We liked very much our staying there. The room was clean and silent, breakfast was very good and fresh, and so was the afternoon tea (try the cachaça!), and the staff was very helpful. The bed is not that large but still comfortable enough. And you'll find wifi to surf tripadvisor for the attractions and restaurants of the city. It is a bit expensive, although still aligned with the prices of this highly touristic city, but very well located.

This is a perfect place to stay if you really want to get in touch with the best of this classic city, one of the oldest in all of Brazil. The hotel is located in an old home in the center of the city, an easy five-minute walk to the central square and all the shopping and dining options you need. It's also a short walk to all of the best churches and museums in the city. The hotel room had a comfortable bed, reliable wifi, strong shower and good breakfast included. They also served a very nice afternoon tea and snacks/cakes, which was included.

The breakfast was very good. Really nice strong coffee. Furnishings are lovely, bed linens perfect. My room looked right out at one of the beautiful churches. The staff was very helpful, especially Miriam who spoke English. Great hot water in the shower.

I stayed here 3 nights. Ouro Preto is a beautiful town, and this was a beautiful place to stay. The room was extremely large with high ceilings. The bathroom was generous with a huge countertop and a juliette balcony inside! There was a couch which was nice and all furnishings went with the theme of the room. All amenities provided - there wasn't anything it lacked (ie plugs, hair dryers, bed side tables). The rooms vary drastically in size and ambiance, so if they're not too full, be sure to check out different rooms. Staff were extremely friendly. Breakfast was very good - if I recall correctly, they will make eggs for you. And the typical Brazilian spread was there. Location was amazing - some rooms have views of church. You're just 100 metres from the main square, and the next two streets over are sort of the "main" streets of Ouro Preto. 5 minutes walking to a lot of the things you will want to go to. I would definitely stay here again.

We were very happy to stay at the Hotel do Teatro: very close to center, yet totally quiet, great views from the cosy rooms, basic but very sufficient breakfast, forthcoming hosts. This said, stay at least 2 nights to fully enjoy this marvellous city!

It's authentic. The location is amazing. Views from the old town. Breakfast has traditional treats and warm coffee. The staff was helpful. We had a leak in our room and they were open to move us to a better room or fix the problem. We really enjoyed the view from our room and they were able to fix the problem so we didn't need to change the room.

This historic property has been restored into an beautiful hotel that’s not to be missed in Ouro Preto. The bedding was luxurious, the excellent water pressure and ample hot water were much appreciated after a long day. The breakfast in the adjoining café was simply delicious. A huge thank you to Flavio and Paulo for always being attentive to my every need!

Breakfast was wonderful and the staff was super sweet. The rooms were clean and very nice, comfortable bed. The location of this hotel is perfect, in the middle of everything and easy excess to everything.

We had a 'premium suite', which was superb, and had a view over the rooftops towards one of the churches and the mountains beyond.

Amazing place! Super close to the center, very comfortable. All were friendly, helpful and dedicated to provide the best experience. Without hesitation would recommend the place and will definitely choose it again.

Location is excellent, very close to Tiradentes Square and to nice restaurants in a very nice street. It includes free parking (in the property) and the bedrooms are comfortable with a nice hot shower. It includes a small fridge, air conditioning and TV. Good bed and nice pillows for a good rest after walking up and down in the city streets. Staff is very polite and nice. Breakfast was good.

Excellent location, very close to Praça Tiradentes and good restaurants. Recently remodeled and very clean. Breakfast was very generous.

Perfect location next to the main attractions. Easy parking in the back. It is in fact a hotel and not a typical “pousada”. Excellent breakfast included.

Our stay at this Hotel was excellent. The entire staff, from the front desk, the restaurant & bar staff, to the maintenance people, were all very helpful and friendly. We had some special requests due to our health issues, and the staff were accommodating and provided solutions readily. The hotel itself is beautiful and preserves the colonial style. It is well located near the central district and next to local shops. The Hotel Bar is stunning and a particularly a fun spot to hang out.

