Loved everything single thing. Room was fabulous, super spacious. Love the separate bathroom, closet and kitchen station. Balcony with view of the ocean was awesome. Love the clean modern style. The hotel is very clean and modern. The staff were friendly and welcoming and the breakfast was good. Our room was very spacious and clean with two queen beds and a sofa seating area. We enjoyed having a balcony too. The hotel is in a nice quiet location but only a short walk from all the fun. The hotel has secure parking. I would recommend this hotel.

Hello fellow TA. Wife and i spent one night in Santa Cruz. Wanted to see the Boardwalk we as kids an teens /few times as adults look liked . Many memories !1 Also a must Shadow Brook restaurant Capitola 5 miles away from Santa Cruz an La Quinta. Writing this review keep in mind wife an i are 74yrs old. La Quinta is a newer hotel. Very nice well kept an 2 blocks from Boardwalk. Parent with kids Or younger beach goers very much your hotel. My comment here is for older adults. We found hotel an us being older an not necessary fond of a lot of kids around very enjoyable the night we stayed. Was Mid week so weekends could be a different story. Excellent location / excellent breakfast in morning. Desk /maids /service all did a fine job. Pool small an filled with kids so again older people looking for pool action an bothered by noise an kid stuff not advised for you. Small balcony we had over looked pool an view of ocean. Kept door closed on noise from pool an enjoyed view. Do ask for 2 nd or 3 floor. Would stay again!! Would close in 74 years have never seen Boardwalk as clean an well kept !! also charge you for parking at hotel or early check in !!! But Do not have to move car out of garage till 2:30 day of departure. Very nice feature !! I have a Wyndham free to get CC also so did with points. Benefits may also cut some check in fees etc. Will stay again !!

My wife and I rode our Can-Am Spyder (3-wheel motorcycle) from the East Bay down to Santa Cruz and knew we would want to stay the night, so I did some research and this looked like the perfect place for us. We were greeted by a very friendly person at the front desk, quickly checked in and advised on how to raise the gate of the parking garage on the side of the building. The garage was nice, yes, they charge $25 a day to park there, sadly, that is typical of the area. Our room was large, really clean, though the couch has a few stains, the balcony was a pleasant surprise to be able to step onto. Everything in the room worked well, it had a mini-fridge, coffee maker and microwave. The breakfast in the morning was your standard hotel breakfast with scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, make your own waffles, cereals, assorted breads, bagels, fruit and such, but everything was well stocked, and the area kept clean. I was very happy with it, for what it was. The hotel is less than 5 minutes from the main wharf, 10 minutes to the Boardwalk, 10 -15 minutes to the downtown, all by foot and an easy walk. Great location and it seems like the hotel is fairly new.

Great location and hot water jacuzzi near pool

From the cheerful greeting by the valet, to the knowledgeable front desk person who checked us in, our first impression of the Hyatt Place Santa Cruz was overwhelmingly positive. The surf decor in the lobby. The sparkling cleanliness of the room. The delicious and abundant breakfast (sausages, scrambled eggs, waffles, cereal, bagels, oatmeal, donut holes, coffee, tea, juice, milk, and on and on). The pool. The jacuzzi. It was all so clean and fun and quiet. Plus, close to the Santa Cruz Boardwalk, a block away from our favorite Thai restaurant. The list goes on. We will definitely be back!

This was only our 2nd time staying at this hotel and I was impressed both times. The employees are helpful and friendly. I like the location. The breakfast is amazing, big variety. The room was comfortable and clean and we didn’t experience any noise issues. It was easy to stream Netflix, Hulu, etc and the employees were quick to help with anything we needed. The pool and hot tub added to our stay and the area was secure and clean. We stayed on the 3rd floor and I felt safe, especially with the elevator key cards.

We found this hotel clean, comfortable, spacious, quiet and an all-around nice experience. I almost didn't book given some of the previous reviews, but I'm so grateful we stayed here. Yes - quite expensive, but it was a weekend night. We paid the same for a total dive closer to the Boardwalk - never again. The walk to the Boardwalk took about 15 minutes, through a decent neighborhood. No big deal, we did it several times. We easily found parking on the street, which I'm sure the neighbors don't appreciate, but it worked for us. Beds were comfortable, plenty of towels and HOOKS (my pet peeve), blackout shades. Breakfast was good - lots of choices. The pool looked inviting and clean, unfortunately we didn't have time to enjoy it between going to the Boardwalk and surfing. A couple things that would make it better - a small table in our suite and water stations on each floor. Will stay again but try to book sooner at a lower rate if possible.

Hotel is a super upgraded motel. Decor is very classy and modern. Perfect if you have a dog or two. Bed is comfortable. Down stairs rooms have nice patios. Pool and jacuzzi area is awesome. Lobby is nice to hang out in. Negatives rooms are a bit small my husband is a large guy, next time we would book the suite or stay elsewhere. For an autograph not at bar or above the bar, slightly less than you expect. They could have a microwave if they want to be a motel type. If the want to be more upper class they need better coffee maker - nesspresso or hamilton or other better coffee and tea. Shampoos /soap is very nice. So overall it is a mix. We moved to a hotel with all suites in monterey . Enjoy!!!

The lobby, restaurant, and pool areas are very nice. The pool is heated to the perfect temperature and seems clean. The pool area is relaxing and not too crowded, plus drink and food service is fast and friendly. All the other staff were great, too. The only issue with service was that when we wanted to order dessert at around 8:00 pm, the app wasn't working even though the kitchen was still open. I called and was put on hold twice, one time for over 10 minutes. I finally just gave up. The rooms could use remodeling. One of the lampshades in our room had water damage, the shower drain was slow, and the fan does not work well in the bathroom, so ventilation isn't great. As others have mentioned, the toilets flush very loudly. Otherwise, the room was comfortable enough for three nights. The hotel is in a convenient location, walkable to downtown, but you have to pass through a sort of sketchy park to get there.

The Paradox is in a good location to access the main Santa Cruz locations you might be coming for- downtown and wharf/boardwalk- and easy to drive to any other locations. It is not close to the UC but easy to get to. If you like walking, getting to the beach was an easy 7 or so blocks. The property was immaculate and modern. Parking lot is safe and easy, though paying to park is not a plus for me. The pool is lovely, warm, and and well protected. Our room was very clean and the mattress was really comfortable (I like firmer pillows personally so might bring one of my own next time) Had a small issue getting the temp right but figured it out. Everyone was helpful and friendly and I would definitely stay there again- have stayed overnight at various hotels in the area and I like this one the best for one that is not on the beach.

Very clean and the rooms were spacious and beds were comfortable. The pool area was nice. The property was very well maintained. There were restaurants nearby and easy access to freeway. The drinking water bottle fill up stations were very convenient. The valet staff were very helpful.

Love water upon check in, they help you with early check in if available, love the pool and jacuzzi and restaurant and koi pond! Love to be able to walk .5 miles to get to Nisene forest. Staff was so nice all around and appreciated those who really helped our kids with koi fish food and fast service at meals

First up I used points for my two night stay here so I can’t judge the prices. Check in was fast. Staff very friendly. There are two parking garages. The first one when you enter is small, pass that one and go to the other side of entrance. There you will go down a ramp under the hotel to a much larger garage. There is an elevator there to bring you up. The room was clean, comfortable and quiet. I was bumped up to a mini suite which included a couch area which was nice. Free breakfast offers the standard items. The pool was supposed to be heated but I tried to take a dip one night and I doubt that thing was heated. If it was they need to crank it up a few notches. There is a fitness room and guest laundry room as well. Location is good. You can walk to a few food places and entrance to some freeways is right up the street. The beach area and other shops and restaurants is a very short drive away. Definitely would stay here again.

The building is clean and well maintained. Service competent and polite. Room was quiet, bed comfortable, showers hot, heater worked great- no reason to complain at all. Convenient access to major highways, restaurants, fuel but you don't hear the highway or the road. Parking area is well lit and has security cameras- 24/7 staff which is nice. I'd stay there again.

Our room was very clean and our king bed was quite comfortable. The staff were all friendly and helpful. The location was perfect for us because of the easy freeway access. This hotel chain has a good complimentary breakfast and additionally, there were several eating options within blocks.

Upon entry, I was greeted by three people, which is absolutely amazing. The staff is so friendly and kind and they reminded me about breakfast in the morning when I was checking in for my room the day before I love that I was able to contact the front desk at any time. The staff is absolutely amazing. The hotel is beautiful and clean. I will most likely stay here again and recommend my friends to come here.

We had a great time in Santa Cruz and loved the large room and jacuzzi bathtub. The staff was very helpful and friendly.

Superb cleanliness, spacious rooms, beds were comfortable, breakfast was nice and not crowded. Downside was no hot tub. Appreciate the friendliness of the lady at the front desk. Thank you! Ran into few minor issues, 2nd TV didn't work, maintenance in building stinky because of tub reglazing and there is only a thin top cover for a blanket. We loved how 3rd floor was so quiet, such cute beach themed decor thru out, softest towels ever, wet bar with Keurig, newly remodeled and we thought the couch was really comfortable. Parking was tight but not any worse than other underground parking. Plenty of spaces and smelled fresh and clean from power washing. cleaning. $15 over night Easy access to hwy 1, walking to beach is possible but kinda far. Great Beach hut deli across the street

I love the staff. They were great. The coffee bar was nice! The room was nice and clean. The bed was clean and soft. The living room was clean and comfortable with a nice flat screen. The refrigerator was clean and cold. The coffee creamers in the room were good but flavored ones would have been better.

Perfect for the family including our pet.We came in from out of town and the check in and out was hassle free. The staff was friendly and accommodating. The jacuzzi tub was nice! The outside can be loud but the door does a really good job of blocking out the sound of traffic.

No complaints. Didn’t find jacuzzi until check out- apparently under a carport so an unusual placement. Didn’t ask earlier so wasn’t a big deal.

Pro: accommodate a quiet room request with no excuse of not being able to do so, hot tub is hot, sauna is well prepared, clean roomy room with no carpet, shower and toilet pressure is good, with Dove brand shampoo, take ownership of the property with pretty flowers and trees everywhere, convenient location with many restaurants within 10 min walking distance, complimentary breakfast is good, almost had everything (just cannot have beacon/hot eggs as a kitchen is not allowed), front desk and the manager are Very friendly and helpful, felt welcomed, definitely will stay again. Con: the sheet for the bed could be upgraded to be less like a sand paper, no body lotion which is a minor problem

We enjoyed our stay so much. Our room was beautiful and we were greeted by Sagar who made us a wine and cheese board. Breakfast was delicious and delivered to our room. We had a beautiful walk out patio with our own private jacuzzi. A perfect place to enjoy a romantic getaway.

Me and my wife were pleasantly surprised. The room was amazing with tons of character and the patio had a jacuzzi tub that was perfect. Throw in complimentary wine and cheese and an amazing breakfast carted into our room to make our stay extra special.

