This is truly the nicest hotel I’ve stayed at in my life. It felt like I had my own private mini mansion. Private pool for the rental, mostly glass walls made it feel like I was living in the jungle, Paulo was an incredible host and was very responsive, the list goes on and on, all of the amenities, even yoga mats waiting for us… If this place is in your budget, stay here!!!

Esh is a beautiful brand new luxury property. I only stayed for one night but the staff and amenities were amazing. The rooms are brand new and modern--has a very Tulum type vibe. The onsite restaurant was amazing. The owners were extremely gracious and helpful with anything I needed. Only downside is you do need a car as it is not in a walkable area. However apart from that Esh is really beautiful and would highly recommend for anyone looking for a peaceful luxury stay.

I stayed here for one night and it was amazing. I wanted a place to get away and relax and I can’t think of a better place to do it. The whole place is beautiful and even though it’s easy to get to the beach I loved just being by the pool and being in the jungle. The staff was great, so friendly and helpful, the food amazing and great cocktails, just a perfect vibe. I would definitely go back hopefully for a longer trip!

We went to this resort for our honeymoon. It is in the town of Nosara - a beach town that is approximately 5 hour drive from San Jose airport. We opted for small plane Green Airways on our return. Located off the beaten path, this resort is truly relaxing, quiet and beautiful. It opened 2 months prior to our stay, so everything looks brand new. The staff is incredibly nice and helpful. The multi level pool is clean and beautiful and the restaurant has an excellent menu. They arranged transportation via a side-by-side to the beaches: Playa Pelada, and Playa Guiones. Both beaches are beautiful. Overall, highly recommend it.

What a beautiful and relaxing space. The owners Jaime and Miri were wonderful, so sweet and friendly. Design is impeccable. Rooms thoughtfully laid out and stunning. The bed was so comfy. Had the best massage at the spa. Also loved the restaurant/bar near the pool. Great food and drinks. I ate every taco they have and they were all genuinely delicious. Can't say enough good things. Really enjoyed my stay, just an excellent place to rest and enjoy.

Cute and comfy hotel with lots of character. 1. Room+terrace: comfy and cool with the AC. Nice and spacious and I liked having my own little walkway and sitting area to enjoy moments alone. 2. Facilities: nice yoga shala and pool area. The other guests were friendly and it was a nice area to enjoy and chat with others 3. Breakfast: great breakfast! I loved the fruit and juice and coffee provided upon sitting siren and the breakfast options from the menu were excellent 4. Staff: Amazing staff. Fran and Maria were super friendly and Christina was very helpful and so great to chat with and let me practice my Spanish with her and was also very helpful in making recommendations of where to get food and how to get around. The owner was also helpful in ensuring things were operating well. 5. Location: I really liked the location. Was a nice walk to the beach in one direction and to BodhiYoga Resort in the other direction. I went to the beach at least once every day and to Bodhi several times during my stay for yoga or food or reliable wifi while grabbing a smoothie 6. The Vibe and Jungle feel: I noticed several other hotels in the area that were fancier and more polished but I actually preferred Green Sanctuary because the others seemed a little too sterile for me. Overall was an amazing stay and I plan to visit again!

Carlos, the reception/ waiter was so friendly and helpful! it was safe and quiet but no jungle walk to the beach. the beach is about 1/2 mile away down the road. The hotel is a short drive to town but roads are very bumpy and dark so nighttime walks or drives to town are not recommended unless you are comfortable driving in Coast Rica. The breakfast is delicious! There is construction happening all over the place but we are early risers and beach goers so it did not bother us. Really, the hotel has no control over the growth happening around them. The room was clean and comfortable but tight. The discount for cash was not really a discount just $13 less because of the tax discount. Honestly, if we went back to Nosara area, we would stay closer to town. But, Carlos was super helpful!