Staying here was a very memorable experience for us, one we hope to repeat one day. The location of the hotel allows for tranquility while still being within close walking distance to the attractions of the historic center. The rooms are full of character, while also being well-equipped with modern conveniences. The public areas - the courtyards, the lounge areas, the bar, the restaurant - are spectacular. The breakfast is excellent, with more than enough variety and quality to satisfy anyone, managed by an attentive and very effective team. We loved Ouro Preto and this hotel would be our only choice for any future visit.

The variety offered at breakfast exceeded my expectations. There was always plenty on offer and more choices than the usual pousada. I loved that my room had a small balcony, the view was wonderful - looking out over the hills. The area by the swimming pool was well maintained and great for relaxing. I loved that check out was not til 1pm, so it meant that I could make the most of the morning. There are plenty of restaurants within walking distance, so I didn't need to take the car. It was great that my dog was welcomed - not only in the pousada, but the nearby restaurants as well! I definitely will be returning.

I liked the fantastic view from the balcony of the room. Breakfast had a variety of pastries and fruit. I also liked the pool, which is suitable for lap swimming. Short walking distance to the restaurants and shops of the small town.

The property is set up on a beautiful scenery, mainly at sunset. I loved sitting and relaxing in the heated swimming pool and watching the sunset, while sipping a well prepared caipirinha. Also, the property decoration, all consisting of rustic and antiques simulating a long gone old style farm house. The staff was just great. Always smiling, attentive to every need of the guests, and effective.

Adoramos a hospedagem. Fomos muito bem recepcionados, com simpatia, a localização é perto do centro, porém é em uma ladeira consideravelmente íngreme. Não recomendo que saia à pé quem não está acostumado a exercícios. O café da manhã foi satisfatório e as acomodações também. Nada a reclamar. Os hóspedes do quarto ao lado estavam falando em volume ALTÍSSIMO às 22h de domingo, sendo impossível não ouvir a conversa na primeira noite da nossa estadia, prontamente nos trocaram de quarto para um mais afastado e com silêncio. Conseguimos dormir bem! Nosso agradecimento à toda a equipe. RECOMENDO!

A pousada tem um ótimo custo x benefício. Fica um pouco afastada do centro, mas o principal incômodo é que fica numa área bem elevada. Então, de carro, tem que subir algumas ladeiras. Mas nada muito grave. Quartos bons e serviço OK. Café da manhã muito bom.

Super recomendo a pousada para quem procura tranquilidade e sossego para descansar e relaxar, ambiente familiar, aconchegante, uma bela vista das montanhas, excelente serviço de quarto, os donos são super atenciosos e receptivos,....nada contra a ladeira pois a cidade fica entre montanhas.

Estadia foi tranquila, café da manhã muito bom e o dono é muito gentil. A TV do quarto não conseguimos ligar e ele prontamente nos auxiliou. A banheira tem uma água muito quentinha e gostoso, mas estava com alguns cabelos. Consegui limpar.

The view from our room was spectacular (look for option with mountain view). This room also had a dedicated garage which we appreciated. Staff was incredibly friendly as is customary in Minas Gerais. The breakfast was excellent with many options and good quality. It wasn't exactly cheap, but much better than alternatives in Ouro Preto because it is a tourist town. Location is prime, within 5 minutes of Praça Tiradentes and some main attractions.

The place is better than advertised and everyone likes when our expectations is exceeded. Decent breakfast with variety of delicious homemade cookies, biscuits and more. A surprise afternoon tea treat free of charge. I also had a good time at the swimming pool and Sauna and mingling with other guests. Comfortable beds with cosy blankets. And the place is so clean, I felt myself cleaner just by entering the room. After shower I was renewed.

Short 5 min walk from center, close to everything. The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable, and the views of the mountains were AMAZING. I did not want to leave in the morning, was just mesmerizing watching the view. The hotel staff barely spoke English but we got by with some Spanish and lots of sign language, and they were super helpful, even helped me get instructions on how to book my bus to Rio. I was in Ouro Preto during carnival, so was wild out but the pousada was a short walk away from the center so on a more quiet street (though during carnival nothing is quiet... crazy loud music til wee hours of the day). I would definitely stay there again if I went back, such a cute town and cute bed and breakfast!!