My wife and I stayed at the property for our 10 year anniversary and were greeted by a very friendly and helpful staff. Sauger, the Inn's manager, was really there to help us make this a very special weekend. The room was very clean and warm, thanks to the fireplace. The double headed shower was a nice perk along with private jacuzzi on the patio. Breakfast was simple but yummy. Would definitely revisit. Thanks, Will & Naomi

After reading some of the reviews, I was a little worried about the breakfast, hot water, happy hour food, and parking. But after staying there, I think those complaints are way off. We stayed there two nights, and breakfast both mornings was great. The menu is posted the night before, so people can choose to walk 2 minutes into town and buy breakfast if food like a tomato and cheese egg scramble and pancakes are unacceptable. Some people just like to complain. Our room was perfect - well maintained and very relaxing. The fireplace and 2-person shower (we didn't have any hot water issues!) made it extra special. The location can't be beat! We went to dinner at the Shadowbrook restaurant and called for one of their vintage taxis, so we never needed to move our car from the hotel parking lot. I highly recommend walking along the beach from New Brighton Beach to Rio Del Mar and getting a pizza from Venus Pie Trap. A weekend of great memories!

I had an incredible stay at the Inn at Depot Hill. The location is perfect—just one block from the ocean and the heart of downtown Capitola, but tucked away enough to feel peaceful and quiet. The staff was outstanding: genuinely kind, friendly, and helpful. They went out of their way to accommodate my celiac needs, ensuring I had safe and delicious breakfasts each morning. Each room is uniquely designed and beautifully maintained, and the entire property is so well cared for. Every evening, there were wine, cheese, and fresh cookies available in the lobby, and breakfast was delivered straight to our room at the time of our choosing. Could not recommend this place more—an absolute gem in Capitola.

The hotel has been recently renovated - every thing works and looks new. Our Room 8 was huge with a view of the beach and a huge bathroom with a jacuzzi and shower- perfect for soaking after hiking. We enjoyed the afternoon tea/wine/snacks and the lounge chairs on the common balcony on 2F.

Absolutely amazing Inn, staff very friendly and helpful. Breathtaking views, fireplace in the room, wow factor bathroom with jacuzzi tub for two as well oversized shower. Love the outdoor porch.

We had stayed here before several years ago and really enjoyed the location near the pier and beach. First rate on most everything. The staff was excellent and very helpful. Only thing our room lacked was a working jacuzzi tub. We will come back.

The West Cliff fan is an amazing place to stay. The bed was very comfortable and the jetted bathtubs are fabulous! Big sash windows allow the fresh ocean breeze into the room. There are comfy chairs on the front deck and upstairs patio looking to the view across the street of the beach & boardwalk. Breakfast was amazing and so are the cookies. The staff was welcoming and very friendly. The room fabulous, great view, comfortable bed, large bathroom, super clean. The afternoon wine hour a pleasant surprise, breakfast delicious and cookies a nice bonus. Parking was convenient and the location perfect with view of the ocean.

I booked the room for a much lower price than other hotels and was expecting it to be kind of a dive. It was a great surprise that it was clean, comfy, friendly, and even had a jacuzzi and parking. It is a nice 15 minute walk to the boardwalk.

They have a one touch espresso/mocha/late machine. An awesome pool jacuzzi, and the staff is super friendly and respectful. One of the best hotels in Santa Cruz. Newly built. 5/5

The staff was extremely helpful, especially the property manager, Celeste. We loved having access to the jacuzzi at the end of each day. I was surprised with the few vegan and gluten free options the simple continental breakfast had.

The front desk staff was very welcoming. The hotel guests like older couples were welcoming compared to other hotels I’ve been to (Monterey, San Francisco, etc.). My girlfriend and I enjoyed laying in the jacuzzi and having a decent amount of breakfast options (would recommend adding breakfast sausages, sliced ham, or bacon). It’s a nice downhill walk to the pier and boardwalk. We’d love to stay here again.

The staff was friendly and helpful when needed. The room was clean and modern. The view from balcony was perfect. The breakfast was easy and convenient to run in and grab and go if needed. Perfect walking distance to boardwalk. We will definitely be back.

We love the central location of this hotel that allows you to easily walk to the beach, boardwalk and restaurants. It is great to be able to grab a quick complimentary breakfast each morning. The staff are usually very friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean and it appears that the rooms with an ocean view have been remodeled. Also, the rooms are usually more affordable than the other hotels close to the beach and boardwalk.

Although it’s a very large property, we loved the personal atmosphere and ultra relaxing, comfortable and lovely rooms and facilities. We were surprised that our room offered a full, compact kitchen with kitchen amenities. It was a wonderful touch that really helped us feel at home! The beds were incredibly comfortable and the room layout and lighting was so lovely. We were surprised by how nice everything was and would love to stay here again! Also, the jacuzzi is really hot which is great!

Seascape is my new favorite! I had a super relaxing weekend and it was exactly what my body was craving. No wild spring break! I stayed in an ocean view room in the main building, which had super easy access to the restaurant and beach. The restaurant menu was large but lacked one of my favorites. I love a fresh pressed green juice in the morning, but the restaurant did not offer this. Luckily, I found Clean Juice, which is a short drive away. The lobby staff blew me away. They were friendly and attentive. They would stop mid conversation and acknowledge me even when walking through the lobby a million times. I felt so special!

Before you book this hotel, ask yourself what will you be doing in Santa Cruz. The room was very clean. The shower head was high enough for my 6'4" husband, and the water pressure was decent. The bed was a bit on the firm side, but not so hard that we were uncomfortable. The sink area was separate from the toilet and shower which is always nice However, there wasn't a towel rod by the sink, so the hand towel we were using had to be just laid on the counter. The floor of the bathtub wasn't slippery, but it also wasn't textured. There wasn't a grab bar in the tub/shower area, so I was very careful not to slip. The floor did get more slippery as soap and shampoo got on it. If you are planning a trip here to attend an event or explore the area, this is a great place to sleep, shower, and eat breakfast. If you're looking for a romantic getaway, though, this isn't the place at all. Some of the reviews mentioned problems with the parking lot being full, but we were there Wednesday-Saturday, and the hotel didn't appear to be full. Half of the rooms face the parking lot, and half of them face a strip of garden area and the back side of the next door hotel. There is no view of anything. Our room was closer to the street, and during the day the traffic noise was very loud At night it was quiet, but we weren't there in the middle of the summer It might be different then. The breakfasrt had the usual hot and cold choices. We would probably stay here again.

Alright, for a MOTEL, this is pretty good. I say this because we had no idea we booked a motel, so we tried to not to let our mistake affect our overall expectations of this place. We were safe, a roof was over our heads, the breakfast was good, and the walking distance wasn’t far from parking lot to room door. However, it was very loud in the mornings when staff or guests would walk by our front door, which was on the first floor and close to the gym. Also, we could hear the guests walking in the room above us but I’m assuming that’s normal for motels, or maybe these guests stomp more than the average Joe? Wasn’t a fan of the shower head, either, as it sprayed everywhere and I had just gotten a tattoo on my ankle and would’ve preferred a less messy spray to not agitate it. On the plus side, when I needed things, the staff provided them promptly and were friendly/helpful. The breakfast was delicious and overall it was a decent stay. Like I said, for a motel, this is a good choice.

Place was great. We stayed in king suite for a week. Jetted tub was awesome. Room was clean. Bed was comfy. No one shari g walls with us made it quiet, which I appreciated. Breakfast was pretty good. Only gripe was AC unit was loud and shower head leaked.

A very nicely kept hotel in a convenient location at a very affordable price. Bed was super comfortable and room quiet. No swimming pool but not needed. Breakfast was excellent and staff super friendly.

Our trip was wonderful! We loved the beachfront location—so convenient and close to everything. The kids had an amazing time in the pool and jacuzzi and were in the water almost every day, rain or shine. The food was delicious, and the staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. This hotel was booked based on other people’s reviews, and it didn’t disappoint, the hotel on the outside looks like any other hotel, but the rooms are very spacious with good decoration, and my view from the balcony had a view right onto the beach. The greeting was amazing. I spoke to a lady called Ann, she was extremely helpful and informative about the local area. Car parking is pretty easy. You can pull to the drop up zone outside the hotel, then when you’ve got your luggage in the hotel, you drive across the street and park in the open space Carr park of which your room key will let you access. This hotel was in an amazing location right next to the beach, the pier and the boardwalk, which is essentially a fun fair on the seaside. You could have a 30 minute walk to get to a local lighthouse, which is well worth the trip. If you’re a coffee connoisseur, the coffee shop in the hotel is fantastic or locally your options would be trying coffee, which will be near the lighthouse next to the hotel. They also do very good coffee. The hotel restaurant also serves amazing food. I opted for the steak, which was very enjoyable, and the service was second to none. If you are a light sleeper, while there was no noise from the hotel, you could hear the waves crashing on the beach - which from my point of view helped with me getting to sleep.

I had my baby shower hosted at the Dream Inn this August. The planning process with Katie and Briana was absolutely amazing from start to finish. They made everything so easy and stress-free, were always so kind, and truly took the time to answer every single one of my emails and questions in detail. I felt so supported through the entire process and knew my event was in great hands. We hosted our baby shower in the Surf View Room, and the view was nothing short of breathtaking—floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the ocean created the most beautiful backdrop. All of our guests were blown away by the venue and could not stop talking about the stunning scenery. We chose to have a brunch, and the food was absolutely delicious—every guest commented on how much they enjoyed it, from the fresh pastries to the savory dishes. It was everything I had hoped for and more. The day-of staff was equally incredible—so attentive, friendly, and helpful with every detail. I never had to worry about a thing, and they made sure the whole event ran seamlessly. It truly was the baby shower of my dreams, and I am so grateful to everyone at The Dream Inn for making it so special. I can’t recommend them enough for any event!

Amazing experience. The property was perfect for our family. Very well appointed on the beach. The pool setting was so unique and welcoming. The tacos/ ceviche tostada were perfect and so delicious. The guest room was so welcoming and comfortable. We experienced all dining from the Jack O’Neil reataurant, to the coffee cart in the front lobby and room service. All food and beverage was amazing!!!! Best Ceasar dressing ever!!! The team were all over the top friendly, courteous, and really made us feel welcome. We can not wait to come back. This place is beautiful. It has the river in the front and the boardwalk from the back. Our room was tiny but super clean with a fireplace and private balcony. The location is excellent! Only a few short blocks from the major shopping and restaurant district of Santa Cruz, and really close to other attractions like the Boardwalk. I stay in a LOT of hotels and amenities are everything to me. It's the little things that create comfort and value. There was a "help yourself" expresso machine that made Americanos, Lattes, Cappuccinos, etc, free delicious chocolate chip cookies, and a community fridge with every kind of creamer, and two firepits, all accessible any time of day or night in the courtyard! We also took a "doggy bag" from dinner and stored it in the fridge until we left. The room had a fireplace, ceiling fan, modern radiator, air conditioner, beautiful shower, fluffy towels, nice soaps and every streaming choice you could want on the TV, full length mirror, (which I find very important), and wonderful bedding. It was spotlessly clean as well.

