Views and location were great. We like the infinity pool and jacuzzi and beach.

We stayed here for 5 nights in March 2025. It's very luxurious, and has a truly beautiful location on Hanalei Bay. Princeville itself is a pristine, manicured golf community, which will be very appealing to some, and may feel kinda fake to others. The whole area has an amazing view of the mountains and ocean. The hotel is lovely but a bit pretentious. It has very nice pools and a beach area. The pool towels are the size of bedsheets, and a (really gorgeous) pair of men's swim shorts could cost you $530 in the boutique. Two mai tais at the bar, with a decent tip, will run you $60. Staff are professional and friendly. Guests tend to be aloof, lots of tight spandex and earbuds. The breakfast buffet was quite nice. Parking is valet only, but they're quick and helpful. The Saturday night scene at the bar / Japanese restaurant was really cool, with live music and excellent food. I highly recommend hiking at nearby Ha'ena State Park, but you *must* have advance reservations for either parking or the shuttle van. Hanalei Beach is right next door to the hotel, but it's a 10 minute drive on the winding roads. (Apparently you can walk over, which involves a river crossing, but we didn't try that). You can rent surfboards there. A high point for us was a helicopter tour with Blue Hawaiian from nearby Princeville airport. Pricey but *jaw-dropping* sights and very professional (you want clear weather for that).

This is a gorgeous hotel!!! The staff are excellent , friendly, and helpful. The beach has sand w some rocks and many turtle sightings, and snorkeling. It is located on a wide deep bay. Our rooms had both AC and fans that kept us cool and comfortable. Many amenities. We had a rainy day and there is a fun game room for adults and kids. We did enjoy the beautiful adult pool area as well as the beach level pools. Again, the staff is top notch. We had dinner at Hotel 1 and it was very tasty and fresh. Many choices for our varied palates. Exercise room is FULLY furnished w all modes of cardio and weights. Huge! Bikes and nearby walking paths w stunning views. The spa is first rate and I had an amazing deep tissue massage w hot rocks. Wanda is an expert at her ability to gently smooth the knots and make your body feel healthy. I would highly recommend booking a massage w her. Even with rain…. This is an amazing hotel.

My recent stay at 1 Hotel in Kauai, Hawaii, was nothing short of extraordinary! From the moment we arrived, we were enveloped in luxury and beauty. The resort is incredibly swanky, with meticulously maintained grounds that make you feel like you've stepped into a tropical paradise. The private beach is simply the most amazing beach I've ever experienced. The crystal-clear waters and pristine sands provided the perfect backdrop for relaxation and fun. We spent hours basking in the sun and enjoying the serene atmosphere. The food at the resort was absolutely delightful. Every meal was a culinary masterpiece, bursting with flavor and creativity. The staff at 1 Hotel were incredibly helpful and polite, always going above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed. Special thanks to the manager, Nicholas Gold, who made our stay exceptionally comfortable. Nicholas was always available to assist us with any requests, making us feel truly valued and cared for. If I could suggest one improvement, it would be to add a few more dinner entrees to the 1 Kitchen menu, which also serves as the in-room dining menu. Having a bit more variety would elevate the dining experience even further. Overall, 1 Hotel Kauai is a paradise on earth. The impeccable grounds, stunning private beach, delectable food, and outstanding staff make it a must-visit destination. I cannot wait to return for another unforgettable stay!

Had an amazing time at the 1 Hotel Hanalei Bay. We went there for our babymoon and loved every minute of it. The staff went out of their way to help us organize multiple activities during our vacation. Anthony and Mimi at the reception were very friendly and gave us a nice tour of the hotel. They upgraded us to an ocean view lounge room at check in. Kathryn and the concierge staff were great and helped me plan special activities for my wife to celebrate the babymoon even before we arrived. They even helped me arrange a photoshoot with Jared from Coral Phototgraphy that involved cutting a gender reveal cake. The hotel staff baked a special cake for us, and had it ready for the 7am photoshoot. The photoshoot was very well done and the pictures came out beautifully. The staff at the hotel restaurants including Phillip and Eliza were very friendly and gave great food recommendations. The view from our room and Welina Terrace is unbeatable! This truly is a fantastic hotel with wonderful staff who went of their way to make our stay special and enjoyable. We will certainly be back.