Arrived at Confins airport 12 hours late, at 8 pm -- needed to get a bus to Ouro Preto--ticket seller at Belo Horizonte bus station very attentive--even arranged for a taxi to be waiting when I arrived in OP at 1 am. You'll need a taxi to get to your hotel, if you have more than a backpack! Streets are precipitous, windy, and mostly unmarked. A very welcoming country, in my experience. Amazing how the Brazilians keep their good humor....

Our room was spacious and had a beautiful view. The bathroom was clean and nice, with great towels (the best ones that we have seen in this trip). The hotel staff were very helpful, and offered plenty of options for breakfast. We enjoyed a relaxing evening playing chess after walking around town (hotel is only 6 minutes walk from the Saint Francis of Assis church).

We stayed there one night during our trip across Minas. The Luxor is a very nicely maintained historic building in the old town right across Nossa Senhora da Conceição and walking distance (uphill) to Praça Tiradentes - so location is perfect. We had a deluxe room on the corner with great views on the church across the street and the town towards Santa Efigenia. The bed was comfortable with the right hardness, the shower worked well, good Breakfast. The hotel has private parking.

Very stylish accommodation close to everything, very convenient and safe parking. You’re transported back in history with modern conveniences and beautiful view of the town. Staff speaks English which is be big reprieve from translator on cell phones. Breakfast is awesome and everything is organic, I haven’t eaten eggs with yellow orange yolks since I was a child! The staff is lovely, specially Rogério, who was attentive and friendly throughout our entire stay. The rooms are large, the beds are comfortable, the showers are warm and have great water pressure, the breakfast has a great selection of food and beverage items. There is also a lovely cinnamon scent throughout the hallways and in the rooms that is very pleasant and welcoming. I recommend the Boroni Palace Hotel and would definitely stay there again.

We rented a car at the airport in Belo Horizonte, never been in Ouro Preto before, we had previously reserved the room online. When I saw the location and the layout I was really glad we chose it rather than another hotel, by far the best for access and convenience. They have great service, attention to detail, breakfast and friendliness. One can park in front of the room, like in many hotels in the states.

Bathroom has all essential amenities. Delicious breakfast. We dined a couple of evenings at the hotel and the restaurant was another good surprise, amazing food and very reasonable prices. Location was great, walking distance from all main historical attractions. Hotel offers free shuttle service, but I strongly recommend walking the beautiful streets of Ouro Preto. Pousada do Arcanjo is a charming hotel located of the northern edge of Ouro Preto. The hotel is comfortable and offers 22 rooms in style. Free parking and Wi-Fi. Note that streets of the town are amongst the steepest on the planet. Walking is OK but you better be fit. The hotel offers a free shuttle to the centre. In the afternoon complimentary tea & cake is served. Staff is dressed in late 18-hundreds valet dress, and friendly & very helpful. Our room was nicely furnished and decorated, with a good queen-size bed, TV, air-conditioning, desk & chair, open wardrobe & fridge. We had a separate bathroom with washbasin, toilet and shower. All was clean. The window can be opened. The buffet breakfast is very good: a choice of cookies & cakes, bread & rolls, ham & cheese, butter & marmalade, scrambled eggs, juice & fruits, cereals & yoghurt, tea & coffee. We found Pousada do Arcanjo comfortable, and we had a good stay. Highly recommended.

