!! Swimming pool, jacuzzi, steam and sauna was the best thing. Amazing room view and beautiful scenic location. Perfect for golfers. Got good gym facilities. Good service at breakfast, senior waitress was amazing. Also receptionist was top notch. I love how the room has a balcony or patio outside where you can sit and get some fresh air. Comfy pillow, bedding.

Plenty free parking. Large bed and well equipped rooms, replenished everyday by house keeping. Great food/bar (breakfast & dinner), excellent, friendly and professional staff. Fabulous facilities with gym and spa area. Lockers, towels and lovely clean pool, jacuzzi, sauna etc Fantastic location for walking/hiking etc or visiting Wales. Caerphilly castle pretty awesome and nearby. So much to see & do in the area but hotel was a fabulous value for money short break.

It was best stay ever. We soaked in the pool, jacuzzi and sauna after the hike, then had amazing dinner. Nice service and delicious meals. Breakfast was also great 😃 car park included

Lovely location, great to have the spa and restaurant onsite. Food was delicious - evening and breakfast. Spa was a nice extra (pool, sauna, steam room, lukewarm jacuzzi) but glad we didn't have to pay as it is a bit tired. All in all a very nice stay and perfect location for Pen y Fan

Great location, good breakfast, a resort complex with a pool, saunas, and jacuzzi, good value for money, delicious food in the hotel restaurant. I will definitely come back here.