The property is beautiful! The beach is so nice and private to just two resorts, the resort will take you down to the beach in a golf cart and provide you with beach chairs and an umbrella. The pool on the resort is so peaceful and nice, the hot tub/jacuzzi is top notch

It’s a wonderful resort! I recommend it to anyone. The rooms are spacious, clean and very quiet especially at night and early morning (the island is full of roosters!), the kitchen is fully equipped. The resort has pools, a jacuzzi, lots of tennis courts (you can rent equipment and/or sign in for a tennis lesson), access to the beach. In addition the territory is well maintained and beautiful with lots of tropical plants.

This resort was beautiful with access to a secluded beach, “Hideaway Beach. The grounds of HBR are very well maintained, makes you feel you are in a botanical garden. The main pool is very large with a sand bottom jacuzzi. The second pool ( next to the bbq grills ) is fantastic too. We enjoyed very good poke and excellent Mai-Tai cocktails at their lobby restaurant “Happy Talk”. Mahalo HBR team ! 🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺

The property was beautiful. The room was spacious and very comfortable. Even though we didn’t have an ocean view we very much enjoyed our view of the mountains and waterfalls and all the beautiful plants. The beach was a bit of a walk but through beautiful paved tropical paradise. Good snorkeling right off the beach and a closeby beach bar. Great bar/restaurant with awesome views and friendly staff. Would definitely stay here again.

This property is BEAUTIFUL. We stayed in the Bougainvillea building on the 1st floor corner room, where our ground floor patios faced the side edge of the pool, but also faced the gorgeous abundant mountain range. This was technically a “garden view room,” but it’s almost impossible to have a bad view anywhere at this resort, I imagine. Our unit was a timeshare unit (not privately owned) that we booked via Expedia. For just 2 of us we had 2 patios (one from master, one from living room), 2 full bathrooms, 2 closets, 2 front entry doors, a living room and a master bedroom AND a full kitchen and pantry! The hallway of the master had a privacy door that closed off at the kitchen if privacy needed. The unit had a musty smell to it. It was overall clean. There was a little bug on top of the blanket of the bed. The linen and trash service was great and efficient. Amenities are so great — The lobby is beautiful & welcoming. The lagoon pool is gorgeous and huge & open til 10pm I believe (there is no swim-up bar anymore). The Happy Talk Lounge/Bar is lovely in the evening, with live music. There are like 10 tennis courts. 4 beach towels in the room, but beach towels are unlimited as long as you return the wet ones. The beach access was a slightly long walk down a paved trail, easily doable for active people, but there is shuttle service (golf cart). The beach is AMAZING in terms of beauty and seclusion, and the VIEW of the mountain ranges! The parking is pretty good/can get full.

I highly recommend this place if you plan to spend a lot of time on the north shore and a secluded place to stay. The room is big and the kitchen is very easy to use. We cooked many of our meals with food bought from a nearby town (you do need to drive 15 mins for this) and ate from our patio, watching ocean waves beating on the shore. The 2 nearby beaches (5 and 10 mins drive each) are great and not very crowded, especially if you go early in the day. One of the beaches (Lumaha'i) offers a pond like river you can safely swim in. The Hanalei town is 15 mins drive and you can buy pretty much everything you need there. The pool area is newly renovated, clean and quiet. Staff was very friendly and treated us like friends and it was clear they enjoyed what they were doing. We also learnt the place was central to helping with impact recovery from the 2018 flooding and hosted national guards, impacted residents and students, which was very admirable. The only inconveniences were 1) wifi was slow however that actually pushed us away from the Internet and into enjoying connecting with our environment and 2) shower did not have detachable heads making it harder to shower our small child.

A beautiful location and property. Wonderful pool area and amazing beachfront experience. Watching the sunrise and sunset over the ocean at the beach was fantastic. They have a shuttle service that is included in your stay, making it very easy to drink responsibly in town and come back safely. Or go to one of the nearby beaches where parking is nearly impossible. The room was homey, well supplied with the basics, includes beach chairs and umbrella, and has great airflow. However, we did encounter massive cockroaches (2-3 inches long approximately) near the kitchen area. We know animals are a part of the experience when visiting the garden isle. The geckos seen on the balcony were fun. And the kittens on the property were very cute. Another animal experience were the American bullfrogs that cover the area. The noise they make at night is loud and constant. A sound similar to a washing machine running in the next room. It’s impractical to close the windows and doors because of the weather, so bring earplugs. There were multiple power outages at the resort during our stay, luckily, we were either just about to leave or it happened at night when we were asleep, so it didn’t affect us too much. The service was great, when available. The office is not open at night, and sometimes is not open during posted hours. Although everyone was very accommodating, very welcoming, and super friendly. If you’re looking to be in nature and get away, this is the right place.