The gentleman that checked me in Calvin was very helpful and pleasant. It was an easy walk to the Catalyst for a show, and was an easy walk to the pier. After staying in a 4 star beach front overpriced place, we wanted a spot away from the beach chaos. This is a clean, comfortable, safe and quaint spot, only 5 minutes from the beach. The staff were all so friendly and accommodating. Bar was fun & have a fab happy hour. Restaurant was packed with locals & food & service was perfect. Not overly fancy or cheap, it was all just great! We will absolutely be staying here again.

We had a very nice two-night stay here with our girls - our room was very clean, comfortable, and on the “far side” of the property so very quiet as well! the location was great for us as we wanted to do the Boardwalk and hang out in Santa Cruz yet also be away from the activity of downtown at the end of the day. We had dinner at the restaurant our first night and it was great. We swam in the pool both evenings after dinner despite the chilly air; the kids loved it and enjoyed a nice hot shower after as well :) This was a wonderful affordable option for us and we will be coming back the next time we visit SC. Also appreciated the morning coffee! All of the staff was super friendly and helpful; thank you.

This review is long overdue. We booked rooms for my son’s wedding in July, 2022. We could not have been happier!! The entire staff is just amazing, helpful and friendly. They couldn’t have done anymore to make the weekend better. They made it stress free and enjoyable. The rooms were perfect and the setting can’t be beat. We were able to gather in the outdoor space the evening before the wedding. The restaurant and bar was convenient for everyone. We did a farewell breakfast the next day in their event space that was catered by the Inn. The food was delicious and service was great. I highly recommend the Inn at Pasatiempo.

Lovely place with convenient location to Santa Cruz & Capitola. Rooms are nicely renovated with high ceilings, exposed beams, comfortable bed, and a clean and modern bathroom. Super friendly staff, plus coffee and delicious sweet treats in the lobby in the morning. Pool was very clean and relaxing when there were no kids.

Incredibly welcoming and helpful manager/owner, great well-maintained immaculate room with refrigerator and microwave. Spacious shower. Quiet. Easy parking right in front of our room. Nice BBQ area. Patio with table and chairs right outside the room. Ice machine is easy to access.

The room was sparsely appointed but very spacious, clean and very comfortable. Although there were no bedside lights, they were graciously provided when my husband inquired about them. There was a large separate kitchen where one may cook a full meal after borrowing cooking and eating supplies from the front desk (for a $5.00 fee), and there was a large refrigerator. Safeway and Grocery Outlet were nearby as well as Walgreens to purchase food and supplies. The facilities were clean and very quiet, with free parking right outside the door. Great Mexican Food within walking distance. Public transportation is convenient to get around. We will definitely stay again when we are in the Santa Cruz Area.

As a solo female traveler I felt safe and comfortable. I slept well. The person at check in was very friendly. The cleaning person (wish I caught her name!) was very friendly. The place is very spacious, the kitchen stove worked really well. Lots of storage area-plenty of room for my surfboards inside. The geraniums in front of the adorable balcony are a nice touch. Certainly past its heyday, but it was exactly as described and pictured - and the fact that it was such a highly-reviewed and yet economical facility is precisely why I booked it. Not traveling with family, and not spending much time in the room - so perfect to come back to after a day hiking and at the beach. The TV has standard channel offerings plus multiple HBO, etc channels - but mine is niche viewing, and so I connected the TV to my laptop via my ever-present HDMI cable and am enjoying exactly what I want to watch via my own Netflix, Prime, and other subscription channels. The room is spacious, the bathroom is a long accompanying chamber separated from the bedroom by a sliding door. Inside the main sink area of the bathroom is a mini-fridge, microwave, coffeemaker and generous assortment of coffee packs - NO Decaf, which I consider to be a PLUS! No creamers or sugar, but that's fine as I prefer my coffee black. Broadband hangs a bit from time to time, and guests are advised to not run the air conditioner and the space heater at the same time (!) as "otherwise you lose your room power" - but I can't conceive of an occasion during which I WOULD want to run both simultaneously. The bed is comfy, the rooms themselves are well soundproofed from one another, but the tight parking area which wraps inside the horseshoe layout of the main facility and around the inner block of rooms means that you WILL hear vehicle noise - and especially from inconsiderate guests...

Being able to enjoy a cup of fresh (and good!) coffee while enjoying the Boardwalk and water views from our room balcony, priceless. We were able to enjoy the last of the Christmas holiday, and the lights on the Boardwalk at night were lovely. Now, this is not a fancy 5 star hotel. You will hear your neighbors and sounds of the street. But it is not loud or obnoxious. The beds, towels, and bathrooms are super clean. The rooms are very comfortable. My family and I really enjoy this spot. Whenever we plan to visit Santa Cruz, this will always be our preferred hotel.

Walking distance to the boardwalk!! Private parking lot! It’s gated!! There’s an elevator which makes everything much easier! Our balcony was great but sad we didn’t get a better view. Continental breakfast was actually decent, from cereal, waffle machines to make your own ( lots of options for toppings) , milk, coffee, orange juice, fresh coffee 24/7, fresh fruits (oranges, apples and bananas) etc, actually better than other places we’ve stayed at! It was mostly family friendly, everyone was super quiet and respectful as far as noise went.

The location is so convenient. Not only are you next to the boardwalk but next door is a liquor store with ramen noodles. Honestly, those noodles came in handy in the middle of the night when I was starving. Not only that, but your room comes with a microwave and mini fridge! This place gets the three Cs. Comfy, convenient and clean! Oh definitely check out the free breakfast in the morning. You can get yourself waffles, milk alternatives for your coffee, and fresh fruit. Cereal too. The best part is it is affordable without sacrificing cleanliness. When I walked in my room, it smelled freshly cleaned. The staff have awesome dinner suggestions too.

Very comfortable, great location. This is a new hotel and everything is modern. The internet is reliable, the TVs are nice, the rooms are comfortable to just stay in. The breakfast is nice. There is free coffee in the lobby but check seriously out the coffee shops that are well withing walkable distance. They are top notch.

This was an amazing stay, I would love to come back here and would definitely recommend this stay. The rooms were very spacious and clean, the bathrooms were spacious as well with great lighting and a tub which is nice. The balcony was very enjoyable at night and the layout was just great. This was a comfortable cozy stay and I loved it. The staff was nice as well :)

I booked this lodge to be off the beaten path and quiet and it was cool. There is a store and bar on property (bar on weekends only). The room was clean and comfortable. It had a little balcony that was nice to sit and relax on. The hotel was only a 15 minute drive into Santa Cruz. The staff was friendly and helpful.

Surrounded by trees- Very cute pet friendly room with a balcony and coffee machine. Nice to have a pet area outside. 10 minutes or so to Henry Cowell Redwood State Park- which is also dog friendly. Had a breakfast burrito from the restaurant below- it was so good! Staff were friendly and very helpful!

Perfect stay, we arrived a little later in the evening and the restaurant/bar at the lodge had live music. The room has a balcony, the vibe is just right - fresh air surrounded by tall redwoods. My only complaint was the coffee machine in the room makes more coffee than the provided cups can handle - overflow!

We had a very good stay at this hotel. The town was quiet and charming, making for a peaceful and relaxing visit. The hotel itself was clean, comfortable, and well-maintained, with everything we needed for a pleasant night’s rest. However, one major disappointment was that the front office wasn’t open early, which was inconvenient for travelers like us who needed to check out or get assistance in the morning. Even more frustrating, breakfast wasn’t served until 7:30 AM, but we had to leave by 7:00 AM. Most hotels serve breakfast around 6:00 AM, so this was a real downside for early risers or those on a schedule. Despite that, everything else about the stay was great—friendly staff, comfortable rooms, and a nice atmosphere. If you’re not in a hurry in the morning, this hotel is a solid choice. Otherwise, plan ahead for breakfast elsewhere.

Stayed at Rio Sands for a weekend wedding--what a great find! We had a king room in the Sands Building, 2nd floor, with a lovely balcony and view toward the ocean, 2 short blocks away! Nice room, updated with hardwood floor, beachy decor. Very spacious, and nicely updated bathroom with walk-in shower! Proximity to the beach is wonderful. The included breakfast was okay, would like more fruit besides bananas, but it's enough to get you out the door. Very nice, large and clean breakfast room with fireplace and beachy feel. I would definitely stay here again!

My mattress wasn't even across the entire surface. But our suite was spotless, no sand on the floors which isn't so easy this close to the beach. Very clean suite and roomy. Quiet and very close to the beach. Coffee in the continental breakfast room was good, and the fire and comfy chairs added a nice ambiance. We'll be back

Clean, spacious and comfortable room near Seacliff State Beach in Aptos. Easy walk to beach and restaurants. We stayed in a room with a kitchenette (gas stove, cabinets, fridge, microwave and coffee maker) but just FYI, there were NO pots, pans, plates, bowls or utensils! If guests, especially families, intend to save money by cooking meals, you'll need to bring all the above with you. Also good luck contacting the front desk. Every time one of us went to the lobby (including at check in), there was a sign saying "Will return shortly." We waited about 15 minutes or more each time, before a staff member showed up. I think they're extremely short staffed!!

This is my 3rd time staying at this property and I love it. Steps from the beach and convenient dining options (coffee shop etc) , the pool/hot tub area is really nice, and it is a beautiful little area of Aptos to stay. The rooms are simple - clean and comfortable. The beds are so comfortable with lots of pillows :) The breakfast might need some work but otherwise, awesome place to stay.

Modest but well appointed room. I had been concerned about cleanliness, but it really was clean & sanitized. Bathroom appeared to have been renovated in last decade. Shower had plenty of hot water. Heating/AC unit below window produced enough heat to keep room warm in unusual frost conditions. Small fridge was just right to store snacks & restaurant leftovers. Office staff were friendly and helpful.

A Charming Stay at Monarch Cove Inn My girlfriend and I had the pleasure of staying in the Rose Garden Room at the Monarch Cove Inn, and it was nothing short of magical. The room itself was incredibly clean, spacious, and cozy—with its own kitchen and living space, it truly felt like a home away from home. We immediately felt comfortable and at ease. The property is like something out of a storybook—an old-style house nestled among beautiful gardens, blooming flowers, and towering trees, all with a breathtaking view of the ocean. It’s the kind of place that invites you to slow down and enjoy every little detail. Katrina greeted us when we arrived and gave us a lovely introduction to the property. She was so kind and welcoming, making us feel like old friends rather than guests. We also had the pleasure of meeting the owner, Bob, who was equally warm and friendly. It’s clear that everyone here genuinely cares about making your stay special. Breakfast was just perfect—adorably presented and delicious. It was the perfect start to our mornings, enjoyed with a view that we’ll never forget. We couldn’t have asked for a more peaceful and charming getaway. Monarch Cove Inn is a hidden gem, and we’re already looking forward to coming back.