This is one of the best pousada hotels I have ever had the pleasure of staying in. From the welcome at the outset through to the friendly send off 4 days later it was a joy to be a guest. Reception staff excellent and helpful, the concierge quite the best I have ever met, and then the room - steeped in colonial style and comfort. Stunning views to the hillsides and church opposite too. The restaurant was so good that my dear friend and I decided to "eat in". The waiting staff were superb and our first guides to Ouro Preto - how proud they were to give us tips and advice. The menu was inviting and the food tasty and reasonably priced. Breakfast was ample and a good start to the day. There was even afternoon tea served in the lounge where a wonderful log fire was lit in the evenings. Sheer comfort and joy. Nothing escaped attention. The national flag of international guests was flown from the time of their arrival. What a nice touch indeed! Archangel Inn is highly recommended to anyone who seeks a warm welcome, comfortable rooms, good food and undivided care and attention. A credit to Ouro Preto .....and Brazilian hospitality. Well done. We will most definitely return. Too good to miss.

Hotel Pousada do Arcanjo was an excellent choice for us in Ouro Preto. The room was large and had more space than we expected. Their service was excellent - everyone working at the hotel was friendly, and would always be helpful. The location is really convenient, a nice 10 minute walk to Praca Tiradentes, the historic center. The breakfast was delicious and the dinner we ate there was very tasty. Highly recommended!

I very much enjoyed staying at the Pousado do Arcanjo. The property is attractive and has a lot of nice traditional touches. The staff was friendly and willing to fight through their imperfect English (and my worse Portuguese). My room was large, as was the bathroom. The mini-bar was stocked with some interesting local items. WiFi worked great. The bed and bedding were a little dated, but not a problem. I liked the location of the hotel, an easy walk from the bus station--and importantly in Ouro Preto--with little change in elevation if you are carrying your bag. The hotel offers a complimentary van to the bus station or town center, but I never used it. The walk to the center takes about 15 minutes and is downhill. (The uphill walk back wasn't too taxing, I found, although Ouro Preto has some VERY steep climbs and descents). Breakfast at the hotel was great. My favorite thing about the hotel is the complimentary afternoon tea, served from 5 pm to 7 pm, replete with tasty cakes and snacks. A nice break before dinner after a long day of touring up and down the local hillsides.

The place is sooo cute and romantic, with a beautiful view. Ouro Preto is my favorite place so I really appreciated the view of this place. The location is perfect! Once you park your car you don’t need to move it. The room is the cutest thing every and the main house where you have breakfast is also so beautiful and clean. I would definitely stay here again!

Fabulous place to stay. Staff are excellent. Very helpful and always smiling. Great location, a few minutes walk away from the center of the old town. A highlight for us was the daily visits from the Marmoset monkeys. They are very cute. We also saw a flock of Toucans in the tree on the 1st day. Amazing. Breakfast is brilliant too. Highly recommend!

This was our favourite place we stayed in Minas Gerais, and it is because of the brilliant owners and their team. Simply the friendliest and most helpful place we have been in Brazil, with tips on where to go and what to see, an amazing breakfast, beautifully presented, with an option to be served in a stand alone conservatory area or in your room, and an ideal location just outside of Ouro Preto but easy to get into town when you want to. Our children were so looked after and happy, could not ask for more. We'll be back!

History Hostel is in a good area not too far from the center offering very comfortable accommodation. The hostel is simple, clean, and have modern facilities. I like how they put a lot of thought in designing the hostel to have all that a traveler needs for an enjoyable stay. The kitchen is well equipped and is available for use and they have small areas for chilling, meeting people, or doing a bit of work. They also have a small outdoor area for laundry, and have rfid keys for security. Everything is clean and organized. This is beyond what I normally see in many many hostels. The best part is that the hosts, and volunteers were very welcoming and friendly. They have plenty of recommendations for your stay in Ouro Preto. It is clear that Italo and his team work hard to make this space feel like home. Hudson, especially has very good taste in music :) History is one of the best hostels I have stayed at. I felt at home.

10 reasons this hostel deserves all the high ratings, I'd give them 100 stars if I could! Don't think twice, book here, thank me later. Perfect location, best hosts, super super clean, excellent quality at a very good price, washer/dryer (YES!), really well equipped kitchen (blender, air fryer, all the usual) great showers, comfortable beds with plugs and your own individual fan, privacy curtains, huge security lockers, 24 hour access, beautiful mountain view, details and super tips for tourist attractions on a budget, etc. Also I had so much fun with the other guests here. The hosts went with us one night to a microbrewery and a panoramic viewpoint after, really a special evening. I actually visited 2 other hostels where a friend worked, slightly higher prices but not nearly as nice as History Hostel. By far the very best place in town. Ah, and Ouro Preto is a must visit if you're near Rio or São Paulo. Just go!!