This is a very well-maintained property at a beautiful location. The interior decoration is 'old school.' The inside arrangement of the unit we stayed in included a private bedroom, another sitting room that could be used as a separate single bedroom, a studio couch in the living room, and two full baths (one shower was a bit small). This was all very well done and provided good privacy with sliding screens. The Hollywood kitchen is well equipped. Some visitors will be put off by the lack of radio/television/stereo and air conditioning. However, air conditioning is certainly not necessary here in the winter months. Also note that the beach, while nice to sit on and look at, is not swimmable. There are great beaches nearby. The community pool is brand new and very well done, if a bit small. The fact that there is a restaurant/bar on-property is convenient. Seniors, please note that steep stairs are needed to get to the upper units. This is not convenient especially if you are carrying luggage, groceries, etc. Seniors may wish to avoid staying in the upper units. Bring books, Kindles, tablets, and MP3s with your music because, as mentioned, there are no entertainment devices in the units. Internet is available.

Beautiful, beach front location. Quiet area on the ocean. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Not much in the way of amenities (grocery / restaurants) right near by. Must travel to Hanalei to purchase supplies / food for the fridge. The only issue we had was the overhead lights. Multiple times during the stay the lights would turn on by themselves - they turned on at 5am and again around 9-10pm, both times we were sleeping. It could be the sensors in the other rooms or some other issue. The restaurant was ok. Wasn’t anything spectacular but the service was decent and the views were worth it. We would stay here again.

I loved staying at HCR! I was staying in Kauai for 10 days, and decided to stay there for 3 days, and the other 7 elsewhere, but in hindsight I wished I had stayed at HCR for 7 and the other for 3. It's a really cool little property with condos next to a primo beach. Staff is super-friendly and helpful. The property is gorgeous. I love that it had a really good restaurant and coffee shop on premise, and then you're a short drive away from a picturesque little town where there are a lot more amenities. In your condo you get a full kitchen, nice bathroom, and if you are on the 2nd floor you get a great little porch. I found it so relaxing there, and would definitely stay there again next time I'm in Kauai.

I loved the quietness and privacy of your single unit 2 bedroom cottages. I loved the feral cats, and the roosters and chickens. I loved your staff, how simple and easygoing you made everything during my stay. You are all so attentive, and reply quickly to questions no matter how stupid they may be. I stayed alone and couldn't get my screen door open to the patio off my bedroom. Not even 5 minutes passed and a very nice man appeared at my door and explained the locks......in such a nice kind way I didn't feel like a dummy at all! Your pool and jacuzzi.... always clean and quiet, especially at night, but I felt safe knowing it was being patrolled by your staff on golf carts without interfering with my time or privacy. I truly did not want to leave your premises. So caring, wonderful, peaceful. I could live on your premises forever. Trying to save and bring some family members with me in the near future. I can't think of anything bad to say about your resort. You are all to be commended. Thank you so very much for giving me such a peaceful, pleasurable, relaxing vacation. I highly recommend you to everyone I know, and so hoping I get to return soon. Thanks for everything. ❤️

Our stay far exceeded my expectations. We are a family of 5 (kids ages 9, 12 and 14). We’ve never been to Hawaii and were looking for budget friendly options that included laundry and a kitchen. We found all that plus more at Makai! Check in was smooth and easy. Our cottage was just across from the office and was much more spacious than I expected. The kitchen was well stocked with enough place settings and silverware and cooking pots/utensils and pans for the 5 of us (I think there was 8+ place settings and many different sized pots and pans). The kitchen was immaculate. Everything was spotless and in like new condition. I would hire their cleaning staff in a a heartbeat if NY wasn’t so far away. I do wish the provider salt/pepper and cooking spray but mostly because I feel bad having to buy and then toss them. There was also a blender, coffee maker (don’t forget to bring coffee filters), toaster, electric tea kettle, microwave, full fridge/freezer and stove/oven. The washer and dryer worked great. They provided us with beach and bathing towels. There was both an indoor dining area and a patio set on a large deck overlooking the golf course. The beds were comfortable. There is no AC but there are fans and we stayed cool enough with just the fans and open windows at night. The pool and hot tubs are small but not in great demand so we often had them to ourselves. The kids loved them. We used the grills one night too which was nice. We highly recommend the cottage!