My husband and I stayed at Green Sanctuary during our first visit to Costa Rica. We wanted something low maintenance, affordable, but clean, safe and convenient. This place exceeded our expectations. The staff members are lovely, personable and helpful. The rooms had everything we needed, were clean and comfortable and air conditioned. The breakfast was to die for - absolutely delicious. If you’re looking for a comfortable place to stay while you spend most of your days at the beach (surfing w the Coconut Harry’s guys!!!) or elsewhere, this is perfect. We didn’t rent a car and found that we didn’t need one. It was about 10-15 mins walking to the beach, and after the sun went down it was easy enough to find a Tuk Tuk to take us back. Cannot recommend enough. Wish we could live there forever!!!

spent an amazing week in Nosara, Costa Rica — a magical surf and yoga town full of life. After a few days at a larger, busier resort, I moved to Hotel Green Sanctuary, and everything shifted. The shipping container rooms were a perfect, simple place to stay, with excellent A/C for deep, restorative sleep. Breakfast was a daily highlight, and the pool was the perfect way to cool down after long, hot days exploring town and the beach. The location is ideal for walking around and discovering Nosara. I booked through Booking.com, which made communication with hotel management seamless — everything was smooth and easy from start to finish. They also provided great resources for food delivery, transportation (Better Call Tito!), and affordable local restaurant recommendations. Huge thanks to Ro, Fernando, the amazing chef, and even the friendly black cat for creating such a welcoming, peaceful space. I’m so grateful for the experience — and I’m bringing some Pura Vida energy home with me!

Very peaceful, quiet & clean with friendly staff. Wonderful full fresh fruit & made to order delicious breakfast was included to start each day. Rooms and property are well maintained. Pool area is secluded and relaxing as well.

The staff are all lovely and accommodating. Rooms are tidy and spacious with comfortable beds and pillows. The grounds are amazing with a lovely pool and plenty of nature. To walk to the beach is only 15 minutes or less and you could drive if you wanted to as there is room to park. The restaurant was quite good. Everything is made just for you and I noticed some other guest requesting off the menu items with no issue. They only take cash at the restaurant which would have been good to know in advance. But you can pay for your room with a credit card. The drive from samara is through a small river or you can go around if you are not a confident driver but it's really not an issue. You do not need 4x4.

We loved this lodge. The location is quiet and surrounded by nature. We saw howlers , iguanas, parakeets, and many other birds every day on the property. A 10 minute walk to a stunning turtle beach with no crowds and gorgeous sunsets. The staff are hardworking and very welcoming. The rooms are cleaned daily, the beds are comfortable, and there is hot water in the shower, which is rare. There is private outdoor seating for each cabin. The food was delicious and made from local, organic ingredients. The pool is a lovely bonus. We recommend that you have a car as the location is quite isolated, unless, like us, you just want to chill for a while. We feel that this hotel is good value for your money in this area.

A small paradise in a remote and quiet location fifteen minutes from two beautiful, uncrowded and spacious beaches. We really appreciated the owner Reiner, and the staff were extremely nice, helpful and welcoming. The pool is just what one needs after a day in the scorching sun. The food at the restaurant is all organic and delicious; or one can purchase food and cook in the room. Samara is 20 minutes away by car and there’s a market nearby. There’s an A/C and mosquito nets on all windows in the rooms. We highly recommend this place as an escape from the crowded commercial touristic areas. Stay at least two or three days. Take a break from everything.

The pool was lovely and well maintained, a nice cool down on a hot day. The beach was a few minutes walk away and absolutely wonderful, specially in the early morning - wide and almost deserted. Playa Buena Vista. The staff were most welcoming and warm, they really care about their guests. The location is quiet and super peaceful, away from it all. It would help to have a rental car, if you are staying more than a couple of nights. I loved hanging out in a hammock in the shade. Our little porch had beautiful climbing purple flowers hanging down. The grounds are spacious and nicely planted. We enjoyed the howler monkeys too.

Nosara was the 2nd stop for us on our honeymoon and the Gilded Iguana Surf Hotel was an excellent option! We stayed in a yoga room which was very comfortable and had its own outdoor shower as tons of space. The property is beautiful, very clean and newly updated with a wonderful, helpful staff. It’s in an extremely convenient location, right by a trail to the beach, one of the downtown areas with tons of restaurants, bars, shops and nearby fresh juice bars. We walked everywhere except for when we had dinner at La Luna (highly recommend for stunning sunset views and delicious, fresh cuisine). Tamarindo is a very laid back small town that is big on surfing, yoga & wellness. One of the 5 blue zones in the world, the tap water is mineral rich & high alkaline & delicious! This is a very safe town with friendly locals & travelers but be warned that the roads driving into Nosara are rough - many dirt roads with lots of potholes.