The building is over 130 years old, passed down through generations as a family retreat until it became the Monarch Cove Inn. However, despite its age, there are upgrades to satisfy today's expectations. Perched high along the cliffs of Capitola overlooking the Pacific Ocean, it stands by itself at the end of the road. Surrounded by luxury homes, it is a short 10 to 15 minute casual walk into Capitola Village. Upon our arrival, the staff is friendly and accommodating. The room was clean, comfortable, and quiet. While the evenings are cool, the electric fireplace warmed up the room for relaxing and cozy comfort. The bed was very comfortable, covered in a four-poster style veil, creating an old-world charm. A continental breakfast of juice, coffee, and pastries was delivered to our door in the morning. The surrounding gardens, with an open deck of chairs and tables overlooking the sea and the peninsula, made for a spectacular and relaxing view. We sat there on the deck watching eagles glide through the sky while sipping prosecco. This was our first visit celebrating our wedding anniversary. Monarch Cove Inn is a hidden gem, unique, delivering an experience of gracious charm you will never forget. We look forward to our return.

My husband and I had a wonderful stay at the Monarch Cove Inn! The room was cozy, clean, and comfortable! We even had our own private patio! The grounds are beautiful (probably even more so when it’s not cloudy and raining!). It is close to downtown Capitola, just a 1/2mile walk or so. They also have such friendly and welcoming staff! Katrina was so sweet and accommodating, it was like staying with family! Also, we have never been served breakfast in our room before! That was so cool. Fresh fruit, coffee, juice, and pastries from a local bakery!! It was delicious. We would recommend this bed and breakfast to anyone looking to get away for a perfect weekend (or longer!)

We immediately were impressed by the property - towering eucalyptus trees wrapped in ivy, monarch butterflies everywhere, large deck with adirondack chairs overlooking the ocean (just bring a bottle of wine & enjoy!!), blooming flowers surround the most quintessential Victorian cottages, bald eagles circling above and clear ocean views. Katrina and her long haired dachshund gave us an incredibly lovely tour of the property (equip with the history of the space + ownership) before showing us to our room. The room was comfortable, adorable and clean and had an ocean view (to our surprise!!). Every morning, the hotel staff brought a platter of breakfast to our room, featuring local pastries, a carafe of coffee, fresh cut fruit and orange juice. Overall, I we felt this place was so magical and are already planning our next trip back!! We also are looking at their wedding offerings 💛

This facility was built in 1895…has enormous character and history…only 6 rooms…in a beautiful residential area…quiet, on a cliff overlooking Monterey bay (no beach access)…rooms are so charming…we had a little patio and a good sized small frig…the coffee maker made terrible coffee…you do get a continental breakfast, but it’s delivered to your room…toasted bagels, pastries from the local bakery, carafe of coffee…juice, fresh cut fruit…real plates & silverware…just raises the bar a bit. Please note that there is no central heat/ac…there are small heaters in the room which made things cozy for us.

This is a great amenity. The hotel is close to the beach, the big ardwalk and the municipal pier - right across the street. Our only issue was breakfast in the AM - we understood that a breakfast was included, but we did not find any breakfast items. Perhaps we missed it somehow. There was no one at the front desk when we checked out at 10am to ask.

5 Stars – Fantastic Stay! I had an amazing experience during my stay at this hotel! From the moment I arrived, everything was top-notch. The rooms were incredibly clean, spacious, and well-appointed — you can tell attention to detail is a priority here. The beds were super comfortable, and everything felt fresh and modern. One of the best parts was the location — there are tons of activities and attractions nearby, whether you're into shopping, dining, or exploring local sights. It made it easy to keep busy and enjoy the area without needing to go far. The staff was friendly and professional, and the overall atmosphere was welcoming and relaxed. I’d absolutely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the area and will definitely be coming back!

The room is comfortable. We did have a little bit of a view of the beach and the ocean from our balcony. The location was great. The hardwood floor was clean under our bare feet. The walk in shower was very cool. 2 shower heads! An adjustable, removable/hand held like we have at home. But a 2nd large head directly above you that covered you in a pleasant shower of water. The bed was pretty comfortable though we had an issue with the pillows. (See below) There was no mention of them on the booking site so we were very pleased to see that there is a refrigerator and a microwave in the room.

Honestly one of the best property’s I’ve stayed at in so so so long. Staff was super nice and helpful all of them always saying hi and in great moods. Let alone the room was amazing. Fantastic view , fantastic water pressure. When we first walked into the room you could smell how clean it was and not the harsh bleach smell of clean just clean clean smell.

I stayed at Hilton Santa Cruz/Scotts Valley on a Friends & Family rate while returning to Oakland from a retreat in Carmel. As a Hilton Honors Gold member, I was upgraded to a spacious King Suite with Balcony, which had a gorgeous view. The room was clean, comfortable, and quiet, making it easy to relax. The hotel’s interior is stylish, the atmosphere warm and welcoming, and the staff provided outstanding service. Amenities were excellent — I enjoyed the breakfast, well-equipped gym, and pool. The property is conveniently located near Santa Cruz, Capitola, and the Shakespeare Festival, offering plenty of activities within a short drive. I found the value to be excellent, especially with the upgrade and food credit. Overall, a wonderful stay in a beautiful location with top-notch service and memorable experiences.

The room was very comfortable. They serviced the room each day…YES! We had a room on the 6th floor facing the trees. Lovely and quiet. I cannot say that the other rooms offer as nice a view. From what I can tell the views are of parking lots. The pool and hot tub were fun at night. It was helpful that there were not many people at the hotel during our stay. There was good parking but you pay a lot for it. I am really not sure why they charge for parking. There is not anything nearby that warrants paying for parking. It is not like they protect your car. There are signs saying you park at your own risk…and that they will tow if you do not pay. The location was convenient for adventuring in the Santa Cruz to Monterey areas. The restaurant was good but more expensive. Also, if you want coke instead of Pepsi just buy it from their market. Also, if you are a Diamond member with 2 people staying make sure they give you the $15 food credit for both people. They need to do this manually.

This was a first class hotel with lovely rooms, friendly staff and trimmings including reasonably priced bar and restaurant and a free to use outside pool and spar. Breakfast was served with freshly squeezed orange juice and spotless tableware. We ate dinner in the restaurant on our first evening and the waitress was cheerful and efficient.

very nice area and beautiful decor inside and out. the hotel is nestled behind trees and feels very private. the lobby is very luxurious and clean. the room was pretty large and the bed and pillows were pretty comfortable. we got upgraded to a balcony suite and it overlooked the back parking lot but it was nice to step out onto it in the mornings. everything was clean and tidy. we also got the breakfast package and the food was pretty good and always hot. it was also nice to walk around the property and look at all the trees. overall a wonderful stay.

Bring your own shampoo and conditioner (theirs was just awful quality) Poor water flow in shower due to outdated and old shower head Breakfast was tasteless. The only good thing about the breakfast was the espresso option on the coffee maker. I will stay here again, if I'm ever in Santa Cruz, given their better prices, and all the room amenities, but I will bring my own shampoo and conditioner next time.

The property has many plants and flowers, so it's quite pleasant and we'd definitely stay again. It is set away from the street and is therefore quiet and peaceful. The second floor room was comfortable, clean, had a mini-fridge, microwave, bathtub. All second floor rooms have a balcony. Be aware that there is no elevator. Unfortunately, there is only a sliding glass door leading to the balcony, and no screen; this means the only way to get fresh air is to open the glass door and there is no way to prevent insects from entering. The property is definitely more than a 10-minute walk from the beach. The rate was about $300, so the room safe fee seriously feels like nickel-and-diming. Also, I realize they have grab-and-go breakfasts because of Covid, but they should offer something hot such as instant oatmeal. The staff was very polite and friendly. The highly recommended and popular-with-locals Gayle's Bakery & Rosticceria is within walking distance. You can get pastries, lunch & dinner dishes such as poached salmon, spaghetti, chicken salad sandwiches, soup, salad, etc.

Clean rooms. Comfortable bed. Small balcony with broken chair. Quiet location away from the crowded Capitola beach area however our busy neighbors upstairs sadly stayed 2 nights. Our trip was spontaneous which means we were happy to find a vacancy during Watsonville car race weekend. Breakfast was bagged muffins and Peets coffee with flavored creamer. Little Tampico Mexican restaurant is 2 minutes away and offered indoor dining and food arrived quick to our table. Overall, we would stay again.

We choose to stay at Quality Inn & Suites in Capitola because of the value pricing and high reviews. We were, however, worried about traveling during the pandemic. We were put at ease the moment we arrived. Mr. Ank Patel, the hotel manager, made sure our room was properly sanitized and clean. He was very accommodating to my requests and the housekeeping and hotel staff were very friendly. We had a room with two queen beds and a balcony. The room was spacious for the three of us and we liked that it had a microwave and refrigerator. Even thought the hotel is located near the freeway, it was very quiet at night. Beds were very comfortable too! We brought our bikes and had fun riding them to Capitola village, which is very close. We will definitely come back again next year!

Exactly how we pictured the stay , rustic cosy cabin updated just enough like the shower cubicle all functioning applicances good pans etc but love the vintage details (kitchen tiles) and WOW a whistling kettle (thank you from us Brits), Cabin 3 was actually perfectly tucked out the way by the river between amazing redwoods. The site is perfect for walks to Henry Cowell hikes although we didn't brave crossing the river to it; just listened to the water whilst wrapped in my blanket drinking tea on the deck. One evening we did the HC redwood loop the next day we headed all the way through to the top of the hills what amazing views and secenery on sandy trails and lovely birds. Everything you need in the cabin to feel like home and a very comfy bed and perfect stop on our californian tour to see even more redwoods and cabin in the redwoods was just amazing. Thanks to Lisa for a welcoming stay.

Beautiful location, right in the middle of the California Redwoods. Clean, cute, comfortable cabins with porches to have your coffee on and decks to sit on and watch the river. The cabins and property are immaculately kept up. You can build a fire in the fire pit and play ping pong, badminton or choose a game from the game cabinet. Felton is a gorgeous little town with great places to eat, and there are plenty of eateries and a Safeway a short distance from Fern River Resort. Santa Cruz is only about 20 minutes away. Fern River Resort is the perfect place for a getaway to the Redwoods and the Northern California coast, the staff is wonderful and helpful, and we are already planning our next visit! Thank you, Fern River Resort, for the amazing time.

If you are a person who loves 5-star luxury hotels with modern amenities, this ain’t it. However, if you love being surrounded by nature and a clean and functional living space for sleeping and eating between your nature fun, this is THE place. We only stayed a night while passing through the area in this cozy old school cabin with a river in the backyard. We picked up some grocery provisions and had a great time! In this crazy and chaotic world, it was a rare chance to breathe deeply and listen to the river, birds, and cabin neighbors enjoying family and friends. Musty old cabin some reviewers say? Open the windows, let the sun in and enjoy the cross breeze - old cabins like to breathe, too.