Unit 707 had a view of mountains, was clean and spacious. We enjoyed having breakfast and coffee on lanai listening and watching the birds. Condo was close to MakaI golf course, had great amenities and s6aff very friendly and informative. Walking distance to Hideaway lookout and Hideawaus Pizza Pub in Princeville. Not enough parking at condo if get in late, but allowed to park along roadway as long as don't block driveway. Not much parking at lookout.

Great location, close to dining options, a grocery store, etc, just a few minutes drive away. Note you'd have to drive to any of the nearby beaches. Very clean, comfortable condos. Kitchen fully equipped. AC units in the living room and bedroom - both worked well. Staff courteous and helpful. Plenty of parking. Quiet area. Appreciated the small laundry detergent packets to use with the washer/dryer in the condo unit. Super convenient. Recommended.

The property was well kept. Our unit was clean well equipped and spacious. We had lots of privacy on our lanai. The staff at the club house were very helpful and friendly. It was a great plus to be able to loan beach chairs/umberella for our stay. The cooler in the unit was a real plus. We enjoyed our stay in the area.

We stayed at the Wyndham for a short while but enjoyed the place, the unit was very spacious and well equipped. Pool and hotub were amazing and the service was very generous and hosted free Mai tai w music for all. Highly recommend

We were sooo happy with our stay. The great customer service, the super comfortable beds, and the Jacuzzi tub as an added bonus we weren’t expecting. 🙌😃

We loved the place. Good location and nice property. Only problem we had was the the jacuzzi tub didnt work and maintenance never showed up to fix it. Otherwise was great.

First time in the island and Resourt stuff made it unforgettable. Friendly, willing to go out of their way to provide exceptional service. They provide a map, a list of things to do, food for KOI that they have in the Resourt’s pond. We enjoyed fresh brewed coffee available next from the desk. We also rented snorkeling gear, beach chairs and an umbrella at the SP hanalei trading right next to main pool. The gear was to take it to local beach. They have food trucks and ice cream trucks that visit property. We took advantage of that and save our self a couple of trips to restaurants or cook ourselves. Ice cream truck have some delicious pineapple ice cream. We all enjoyed and had a great time.

Location: at Princeville, a nice town. It is great for quiet beaches and snorkelling, not much for shopping. Facility: a resort. Not fancy and just a group of villas as the name indicated. There is a pool and every guest receives a wrist band with electronic key, although I didn't use it. The property is not on the beach and rooms do not have ocean views. Room: The units are good sized and clean. Bathrooms and kitchen look modern. Very comfortable, but not luxurious. Service: the front desk is large and has very good staff. There was no daily maid servoce. We didn't need other services, and not sure about on-site activities. Parking: easy and free, in front of the house. Safety: not gated, but the whole area looks safe. Mostly fellow vacationers.

I think this was probably the best customer service I have ever received in a hotel. Any request was followed with a confirmation text. The staff was friendly and helpful. We had some friends that had lost luggage, and Ka 'Eo Kai went out of their way to help. The only negative was, the room I stayed in did not have A/C so the windows were kept open, which meant the roosters which are a problem all over the island were a loud. Other than that the space was luxurious and clean. The beds were comfortable. And... I can't say enough times how courteous and kind the hotel staff is at this resort.

Comfortable suite, great pool, wonderful location. Appreciated information about farmers markets and activities ( where to rent SUP’s or surfboards). And the reminder to book our visit to Ha’ena state park early. Well equipped kitchen, and we loved the spacious lanai on our 2 nd floor suite. The staff were attentive and helpful. Really appreciated the text messages with info before and during our visit! We will definitely return. Thank you for an unforgettable vacation.

The facilities are comfortable and the views are beautiful. In the surrounding areas, there is only one supermarket and it is very expensive; there are few restaurants. In the Club there are no supermarkets nor restaurants,

Stayed on the ground level in a 2 bedroom with full kitchenette, and washer/dryer. Unit was spacious, and there was also a large lanai area. This property is more of a condo type instead of a hotel. My cons are that there is no AC - Floor fans are available but was only given 1 instead 2 due to limited supply; The floors are not sound proof. We could hear every foot step and movements from the people above us. Not ideal for people who have infants which was the case for us; The pool had outdoor rubbish and bugs - does not appear to be cleaned daily. Other than that, it was a nice and relaxing stay, and convenient to the shopping areas.