Great place to stay! Wonderful hotel 2 minutes walking distance from the beach and surfing club. The facility is stunning well designed, the garden area outside the room , the pool area and our room, everything just looks so good. The place is spacious, quiet, clean, with good vibes. We got Excellent service from everyone onsite. The restaurant has very good food we had breakfasts and dinners. Good WIFI coverage all over the area. Safe and minibar in the room. It is possible to rent bikes and same with surfing boars at the surfing club. There is a high awareness to prevent Covid and it was nice to the staff following the procedures to keep us safe. We decided extend our stay. Highly recommended hotel.

Very cute hotel. Clean and had everything we needed. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. They go out of their way to book tours etc for you and are excellent with communicating with guests. Breakfast was included and it was delicious with many options. They bring you a big plate of fruit and fresh pasteries before you even order breakfast. Only a 5 minute walk to the beach (if you are there during raining season, you could use a pair of rain boots to navigate the giant puddles if you decide to walk to restaurants and shops). Overall an excellent place.

The property is stunning and very well maintained. The pool area is beautiful and there is lots of green everywhere. The property is indeed close to the beach and we really liked the options around. The staff is really friendly and very helpful. We also really liked the restaurant of the property. They offer great options for breakfast and dinner. Pro tip: there is a good local restaurant in front of the property and the food is very good and the cost is a fraction compared to bigger restaurants in the area.

This was my third visit to Playa Guiones/Nosara area, but my children’s first visit to CR! The Guilded Iguana surpassed all expectations! We loved the hotel for its friendly, helpful staff, super clean hotel, amazing housekeeping, excellent breakfast, dining options, pool, we can go on! A few minutes to the beach, and we highly recommend the Iguana Surf Club if you’ve never surfed. The staff really takes care of you to ensure you have everything you need so you’re just enjoying your vacation! So many personal touches they added to our stay that really made us feel welcome and special. Kids raved about it too and said they’d love to go back soon! As well, the location is central to boutique shopping and other restaurants in the area, so you don’t need a vehicle! All in all, we highly recommend The Gilded Iguana for a wonderful stay!

This was an absolute fantastic place to stay in Nosara! Very accessible to the local beaches and restaurants. And a huge plus having the Reserva Biológica Nosara steps away from the hotel. The Rerserva had amazing trails and beautiful flora/fauna. In addition to all of this, they have 3 pools of varying temperatures including a heated jacuzzi. Best of all was the staff! Super friendly and accommodating. The Lagarta Lodge gets a 10/10!! Looking forward to visiting again. p.s. Howler monkeys hang out near the balconies! Very cool :)

We had an amazing stay at Lagarta Lodge.It is really a five star boutique hotel. The location is perfect next to a wildlife preserve and the views are gorgeous of the ocean and the preserve. Everyone on staff is so friendly and very attentive. They are what makes it a great hotel. The room and terrace were quite large and had a beautiful view. There are two lovely Infiniti pools and the main restaurant and rooftop sunset bar and restaurant were open air with great servers. We also visited the spa for a deep tissue couples massage and it was one of the best ever. We will definitely visit again!!

Stunning views, epic non crowded surf spot, food was clean, real and tasty. Staff was friendly and fun. Plus you get your workout in walking around the lush property. Pool views were out of this world! Rooms were clean, modern, large and cozy. Sunsets were 5star. This place is a must see even if you can’t stay the night. They have day pass for you to enjoy!

Unmatched views of unspoiled coastline including the Ostional beach where we saw turtles hatching. Restaurant setting was very soothing with excellent red snapper. Staff was very attentive and fast (albeit in very low season). The cocktails at sunset were unmatched. You could spend long hours in the infinity pools relaxing with the views. Enjoyed the choice of pool temperatures as well as the nice outdoor shower in our bedroom.

I really enjoyed my stay at Norte. The room was beautiful with little details. The staff was so nice and helpful. Yoga studio with a lot of classes available and the jungle bar had the best cocktails!