I like FRR because it is close to nature, such as the passing river and the high trees surrounding the cabins. You have utmost privacy here as you live in your own cabin. Even with those cabins that connected, i.e. 11A/11B, 5/6, and 9/10, apparently FRR has made good effort to ensure that guests can enjoy the most privacy possible, by planting thick trees between neighboring decks. What makes FRR so unique is not only its location and generally relaxing atmosphere, but also the friendly and hardworking staff. I have come back to FRR to stay at several different cabins in last few weeks. Every time I walked into my cabin, it had been thoroughly cleaned and neatly prepared for guests to move in. It feels like a “home away from home”. Not to mention the quiet time you could spend here, listening the sound of river and simply relaxing with yourself. I would rate this place 5 if I were asked to rate it out of 1-5 scores

The Drift Inn is a clean, basic, and comfortable hotel. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful and Ankit, the manager, goes out of his way to help guests with everything they need. I was traveling through Santa Cruz and struggling with some stressful issues and Ankit made it possible for me to be able to rest here with everything I needed. The hotel is on a busy road but there is no noise at night. It is located right across from the boardwalk and in a very convenient location. Even though it’s not the best area in town, Ankit and his sister (co-manager) work very hard to make the premises very safe. I felt totally relaxed and secure the whole time I was there. I would definitely recommend this hotel if you are staying in Santa Cruz or even if you are just driving through and need a safe, quiet place to rest overnight.

I liked that it was centrally located, blocks from the beach, reasonably quiet, did not have disruptions from housekeeping, had a large big screen T.V., had a large, beautifully tiled shower, with a good shower head, had a nice little fridge/freezer and coffee maker, with complimentary coffee, had darkened curtains so that I could catch up on sleep during the day. And the management was very professional, helpful and nice. I decided to stay a second day and night.

Location is perfect. 5 minute walk from the boardwalk And the catalyst/downtown, with a sweet view of the river from the front. Room was neat and clean with lots of space and fully accomodated with the essentials. Service was super helpful and friendly, will return.

The staff was super friendly and lended us a hair dryer upon request. While using the hair dryer the electric circuit breaker was tripped. The staff was understanding and no extra charges were applied. The staff recommended several options for dinner - we loved the Mexican restaurant they recommended.

If you're looking for a great deal on nice, clean, comfortable room next to the Boardwalk, this is the place! The bed was comfortable, the bathroom adequate. Fridge, microwave, blow dryer, flat screen, free wi-fi, free parking and a friendly, helpful staff. Our preference is always upstairs and there are a bunch due to the steep property but it beats listening to people stomp around above you. If you're a squeamish driver the steep and smallish parking lot might be a bit intimidating but I was fine with it. We will definitely stay there again!

Stayed here for one night while we visited Santa Cruz. The location cannot be beat! It's literally steps to the boardwalk/ beach. Reception was very friendly. Lovely little room at the top with a beach view! Continental breakfast was simple and just fine. Bed was comfy and we slept great. Would stay here again!

Staff was amazing, great customer service. Location was the best! Right off the beach, close to restaurants, coffee shops, etc. We got a room on the bottom floor, and it had such a beautiful view. Opened up the window curtains and we can see the beach and beautiful palm trees!

This place is about half block from the beach, so location and parking are a plus, the bed is the best thing in this hotel it was comfortable and clean, breakfast is very poor, I do not even consider that a breakfast, you can go next door to a small cafe that opens early. I was there for a seminar so it was just a place to sleep. The man in reception desk was very friendly. For the price it was good

My room was perfect, except the fridge leaked a bit. The reception was very friendly and accommodating. I grew up in Santa Cruz, but haven't lived there since the 90s. My mom is in SC, in a nursing home,.so I have been staying in a few hotels on my trips to see her. This hotel was the best so far, clean, quiet, affordable and comfortable. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Location is amazing! You can watch the lights on the Boardwalk at night, and watch the rides turn on in the morning. The hotel is comfortable and clean, which is what counts. If you need 5 star accommodation, this place isn't for you. If you want a clean place to set up camp so you can relax and enjoy Santa Cruz, this is it; a family-friendly place that allows pets! The price was reasonable for the room, the room was nice and big. Beds were comfortable. They have parking available, and there are spots in the back when the front lot gets full. All in all, a really solid place to stay when visiting Santa Cruz. This was our second time staying here! Will not be the last.

The location of the motel is right across the street from the beach and the Santa Cruz beach boardwalk, theme park, and arcade. The property also has a balcony that's open from 9am to 10pm. It was very quiet and the staff was helpful and friendly. Rooms are small, we had booked the triple room it has 2 full beds and a TV, with fridge and microwave, then the extra room had a bed and a door to close it off. The bathroom was decent and has a shower and soap dispensers. Me and my family enjoyed our stay and would recommend for a 2-3 day family stay.

The stay was exactly as expected. Clean and simple room with great water pressure for beach clean up. Shampoo provided could be improved but we travel with additional products so it was a non issue. Surrounding area felt safe but the location so close to the beach/boardwalk did attract a lot of foot traffic and possible opportunity for vandalism to tourists. We personally had lovely interactions with locals, beach dwellers, and long time surf culture enthusiasts. The staff was efficient, competent, and respectful. I really enjoyed the beautiful murals on the aqua breeze outer walls. A quirky little motel that we will be returning to in future visits.

We drive from halfway up BC Canada down to San Diego and back up again. We stayed at some 4 star hotels and other Fairfields. This was the best all around hotel for comfort, service, cleanliness, convenient location, ease of finding it, free parking, free breakfast selection and taste. There's 24hr guest laundry access (my only complaint is that they need to have the washing machine serviced to clean it as it has a musty smell). The beds were incredibly comfortable. It's within walking distance to the Natural Bridges Beach, which has an incredible view the sunset. The boardwalk is a short drive (10 min) and has a kid's paradise of rides, arcades, beach and food.

Not sure why there are any bad reviews. Dont trust them lol ... place is awesome. Decorated for Halloween and smelled like fall upon arrival. Front desk staff was very sweet and prompt. Room smelled good, was clean, and the bathroom was IMMACULATE. Continental breakfast was the perfect hangover cure. FRESH waffles,eggs, breakfast sandos, cereal, muffins, juices, coffee, only thing missing was a mimosa ! Parking was FREE no hidden fees ANYWHERE like most hotels in the area. Cheap Uber ride to twin for dinner and drinks, can't beat it.

We stayed here for the weekend and it was perfect for our needs. The room was comfortable and clean. It was right next to a school, so I'm not sure how congested it gets during school hours since school was not in session when we stayed. It was quiet because it was just off the main street and away from all of the other busy parts of the town. It was close enough to delicious restaurants, dessert places and coffeehouses. We enjoyed going down to the Natural Bridges park and tide pools. I especially appreciated the plentiful free self-parking. My friend enjoyed the 24 hour gym and the spa was occupied most of the time so people enjoyed it even though it was outside. It was too cold for us to try. The continental breakfast was fine. The hotel fulfilled our needs (2 adults, 1 elementary aged child). We would recommend this place to our friends.

Our stay at the Ocean Echo Inn was wonderful! It was well kept and quiet, the staff was friendly and helpful and it felt very cozy! Our boys, ages 11 and 5, loved it and didn’t want to leave. The Ocean Echo is a short walk to Sunny Cove Beach- a beautiful little beach. The continental breakfast set up was small but cute and had all the necessary items which was super convenient. They have a pin pong table on the deck outside which was fun! The staff directed me to a chest filled with beach toys for my boys to use on our day at the beach as well as beach towels. There is a table on the back deck where we enjoyed breakfast on our first morning. The Ocean Echo Inn and Cottages was lovely, we’ll be back!

The Ocean Echo Inn & Beach Cottages are a hidden gem in Santa Cruz. Just a short walk (2-minutes) from the beach, this hotel offers a quiet, peaceful setting away from the street traffic and with a beautiful view of Sunny Cove Beach and Monterey Bay. The hospitality of the staff exceeded expectations. They were welcoming, accommodating, helpful, friendly, and an absolute pleasure to be around. The room and communal areas of the property were clean and well maintained. The ownership and staff clearly take pride in their work and understand the importance of customer service and customer relations. I look forward to the opportunity to return to the Ocean Echo in the future.

The check in was super hospitable and thorough. I felt as if I was being taken care of as if I were family. The room was cozy, We had a room that overlooked the beach. Breakfast was the cutest nook with your essentials (fruit, coffee, pastries, yogurt, bagels) Our room was modern and spacious. Enough to play board games and relax. I kept the screen doors open to listen to the waves crashing at night. This inn exceeded our expectations and was cozy, comfortable and clean. Loved every moment there and would recommend to anyone who stays in the Santa Cruz area

We had a beautiful experience staying in the Blue Whale room! It was very clean and spacious with an amazing view from our room of the beach. The weather was perfect, we opened up our windows and let the cool fresh air breeze right into our room. The ladies at the front desk were very nice and helped us check in quickly, they helped us feel very comfortable. I look forward to future trips out there. Thank you!!

The owner's manager's Are really nice people. They have been very accommodating the facilities. Our clean well maintained. And it's a very safe place I drive for lyft, so my car is my business and I feel very safe parking, my car overnight. The location is perfect, as it is right near the freeway entrance. Also, conveniently located near several restaurants. The hotel has an icemaker which is extremely convenient as I carry a large stanley cup with water and I can always fill up my cup with ice which is a great convenience. It is by go to place whenever in santa cruz

An excellent pool and a location, this immaculately clean and welcoming Motel met my expectations. It had spacious beds, a microwave and a fridge in a very good condition, as well as a perfect hot shower and a bath. Staff members were kind and courteous and other guests quiet and respectful. Also, the parking was right next to our room, which was quite convenient.

If you are traveling it was right off the freeway but in a quiet little nook that was residential on the side of it so it was quiet. Parking space was near room. The clerks were nice. The bed was comfy, nice size room, hot water, I took a nice hot bath. Clean, had a little table and chairs, microwave, mini fridge, coffee&coffee maker, large screen tv, heater. A Dennys Rest. nearby and shops. The famous Santa Cruz Beach & Boardwalk and Pier and downtown main St, is within 2 miles. And redwood forest.

Very clean, basic room with good lighting, coffee, fridge, shower, bathtub, etc. Check in and service were excellent. Not fancy, but very clean and hospitable. Exceptional deal. Would recommend.

The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, the staff were friendly. There was ample parking. It's right off a busy street so I wouldn't see it as a romantic location, but we were pleasantly surprised at how clean and comfortable it was.

You’re right by the Boardwalk and can hear all the fun going on. The motel is older, but the rooms have been nicely redone and were super clean. The bed and pillows were really comfy, and the room came with a fridge, microwave, coffee maker, hair dryer, and even shampoo, conditioner, soap, and lotion. The towels were big and fluffy, and the water pressure in the shower was amazing—such a nice surprise! The front desk staff was super friendly and offered us extra towels, blankets, and pillows. Only downside was the parking—it’s pretty tight and limited. They do have some extra spots in the back, but we ended up parking on the street, which wasn’t bad since the meters are free overnight (8pm–8am). Overall, a comfy stay in the perfect spot!

If you're here for the beach and boardwalk, you can't beat this location. 5 min walk to the beach. We were granted early check in which I appreciated very much. We were greeted by a lovely lady at the front desk who upgraded us to a queen suite. The room was clean, spacious and quiet. The pool is small but my kids enjoyed a nice dip after a trip to the beach. Breakfast is complimentary and had numerous options. We enjoyed our quick stay very much.