Super nice Staff! Luis makes Delicious coffee! Very clean and spacious. Kitchen is very well equipped, they have an oven, microwave and an Air fryer. They even have wet trowels in the toilet. Location is close to the center, be prepared to walk up and down those hills!

When searching for places to stay in Ouro Preto, Casa de Meninos quickly became my top choice, and it truly exceeded my expectations. The location is fantastic, situated near the Centro Histórico and within walking distance of many attractions and excellent restaurants. The property itself is charming and well-maintained, a perfect marriage between historical charm with modern comfort. From the excellent bathroom products to the quality bed linens and many pillow selections, it’s clear that the owners, Fabrício and Romulo, made a great effort into ensuring their guests feel at home. Each morning, I looked forward to the expertly prepared breakfast, which was not only delicious but also gave me a sense of home. Fabrício is an exceptional cook, and I wholeheartedly encourage guests to compliment him on his culinary skills! Both owners are also wonderful conversationalists; Fabrício is cultured, while Romulo impresses with his sharp intellect on a variety of topics. This is a small business that I happily recommend to family and fellow travelers alike.

I loved everything! The property is beautiful and very well located near everything! The hosts, Fabricio and Romulo were very attentive, friendly and kind! Caco, the dog was also so sweet and quiet! Silvia kept everything super clean and organized! Now the breakfast was absolutely amazingly delicious! Fabricio made it fresh every morning! I highly recommend Casa dos Meninos! Before I arrived they send me a list of all kinds of information I might need during my stay!

The staff was excellent, as was the breakfast. Both my room and the whole pousada were very clean, The location is quiet, not too far away from the historical center of Ouro Preto. There are two types of rooms: the old ones in the original building, probably with less steps to reach the reception and the breakfast room, and the new ones, recently built, maybe more comfortable but with a lot of steps - I was in a new room.

Good central location near to Tiradentes square. Comfortable and clean. Very good breakfast

As we were coming by car from Belo Horizonte, it has been a bit hard to find the street where the Pousada is located. And this cobbled street is really steep (about 70%)! The first time, I asked someone at the hotel to drive the car for me into their parking area, half way down this steep, cobbled road! Once you get to the reception, there is not really anything appealing. The staff & the receptionist were really friendly & helpful. Our room was on the first-floor and it was a real treat. The room was nice and had a small balcony with a stunning view over the hills and the roofs of this gorgeous mining town. The air was so cool that there was no need to use the A/C. The room had an empty fridge and no safe deposit box. But it was pleasant. The bathroom was great and spotlessly clean & modern. Everything is at a walking distance. The pousada does not have a restaurant. But there are a few nice ones nearby. Breakfast was nice too. A selection of freshly squeezed juices, plenty of fresh fruits and many pastries. Needless to say that this was a very quiet place and we enjoyed staying there during 3 nights. You can't forget the view! A great place highly recommended.

Do not be put off by the narrow entrance corridor, crudely lit by bare compact fluorescent lamps. The old styled reception is at the end of the short corridor. This is a simple, clean, friendly and charming pousada, very well located a few mins walk from main square. A good basic breakfast where they make their own cheese balls in the adjacent kitchen. Our room was comfortable with excellent large shower, and a small balcony with wonderful views over the town and mountains. Off the reception area is a large terrace with tables and chairs and again wonderful views. We met 2 friendly house cats. Staff telephoned for us to make a booking for the next day in another town (at a discount).

It's a charming place. Definitely ask for a room at the to plevel so you wake up to a beautiful view. Rooms are spacious and clean. I haven't met anybody in staff that knows English but they go beyond expected to help you out. Breakfast is good. Lots of pastries, sweets, which is typical for Brazil. Fresh orange juice as much as you can drink :) Location is great. Very central, but up on a steep hill.