Great place to stay located right between 2 great beaches. Stayed in 2 different rooms due to availability. We are a family with 2 older kids. We stayed in a 2 bed beach front and a double ocean view. Both were great but the double ocean view was very spacious with great views and perfect for a family. Clean and well decorated. The staff were really friendly and very helpful with arranging activities - surf lessons, riding and restaurant suggestions. Fulfilled a bucket list dream of galloping along a beach. Thanks especially to Daniel for all his help with activities. La Luna restaurant which is owned by the hotel is awesome. Chill and beautiful with great food. Get there for sunset. Although parts of the hotel don’t look quite finished, the pool is great and there are games tables etc. Would go there again. Kids liked it and the overall vibe.

Hotel was stunning, views were incredible, and beach was a 2 minute walk away. Staff was very friendly, breakfast was delicious and we enjoyed dinner at the restaurant with amazing views of the sunset. The only downside is that the hotel is definitely starting to show its age. A small update to the rooms would go a long way. Our shower was not very hot and the shower head was leaking and sprayed in every direction, it could have used a fresh coat of paint, and the window wouldn’t close completely so we had some ants and moths in the bathroom. Not major complaints, we understand that bugs are a part of life in costa rica. But definitely little things that kept this hotel just short of its incredible potential. Definitely still highly recommend it.

Quiet, quaint and quirky! Breathtaking views! During our stay we enjoyed most pool hours to ourselves. The rooms and property are clean and well kept. Playa Pelada and Playa Guiones are a couple minutes walk away and both beaches are visible from locations on the property. Downtown Guiones is a quick 10 minute drive. Alexsander and Vanessa serve up a delicious breakfast each morning. The pool and breakfast view of the Pacific is non-negotiably the best in Nosara! Howler monkeys are easy to see and visit the pool and breakfast restaurant! Nosara Beach Hotel is a decision you won't regret!

This lovely, interesting, hotel was recently reopened (I believe around 2019) and some refurbishments are on-going. It was a former iconic landmark dating back seemingly to the 1970s, retains a spiritual vibe and is well on its way to becoming a unique re-born classic, a worthy and impressive endeavour. The location is key, set just a few minutes' walk from a choice of two separate beaches, each with their own individual personalities. One beach is long, sweeping and a favourite for surfers, the other quieter, somewhat rockier, more family-orientated with varying, interesting sandy bays. Our air-conditioned (indispensable) room was large, having a separate living area with 3 free bottles of filtered water provided daily, a French coffee press, a refrigerator and a safe. The small balcony was reminiscent of a treehouse with just enough room for a two-person bench and overlooked one of the beaches, beyond dense vegetation. Our room was fine for a two-night stay and clearly some work is continuing, for example some of the plumbing and our bathroom had not yet been fully perfected. The main pool afforded great views of the interesting architecture of the hotel. Relaxing hammocks were available in a shady, grassed area. The sea-views at sunset from near the pool were outstanding. The only restaurant was airy, shady and the food good and reasonably priced. The menu changed after two days. Breakfast was excellent, a la carte.

I live an hour away and needed to be in Nosara for the night so my 3 year old daughter and I had a little holiday here and we had a great time, we really loved it. it's perfect for kids, trampoline, great pool, lovely immaculate gardens. The buildings are bonkers, and it's a little rough around the edges in parts, but the decor is chic and simple and very clean, and it's all rather charming. Definitely would recommend it: it's the most peaceful place I've ever stayed in Nosara. the beach is on the doorstep and La Luna restaurant next door does a lovely ambient dinner. The breakfast included was delicious, way above-standard of many other hotels we've stayed in. all in all we had a great time and I would absolutely recommend it, especially for families. The staff are all super relaxed and friendly

Everything! The reception staff were very welcoming, informative, and helpful. They booked restaurants and excursions for us. They gave us a tour of the facility pointing out all of the amenities we may be interested in. Then they showed us to our rooms. They explained how to use the safe, provided a complimentary stainless steel water bottle, complimentary laundry service, and complimentary breakfast at the wonderful on-site restaurant. Local coffee and organic tea was provided. The entire facility was very clean and tidy. I loved my room. It had a balcony above the pool, at tree canopy height. It was private, quiet. A wonderful place to just sit and enjoy being outside. The bed and bedroom was air-conditioned and very comfortable. The restaurant staff, menu, and food quality were superb! All of the staff were very attentive to our needs, efficient, capable, patient, courteous, friendly, generous, and kind. And it was a short walk to a beautiful beach and glorious sunsets! I highly recommend Olas Verdes!