This place is wonderful. My family was on a road trip for spring break and this was a perfect stop. The proximity to the boardwalk is even closer than i realized when i booked it, but still it was quiet and felt safe. I slept very, very well. Room was clean and cute. The staff were very kind and really patient with me. I'm hard of hearing and have to ask people to repeat themselves a lot which is awkward but they didn't seem to mind. I made a mistake with my booking and they graciously helped me fix it. The breakfast was fantastic! I was very grateful for coffee and so many options. The waffle maker was a hit with my kids We loved Santa Cruz and will be back to stay here!

Dropping off my son to UC SANTA CRUZ, we decided to crash one night here. I used at $100 gift card & credit card both . Hotels.com doesn’t let you add your one key points too , bummer. Check in was ok waiting like 2 minutes for someone to come to the desk. The lobby is teeny tiny, probably gets claustrophobic during free breakfast 7 am to 10 am. The stay is ok it has the bare necessities you need , walkable to boardwalk, free parking , free WiFi , fridge & microwave etc. The TV channels were horrible nothing to watch except old movies , food network or Sportscenter. Neighbors are Super 8, Brand new courtyard by Marriott across the street. We felt safe here. Parking has plenty of LED lights and every door to rooms has bright lights also. There is garbage cans everywhere. It can get kinda loud people coming in and out at wee hours of the night, understandable due to the tourists. Two place next door and 7-11 liquor stores nearby. Downtown SC is 1-2 miles away only! No real issues here to really complain about - oh yeah the faucet sink is outside the bathroom shower . The toilet flush is weird it flushes opposite and the hot cold turns for the faucet is reversed . Stayed in room #404 upstairs next to last from the corner. Room wasn’t that cold or hot perfect. The shutters on the window blocked the light about 90% I’d say. They have a do not disturb sign if you wish to use it. Hope this honest review helps! I might stay here again or stay someplace else similar. Paid like $230.

I am a resident of Santa Cruz and have had the pleasure of staying at the Comfort Inn by the boardwalk as we wait on our rental to be ready in a few weeks. I normally do not write reviews, but this place really deserves one. I am a strong believer in individuals that caretake and run motels/hotels being the reflection of the place itself. We have had nothing but the up most kindness and respect given from the manager here. He is always, and I mean ALWAYS available with a smile and fast service. He ensures the property is kept in great condition along with the rooms and exterior. The house keeping staff is friendly and does a phenomenal job cleaning every day. Weekends get busy here and the parking lot is small, but this manager will personally come out and direct you into a spot to ensure you fit. Not only that but he has been known to call us in our room at night and remind us to lock our car as theft is inevitable in life. These little touches are really rare and hard to find these days. The price is right, the beds are comfy, the rooms are super clean, the continental breakfast is way more than you would normally see around. We have stayed at expensive fancy SC hotels and this is hands down our cozy favorite place to visit. Please consider on your next trip here. Enjoy!! All the best, Stacy

This was one of the best hotel stays Ive had in Santa Cruz. When we arrived, the manager Jay greeted us in parking lot. He remembered us from a previous stay, had our room ready and was very helpful getting us checked in quickly. The rooms are spacious, recently updated, clean, comfortable beds, fast wifi, fridge and microwave, air conditioning, easy access for loading on and out. Unlike some hotels in the area, Jay was patroling the parking area through out the night, keeping vehicles safe and non guests off the property. When we decided to extend our stay an additional night, he was helpful in finding the best deal. They have a hot tub and outdoor pool which are a pleasant bonus for the area. Good location for walking to restaurants, convenience stores, or Pacific garden mall. If you're going to be visiting Santa Cruz I would definitely recommend staying here. Best value and many bonus features you won't find at near by hotels that charge way more, and leave you concerned about the safety of your vehicle.

Hot tub was clean and easy to use, enjoyed it a lot. Clean room, very friendly and helpful staff. I liked having the coffee maker and coffee in room, plus the microwave and minifridge which I definitely ended up needing. Bonus was the restaurant across the street, everything we tried was delicious.

Check in was easy. Our room was on the backside, with positively zero view, unless you enjoy looking into the back of an apartment building. It is quite a walk to the beach and Boardwalk. It is probably better to take a car and pay the parking fees. The area had plenty of gas stations and restaurants. It was a nice walk to Downtown Santa Cruz, but much longer to the beach. Our room was small, but spotless. There was only room enough for one desk chair. The mini-fridge, internet and appliances worked perfectly. The bathroom was spotless. The swimming pool was across the street but the hot tub was on the 'office side'. They were both clean. Towels were dispensed by the office. Parking was tight but adequate. There is no breakfast provided at this property. We definitely recommend this property to Santa Cruz visitors. We look forward to staying there again.

Clean two separate bedrooms with a shower in between. We were two friends traveling togther and this was PERFECT! - Comfortable beds, very clean, very quiet, great water pressure in the shower, friendly owners. We had a very refreshing good night rest and went on a full day of exploring and hiking felt amazing. I highly recommend. Also for families - if the parents want to be able to close their bedroom door and have the kids in their own separate room - this affordable suite is a huge plus.

The staff was great and kind enough to provide us with a late check in along with notice of road closures in the area. The room was clean excpet for some jam on the mini fridge. Staff made sure we had fresh towels every day which was nice. The room is a little worn down, but overal nice for a beach motel. The bed was super comfy and had mattress protectors even on the box spring. No signs of bed bugs. Location was perfect for walking to the beach if you don't mind a 5-10 minite walk with a few corner stores along the way and plenty of restaurants to choose from. As a female, I felt safe and would stay here again.

Maids were prompt and plenty of clean towels and nice complimentary liquid soap & lotion was good quality. A few complimentary coffee, microwave fridge. Great shower, hot water, and cotton high quality sheets and pillows, friendly staff...We had two private room with locking doors with the bathroom dividing the two bedrooms. This was a very comfortable room and the place was close to entertainment, food and shopping! We walked to the boardwalk it took 7 minutes. Very good quiet location. We were very happy with this stay. We will book reservations here again!

We chose this hotel since it was close to downtown and the boardwalk and although the property itself was ok, there were a lot of homeless people (unfortunately) hanging around in the parking lot. I have kids and felt somewhat unsafe going out to the car and around the premise. The staff was wonderful (esp Jordan at the front desk) who welcomed us and was very friendly and helpful. The pool was extremely small (an oversized Jacuzzi really) so that was disappointing. Breakfast was great with a lot of options! So good and bad but I do not think we would return.

So we arrived, helped ourselves to coffee only to find we had gone to the wrong Hampton Inn! This one is Ocean Road which is where we had our reservation for. Once we arrived at the Ocean Road Hampton Inn we were greeted by a lovely receptionist who was informative and welcoming. Bed is huge, comfortable and clean. Pool is small but perfect for our kids. Breakfast is a buffet consisting of cereals, hot choices, waffles and plenty of different sauces. Water offered by reception. Spacious room. Spacious bathroom with shampoo and conditioner. Only a 5 minute drive from the boardwalk. Plenty of local diners to walk to. We really enjoyed our stay. Couldn't fault it. Staff so hospitable and kind. Smart TV in the room. Recommend a visit to Capitola beautiful seaside village

We had a great experience here. We arrived around 11:30pm and there were two staff members at the front desk ready to check us in. They were both very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was good overall. I did wish they offered bacon in addition to sausage but otherwise it was good. The indoor pool is really tiny but my kids still loved it and said it was awesome. I usually sleep very poorly in hotel beds but found these to be very comfy. Also appreciated the full size shampoo, conditioner and body wash in the shower. Overall a great stay at an affordable rate. We will definitely stay again when we visit Santa Cruz again. Thanks to the friendly staff for a great stay!

I was really, really impressed with how clean the room was. I'm the type of person that peels back the covers and looks in all the nooks and crannies before I can get comfortable. The room was spotless and had a nice fresh smell too. The view from the window was lovely, the staff was extremely nice, and the breakfast was great! This was such a good deal. Unfortunately, the pool was closed while we were there but I understand these things happen. I couldn't be more pleased with our stay. We will definitely be back!

The place was neat and clean. Pool was warm and clean. Rooms are neat and freshly clean. We arrived Friday night and the front desk guy named Jordan was helpful and professional. I asked for a couple of favors and he was helpful enough to make it happen. We will be back next time when we are in the area!

During my time in Best Western, I received an excellent service since the reception and the amenities. Clean Pool and jacuzzi for my kids. Breakfast everything OK. Definitely recommends the hotel for pleasure and vacations time.

The staff was very nice and ready to help. The facilities were in good condition and comfortable. The breakfast is good. There is always parking available. It was nice to have a swimming pool and a Jacuzzi.

A very good stay. We were here for 3 nights while attending a wedding in Scotts Valley. The person at the reception desk was kind, welcoming, and efficient. She let us choose the location of our room. This hotel has a motel-like feel to it as all the rooms have doors to a common outside walkway. Even with this, the facility felt safe. The free breakfast was very good. Lots to select from, hot breakfast, cereal, baked goods. They had one of those multi hot drink dispensers for different coffee drinks and hot water for tea. The breakfast area was neat and clean. The hotel room itself was clean and comfortable. A very basic room, but everything you would need - luggage rack, iron, blow dryer. The TV was smaller. Having a pool and spa onsite was great. The pool was clean and the pool area furnished with nice tables and chairs. In general, this is a very well kept property.

I had an amazing stay at the Four Points by Sheraton Santa Cruz Scotts Valley. The property is spotless, modern, and perfectly located, close to Santa Cruz but tucked away enough to feel peaceful. The rooms are spacious, quiet, and incredibly comfortable, with everything you need for a relaxing stay. The staff were genuinely warm and attentive, from check-in to housekeeping, everyone went out of their way to make me feel welcome. The on-site restaurant and bar were a pleasant surprise, offering great food and local wines. Parking was easy, and the hotel felt very safe and well-run. Whether you’re in town for business, a weekend getaway, or passing through on a coastal drive, this hotel is a gem. I’ll definitely stay here again next time I’m in the area!

Walking distance to all shops, restaurants, bars and to an area of the beach that’s not crowded, but still able to walk the beach to the main beach area. Also loved having a balcony to sit and drink coffee while listening to the waves. Friendly staff was a big plus!

The location was amazing, super close to beach and town. The room was a decent size and had all facilities needed. Bed was comfortable. View from terrace was amazing! Staff were lovely.

Location is superb to walk anywhere . And if you need something target is like 10 minutes away . Check and check out was perfect . Very comfortable and spacious . Full kitchen if you want to cook inside . You can walk across the bridge to access the beach since the wharf area is getting fixed . Has a terrace to enjoy a drink with a fireplace ( we didn’t use the fireplace )

Two sliding glass doors that faced the water line. Wonderful view from our room. It had a stocked kitchen. Balcony access with chairs for enjoying the view. Location was perfect for accessing the beach with a 3 minute walk and accessing the hiking trails in a 20 min drive.