I had a great stay here over Easter weekend! Perfect location! Helpful staff (if you speak Portuguese... But I'm sure they'd find a way to help even if you didn't). Comfortable bed. Balcony overlooking the city. Nothing fancy, but really a quiet, restful retreat that served as the perfect base for exploring the city!

We really enjoyed our stay at Pousada dos Contos. It's a beautiful, old, classic building that blends perfectly with the architecure of the town. The room was clean, comfortable lovely, clean and had a wonderful view of the town and the surrounding mountains. . Locationwise, it's just a stone throw to the main plaza and also very close to the main bus station and the bus stop to Mariana. Breakfast was good, and the staff was friendly. The only drawback: there was no wi fi available at our room, nor at any part in the hotel. They had a PC but it seems like someone was working on it all the time. So if you really need your internet connection, you will probably not appreciate that. Other than that, we really loved our stay over there.

The property was really cozy and at a good location. We really recommend other guests staying here not only because of the property, but the owner was very friendly, helpful, and recommended/offered us things to do at a good price.

The location and view was exceptional. Loved our little stay and would have loved to have stayed longer. Thoroughly recommend and make sure you drink some of the homemade cachacha 😁

Our hosts could not have been kinder, friendlier, or more helpful. We would definitely stay here again. Loved the laid-back feel. Pilates studio a real bonus! Pilates lesson with Sisi a must :-)

Andrea met us with a smile and open hands! We had a great time. The place is very clean and pleasant to stay. Andrea helped us with recommendations. Definitely will come back again

The entire staff that worked at Pousada Ouro Preto were incredible kind and helpful. I was able to extent my stay and the staff agreed to hold my luggage after the check out because my bus left at 17h. The view from the pousada, central location, and the amazing staff make staying at Pousada Ouro Preto definitely worth it! When I come back to Ouro Preto, I will stay here again.

It’s a charming 19th.Century House(located behind the Artcraft little Market)with multiple bedrooms with remarkable overview of ‘Ouro Preto’, this Historycal Heritage treasure in Brazil! Andressa caters for a ‘welcoming Breakfast’, with fresh bread, cake, cheese, granola, fruit juice, local coffee. The best you can get in a Hostel in Brasil. Wait and see 👌

Great location and views with a delicious breakfast.

This place is in the historical center but it's in a very steep cobblestone street where only one car fits so be prepared for driving very slowly. It's at the end of a dead end street. The place has a good view. Great breakfast.

Bernardo and his sister Annabella welcomed us like if we were family! They took time to show us the town and helped to find out a restaurant opened on Chistmas Eve. The breakfast was reinvented every morning to let us try all the traditional food. All in all, it felt like meeting good old friends! If you're looking to make the best of Ouro Preto, you have to stay there!

Treatment from day one was to please. As soon as we entered, Bernardo sat down with us to give us recommendations of things to do and eat. All of his recommendations were great! Don't worry about there not being AC at the property. It's always chilly there apparently (I'm from Texas and used to AC).

The welcome we received on arrival by the door boy was certainly lacking in enthusiasm, he was more interested in talking to a girl on his phone... typical teenager. The room is just as shown in the photos, nice comfortable beds, the shower was large and modern and the breakfast decent. However, when looking at the site it seems much closer to the city centre than it actually is, if you're travelling alone, or as a couple it's fine to walk into the main historic centre, but not ideal if you're travelling with small children as we were. Also, the view was far from scenic, all we could see was a petrol station under construction and a car park. I gave it 4 stars because we had a good night's sleep, and a good breakfast.

Atendimento muito agradável de todos! Quartos confortáveis e perto do centro. Café da manhã gostoso. Quarto que fiquei (com varanda)não tem central de ar apenas ventilador que foi suficiente. Somente o barulho dos carros e motos que começa cedo, para quem tem problema com isso, pois a pousada fica em uma rua asfaltada movimentada. Eu nao tive problema, porém outra pessoa pode ter.