What an AMAZING hotel! The location is perfect, just a 1 min walk to the beach through stunning jungle on a private path and a 5 min walk to shops and restaurants. Everything about the hotel was perfect for us, the room was beautiful and we loved the private outside space to sit and watch monkey, birds, iguanas & geckos while enjoying a nice cold beer. Both pools were very welcome after a busy day exploring and the food was delicious. I think the best thing about the hotel was all the staff! They were so friendly, always happy to chat, very knowledgeable and nothing was too much trouble. It’s clear they all enjoy their jobs as they were always smiling, happy and laughing with each other giving the hotel a very friendly and relaxed feel. Ines and Nikole on the front desk in particular went above and beyond helping with restaurant suggestions and bookings even sending me menu’s from a number of local restaurants so I could check there would be something my fussy son would eat! Not to mention telling us the best place to go to find local handmade souvenirs.

This was our first trip with a baby - we had our 4 month old daughter with us and stayed here for 8 nights. It was truly exceptional. The staff is so thoughtful, kind, generous, gracious, and helpful. Our baby was in love with them all holding her while we got to eat meals. I am forever grateful to the lovely ladies working the front desk and restaurant - they made our trip so wonderful. Speaking of the meals, wow. Breakfast was awesome and has such a great menu that even being there for 8 days, it never got old. We also had dinner and lunch at the restaurant - also so great. The room was perfect and the free laundry service was so helpful with the baby. We even had a pack n play provided by the place to borrow making our travel even easier. We got to surf everyday with the ease of the ocean right down the epic jungle path. We watched monkeys for hours from our balcony, spent afternoons taking our baby in the pool for the first time, and could enjoy air conditioned naps in the hot afternoon. This will be a trip we hold dear forever as it was our first as parents and Olas Verdes will be remembered as the best possible place to spend it. I cannot recommend this place enough and we will be back for sure.

Olas Verdes is in the quiet part of Nosara, as close to the beach as you can get, and a short walk to restaurants if you decide to eat off property. The hotel is LEED certified. It strives to be zero waste and the grounds are beautiful. It is a peaceful little oasis and has exactly what you need. Our room was a suite and extremely spacious. The bed was extremely comfortable. They left us coffee and juice for the morning and the included breakfast was amazing. All of the staff were wonderful. Their pictures do not do it justice. There are hipper hotels but not nicer hotels in terms of amenities, staff, hospitality, and location. We loved our stay.

The room was large, spacious and clean. On arrival we were given a welcome drink and showed to our room. The facilities in the room were excellent, including small kitchen area, coffee machine and fridge with nice seating area. We ate in the restaurant and the food was excellent, freshly cooked and delicious as were the cocktails. The staff were all very friendly. The beach is a short walk through the forest.

We had an amazing stay at The Sunset Shack. Our room was comfortable, clean and spacious. Courteous and responsive staff. The restaurant on site offers an excellent breakfast and has a great food and cocktail menu, reasonably priced for Nosara. Pool is relaxing and quiet. Great location, close to the beach and everything else. Would stay here again.

The staff at the Sunset Shack were most accommodating; helping us with booking adventures and travel to & from destinations. They recommended incredible restaurants & local things to do. The staff is amazing & cordial! The food at Al Chile is absolutely fresh & delicious. Definitely has the Pura Vida vibe. The room was extremely spacious & very clean. We had everything we needed and I can't say enough about the cleanliness of the grounds, and the beauty. The staff is kind, friendly, courteous and amazing people! :) Reccomend this place 1,000%!!

Sunset Shack was in a great location, close to the beach, short walk to the shops and more restaurants. The room was spacious, comfy beds and amazing shower. The hotel/bungalows are quiet and the Al Chile restaurant joined to the hotel is great. We were able to order and eat by the pool.

the food at the restaurant was some of the best that we had in Nosara. Also the best lemonade and margaritas! I loved that it didn't feel busy even though the hotel was full. There was always a spot by the pool and in the restaurant. Having surf board storage was very helpful. The staff was very friendly and helpful, particularly in booking restaurant reservations and transportation when needed.

Amazing staff! Every single staff member from the restaurant, to reception, to the cleaning staff was friendly, helpful and genuine. Great location! Very short walk to beautiful beach. The included breakfast was good, you had a menu to choose from. I had a special diet, so they let me pick and choose.