It was great stay for great price only issue was the parking was non existent if u left hotel and I had small children and did not want to ask that far with them to boardwalk! But other then that and having trouble getting enough towels for 7 people I had amazing stay beds were comfy and made up most every day there was coffee in room with mugs and the family suite was very spacious nice showers! I woudl definitely stay there again !

The location was great; within 10mins walk to the Broadwalk and beach. The hotel upgraded our room with a patio on the ground floor as I was traveling with dogs and wanted easy potty break access. We got to briefly use the jacuzzi, but the jets weren’t that strong and the chlorine seems a little on the stronger side. But it was fine for a quick dip to relax at the end of day. Facilities in the room are pretty standard: ironing board, tv, kettle, fridge, microwave, hairdryer and hangers.

The property is in a great location, just a few blocks up from the beach and beach walk way. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Parking is easy, they additionally have a small store to buy snacks and a free continental breakfast, coffee and tea. It was quiet too, which is a big deal to me!

Anan, the manager, could not be more helpful. The is a fairly simple, economic place to stay about 1 mile from the Santa Cruz Boardwalk. Our room was very big, spotlessly clean, and the beds were incredibly comfortable. If you're looking for luxury, try elsewhere at twice the price. But it had all you need for a safe, comfortable, quiet stay. Plenty of parking around the building. A walk to downtown would be 15 to 20 minutes, probably the same to the Boardwalk. All they have for amenities is a big coffee/capuccino machine next to the office. I booked it on a Saturday night for $169 when everything else was 2 to 3 times that price in Santa Cruz. Would stay there again.

Overall good stay. Not super walkable to attractions of town. Seems like here’s some good places to eat near by. Fridge, microwave, Kurig, comfy bed. Cappuccino machine in the office area which was actually pretty good! Very quiet at the hotel. Except one night had a homeless man yelling near by allll night. Other than that it was very quiet and peaceful. Hallways are like severance lol. Left our car in the parking lot for 3 nights and it was safe!

Enjoyed two nights here. Nice and clean. We had the remodeled king room. Bed was very comfortable. It was very well maintained and relaxing. Close enough to take a nice stroll to the boardwalk and beach.

This was a great place for us to stay- We have some chemical sensitivities and appreciated the cleanliness without too much chemical smells! (We went for a walk and another hotel nearby had such strong scented cleaners, we could smell it from the street! The room had a window we could open, and our request for it to be open before our arrival was granted. (Also no carpets and a place where pets don't stay was helpful for our sensitivities.) The staff were very helpful, perhaps the best we've ever encountered. We arrived well past midnight, weary from travels and were welcomed cheerily. The next day the airlines delivered wayward baggage - and the staff made sure we received it promptly. We may not travel to Santa Cruz again in the future, but if we ever go back, I would want to stay here again: clean and comfortable (and overall quiet). Great location, too - we walked all over from there!

We stayed in the family suite, room 221. We had a great view of the ocean. The room was very clean and great proximity to the wharf and boardwalk. The beds were pretty uncomfortable though. All of us adults had back aches each morning. There also wasn't any fresh coffee or even continental breakfast in the lobby though. There were those little coffee machines in the room with a brand of coffee we had never heard of. Just offering fresh coffee in the lobby would've been a game changer for us though. Aside from that, it was a quiet, clean hotel with nice views. If that's all you need, this is your place. Plus, staff was very friendly.

I stayed at Seaway Inn with my 3 children, and we had a fantastic time! The room was spacious and we had a great view (the deluxe view room). The room was clean and the beds were comfortable. We could walk to the beach, boardwalk, pier, and restaurants in less than five minutes. Great location. The breakfast was a little light, even for kids, so we did end up getting breakfast elsewhere. We definitely would stay there again, great value for the location!

A throw-back beach motel style place (e.g., sliders for doors and surfers hanging around) that was clean, quiet and pleasant. Staff was very helpful. The breakfast is just mini-muffins and fruit, really not much at all. The floor in the room isn't carpeted and the slightly sticky flooring isn't pleasant on bare feet. But the bed was comfortable, the room spacious, and everything worked fine. Convenient to most everything for the vacationer. I was there for business and enjoyed driving around sightseeing and hanging out when free. Great town!

Very cute small hotel across street from the Dream Inn and walkable to Santa Cruz pier, beach and boardwalk . The girl at front desk was very sweet & friendly and the room was very clean and us ladies felt very safe . Perfect location and price ! We appreciated being able to leave our car for an extra hour after check out we just wanted to walk to get coffee. Great experience overall !

The family that owns and manages the property is sweet and polite. The property is undergoing a renovation to the pool, so a little messy. However, the remodeled rooms are perfect! We stayed a week and loved it! The location for its access to downtown and the beach were perfect. We had the chance to walk everywhere while our car was kept safe in the lot on site. We had a wonderful time here. A great value for the money. (clean, safe and close to downtown and the beach.)

The room was massive with a large comfortable bed, coffee facilities, fridge and a big walk in shower. The manager, David was really nice and supplied coffee, juice and breakfast bars in the lobby each morning. Very close to the boardwalk with a lovely terrace to sit and watch the sunset.

The property had a peaceful, relaxing ambience. It was quiet at night, and we could open the balcony door for fresh air, which made the stay even more enjoyable. The on-site restaurant offers a beautiful view and live music, which added a nice touch to the evening.

Chaminade was a total pleasant surprise. It was so easy and friendly for kids and dogs. We hiked and it was cool even on a hot day. The room was large and comfortable with a serene deck overlooking the woods. Dinner at the restaurant was lovely and delicious. I recently stayed here while dropping my daughter off at UC Santa Cruz, and I couldn't have been more pleased with the experience. The staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating, allowing me to check in a bit early, which made my busy schedule a lot easier. The room itself was just as advertised—clean, comfortable, and quiet, providing a relaxing space to unwind after a long day. The attention to detail and welcoming atmosphere made my stay feel pleasant and stress-free. Overall, it was the perfect base for a memorable trip to Santa Cruz, and I'd happily stay here again.

Check in was easy. The lady at the front desk (Laura) told us politely to call her for anything we would need. She asked us to be patient with our request as she was the only one working at night. I saw her working in the front desk, doing deliveries to the rooms and setting up the breakfast. I got two rooms. I slept upstairs at the back and it was very quiet. My company stayed downstairs, she said it was noisy at times. The breakfast was better than I expected. Coffee was fresh and hot. I would return to this place.

Nice roomy covered parking I mean absolutely worth the extremely low cost. Anyone complaining about this motel needs to just pay more then for something with more accommodations, but if you just want a nice room that's clean has parking a nice view and in a pretty nice location well then stay here!

I had a wonderful stay here! The proprietor was incredibly kind and welcoming — it made all the difference and gave the place such a personal touch. The room itself was spotless, comfortable, and had everything I needed. While the décor is a little dated, it actually added to the charm and was more than made up for by how clean and well-kept everything was. I slept really well and felt right at home. I’d absolutely stay here again and recommend it to anyone looking for a cozy, friendly place to stay.

The place seemed a little sandy when we arrived but perhaps that's inevitable. Cleaners did not replenish the coffee, coffee was pretty bad. (Go to one of the many nice breakfast spots nearby.) But otherwise we had a nice stay here. It's not on the ocean but the walk to boardwalk isn't far. With a car you are close to several other calmer beaches, lots of hiking trails, and downtown. It's at a busy intersection with traffic on two sides, but did quiet down at night. King bed was great. Good service, attentive. Pleasant stay for the price.

This motel was a pleasant surprise when I stayed there recently! Located just blocks from the famous Santa Cruz Boardwalk and pier! Rooms were spacious, quiet and equipped with refrigerators and coffee pots!! Balconies were nice as well as the in room wifi! Great seafood restaurants like Stagnaros and The Crows Nest are nearby! Also Charters for fishing or Sailing are just up the road at the Santa Cruz Marina!! This motel is a great value for those on a budget! Also don't forget the great area Golf Courses!😎

The front desk staff were amazing at checking me in. The hotel room had in a small household refrigerator and a coffee pot. There was a nice little dinette. Everything was clean and welcoming. It is very walkable across the bridge to restaurants and shopping.

I waited on my review until i heard back from the property regarding the fact that we jad no running water our departure day (no coffee, showers, or flushing toilets!). Although the initial reaponse to my call was handled poorly (answering service?) and the water was out to the whole building and was not resolved, they were quick to respond and make up for the unacceptable issue. The location was fantastic, rhe first very cold night was quiet and adequately heated. Thanks to earlier reviews, I brought my own kitchen items to save the $50 fee to use theirs (but could not clean up after breakfast due to no water). I would stay again. Two beds requested and i got 2 entire bedrooms, which was not expected but perfect for me and a friend.

I didn't know this was the "colorful" property I had once seen before when picking up a relative from the area a few years back. It's extremely close to the beach and close to the downtown area (restaurants and shops/boutiques), convenient to walk to. I would not recommend #133, as this is at the corner and riddled with foot traffic and folks gathering for too many selfies. (It fits seen to have the only cool-looking door though, with a pelican on it. 😆) I appreciated the opportunity to check in early ($30 fee). I was aparri made aware of the same fee for optional late check-out of 1pm, which is 2 hours beyond regular check-out. So if you want to grab breakfast before leaving the property and having to pay for public parking, this is a viable option. The fishing pier is within walking distance as well, with a boat/bait/fishing pole shop near the end of it. All-in-all, the hotel receptionist was kind (once I explained I was told I could check in early by evening receptionist and not demanding it on the spot) and provided information about the area and some things to do. In fact, they were the reason we went to Shadowbrook for lunch the following day, which was magnificent. Definitely plan on renting from here in the near future. Thanks again!

The terrace has a dramatic Disney-esque view of Horvend Castle across the river, magical at night with croaking frogs and crickets. On the other hand, rooms are small with some frayed furnishings. The continental breakfast was average at best, and the coffee was to be avoided. The bath-shower did not have slip-resistant surfaces or grab bars. Still, the service was good, and I sensed that the owners are trying to upgrade the place. I would stay here again.

A cute, quaint and clean motel surrounded by Redwood trees in peaceful Ben Lomond, California. The staff is wonderful and very helpful, plus the beds are comfortable with big fluffy pillows and warm white down/down alternative (not sure) comforters. I was impressed with how clean the rooms are and how groomed the grounds are kept. There is also a nice pool area as well. Would highly recommend staying here.

I was very pleasantly surprised by this hotel. My girlfriend and I were visiting Santa Cruz and decided we would look for a place to stay since we drove 5 hours and couldn’t drive back the same day. Not being familiar with the area, we initially thought our best option would be a hotel that was nearly a 30 minute walk from the Boardwalk. We then decided we needed something closer to the beach, even if it meant sacrificing quality. This is when we came across Fireside Inn. We noticed that it looked a bit dated from the online photos, but it wasn’t a real breaker for us. It was a 3 minute walk from the beach, so we booked our stay, which was also at a great price. Upon arriving at the location, we were initially confused as to where the hotel was, since none of the buildings matched the photos online. As it turns out, the hotel had been recently painted and looks much better than it does online. The parking situation was very simple, and checking in was easy. Staff was very friendly and even wished me a happy birthday (thank you again!). The real surprise came once we entered our room. When I say this room was clean, I mean it was CLEAN. It was clearly recently remodeled. Nice paint, clean floors, comfortable bed, heated and lit bathroom mirror, walk-in shower with glass doors, so on. Instead of sacrificing quality like we originally thought, our expectations were actually greatly exceeded. I will absolutely stay here again next time I visit Santa Cruz.

The hotel has updates to the rooms and the exterior and there is a lot of security cameras which is nice. The owner is a very nice man and helpful. The inside of the rooms are more comfortable with the updates they did to the floors, paint, mirrors and showers. The hotel is good for a short 3-4 days stay my partner and son stayed for up to four days and it was perfectly fine. The water takes a while to heat up but that’s just due to old pipes. It may not have a continental breakfast or offer a vallet service but the views of the beach, and the fact that it’s steps away from the boardwalk bowl and Santa Cruz beach boardwalk is a huge plus and benefit when you stay here. It’s cozy, updated and right next to the beach. It’s reasonably priced and well worth the stay!

The owners were very friendly! I was very hesitant because of all the negative comments and feedback online, but I went in with an open mind. The room was very clean, I loved that the sheets smelled of bleach, they would remind me that if I needed room service or anything, not to hesitate to ask. There’s a microwave, fridge, big tv, wonderful shower with sliding glass doors. The boardwalk and tons of restaurants and the wharf are right there. The parking is a bit tight, but that really is no problem. Just a little navigation. Waking up and seeing the rides, ocean and hearing the seals is so cool. Don’t believe the negative things about this place!! I’ll definitely be staying there again when I go back. I’m sure grateful for the friendly staff, whom I feel were probably the nicest folks I met in the 5 days I was in California.

I was fire evacuated from my home and stayed here for 3 days. The room was comfortable, the bed comfortable, the bathroom very nice and clean. Coffee station and refrig were appreciated. Nice big TV with good stations. Quiet location in the center of town, walkable and well lit. Parking very good. Manager exceptionally nice. I'd stay again if I couldn't be at home.

Rooms were clean, staff was friendly, family friendly, walking distance to some good restaurants, good price. comfortable beds. Not your typical Quality Inn. This was more like a Mom and Pop type hotel. nothing fancy, but very doable. Not walking distance to the beach, 2 miles according to GPS, with little kids. I would stay there again.

This review is well over due, and I apologize to anyone that could find this useful. At our arrival we were warmly welcomed by Mr. Upen Patel. Our stay was absolutely wonderful. We had an issue with the door lock running out of battery, and Mr. Patel was very professional, quickly attended us, and reassured us that our belongings would be safe as we were leaving the hotel. We loved it here and stayed an additional night. This location is only a few minutes straight shot drive from the boardwalk, and seems a little busy. However when you actually enter into the hotel area is the rooms further in the back, it becomes quite pleasant. You could tell that it was well attended with all friendly staff and it was well maintained compared to the many other quality inns that I have previously stayed at. The room we stayed at had a beautiful patio area right outside, and if it wasn't for covid then we probably would have had breakfast there every morning besides the beautiful flowers in all the planters.

I cant say enough about Mr Patel and staff. They took great care of us during a very difficult time for me and my family. They were willing to work with us on extending our stay as needed. Personally checking in regularly to see if we were OK or needed anything. Very understanding. It was such a relief not to have to jump from motel to motel during this time as thousands were evacuated. My pet friendly room was spacious, clean, and everything worked as expected. I was able to login to work and get things done from the desk in the room. The pet area was small but was cleaned and raked regularly. The parking lot(some covered) was well lit, covered by cameras, and a security guard walked a regular patrol trough the area. The staff did a great job of keeping the room and grounds cleaned with the constant ash-fall that was coming down. Location was nice as there were several restaurants well within walking distance. To the Patel family and the the staff at the Quality Inn, Thank you from Boulder Creek!

Very short walk to the boardwalk and our room was pretty descent, nothing fancy. This Motel is convenient because it’s a short walk to the boardwalk and just to stay the night is perfect. The beds are pretty comfortable and it’s nice having a microwave and fridge in the room. Also, the room was pretty clean and restroom was clean also with enough hot water to shower.

Great proximity to the beach and Boardwalk...less than a 5 minute walk. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Room was clean, and the stay was very comfortable. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in the area.

The host when I checked in was very pleasant and friendly. Very welcoming The facility was clean and uplept nicely. The room was adequately sized and newer bathroom remodel. The door was a bit cramped and to shut it you had to get creative. But very clean and modern. The mattress was a firm mattress that I actually enjoyed. Maybe because I was so tired but very comfortable. One big perk that shouldn’t go without mention. On either side of the bed we’re outlets that had both USB and USBC ports for device charging.

The staff is great, the room was clean, check in is easy. I have stayed here a lot of times, they really do everything to accommodate the guests. If anyone gets the chance to stay there, there are things that really do out from other motels, this last stay the towels were full sized. The guests seem to really enjoy being there. They have done a lot of upgrades over the years. Its not a fancy place, but its a clean welcoming place that is comfortable and very safe.

On a busy intersection during the day which makes for such interesting people & action watching. At night late when sleeping it quieted down. The motel is really in a great location. Park your car, unpack and go have some fun. The San Lorenzo River runs right next to the street and there’s a trail you can take to the boardwalk or over to East Cliff side or the other direction that’s a really nice walk and you get some marvelous views of the beach boardwalk if you go all the way to Cliff Drive Vista Point. I will say though, a nice hot jacuzzi would have really felt marvelous after all the walking we did. Not one offered there but there are spas that we could have gone to that we could have taken care of our tired achey parts. We just weren’t there long enough and didn’t have the time. Ah shucks !!!

The room was clean, but needs to be updated. The bathroom shower was updated and very nice. The bed was comfortable and so were the pillows. I didn’t care for the carpet in the room. I feel wood/laminate floors would be cleaner. We were in room 121 I believe. It was a corner room right by the street, so you do hear the cars passing by. But in the night time, it was quiet. Walls were thin so you can hear your neighbors. The front office staff/man was soo nice and upgraded our room from a 1 to 2 bed, which we didn’t need, but was nice. We loved the location. It was a short walk to the beach. We would stay there again.

No frills. Exactly as described. Checked in on Juneteenth, June 19th for a 4 day stay. Clean floor and bathroom. Clean bedsheets. Has a mini-fridge, bring ice cube trays. Also has small table with one chair. Basic TV works when it wants to. FYI- shower water takes awhile to warm, so, complete your day/ night routine. Limited carport parking (free) but very tight although they have open space for handicap and two spaces that are not in the carport. Also, no housekeeping but can request for fresh set of towels and essentials. And $50 deposit fee but that might vary, check staff upon check-in. Best of all, two short blocks from the Santa Cruz Boardwalk.

We really loved this place. The photos don't do it justice. The sheets were nice quality in the bed. My son and I stayed in a room with a single queen bed. It had everything we needed. Parking, convenient location, nice shower (essential near the beach), fridge, microwave, 3 blocks from the Boardwalk and all kinds of restaurant options. A lot of other hotels were double the cost. This was right next door to the Mariott. The only difference was Mariott had secure parking. This location also had designated covered on site parking. Just no security guards. Hope this helps someone, especially when you are on a budget and need to stretch the total vacation dollars.

I still would recommend to giving it a try because this place was super quiet and tranquil. We plan on returning to the Babbling Brook for our next visit! Love it!!

My stay here at babbling inn hotel was amazing. The most beautiful sights to see just outside the window. Honest and helpful workers who made assistance so much easier. It’s such a cute little room with just enough room for ones comfortably. Honestly this stay was a lot better than a hotel. This felt the closest to a home and even had a much better TV then a hotel if you might be interested in having that luxury. It’s great for the price and definitely will be booking again when I’m out in Santa Cruz. Someone who’s looking for a cheap but amazing hotel should definitely look into this place. 10/10 for sure.

An amazing find, clean, cozy and serene. The location was also perfect, near the action but tranquil at night. We will definitely stay here on our next trip to SC.

The property has charm and is situated in a beautiful, forest-like setting, which made for a peaceful and quiet stay. However, it’s definitely an older place and could use some regular maintenance. The flowers in our room were dead, and the window screens were bent, which made me worry about bugs getting in. There were also an abundant amount of spider webs on our balcony, so we did not get to enjoy it. The check-in process was a bit confusing. The front office is located at the top of the building, which isn’t clearly marked, and there was no one at the desk when we arrived, just a sign instructing us to call a number. We did, and were directed to a lockbox with our key inside. This would’ve been fine if we had been informed ahead of time. There also didn’t seem to be any staff on-site for requests like extra towels or blankets, other than the cleaning crew before checkout. Similarly, we weren’t told that checkout just involved leaving the key in the room. The room itself was pleasant, with a lovely view that allowed for a bit of birdwatching, and the jetted tub was wonderful to use. Overall, better communication and a little upkeep would have gone a long way.

This was a cute and charming little room. Comfortable bed. The shower worked well but was in a tub, so hard to step in for old folks. Also many stairs to navigate with bags and no help. The manager was only available by phone or text. Attentive, but the only person we saw was the maid. She was helpful and pleasant however. There was a window that we couldn't close. It was a chilly night and the heater didn't work. We could hear the babbling brook which was nice.

Much better than expected. Nice large walk-in shower and new bathroom. Clean remodel done with quality. Comfortable mattress larger of mini refrigerator with separate freezer. Beside the narrow layout of the structure n parking lot of an old school motel extra parking in the rear.

Room 108, 2 queen beds, a mini fridge, a mini microwave, tv, front door closes but has an opening on the bottom which “can” allow bugs crawl in. Bathroom was clean and simple: shower has excellent/strong water pressure, I took my own towels, used hotel towels for the floor. Basic room to shower, sleep and s..t. Parking is tight, you want to arrive early. It’s 1.5 miles to the boardwalk, a 34 minute walk each way on flip flops.

I was a little wary after some of the reviews, but we found the beds very comfortable, the staff friendly and the location super convenient. More than enough for our two night stay. We had a room with two bedrooms separated by a bathroom. Both rooms had enough space to move around comfortably and to place luggage on the floor.

I recommend staying here for short stays or trying to budget, It was clean for the most part though the bathroom floor was a bit dirty/dusty but nothing major. The wifi was a bit slow at times but overall this was definitely a great deal and I would stay here again for the price. If you're looking for something cheap but worth the money I would stay here it was a nice stay.

We had a great trip and slept well. We ate a Makai (dinner) on the wharf and had breakfast at the Santa Cruz diner (drove there). We also visited the Seymour Marine Center (great views of the ocean) and fun for kids. The Casino Arcade for kids is actually great!

Great property 3 minute walk to the boardwalk, clean nice quiet. Small bar area, coffee and breakfast sold there. Breakfast was pretty good. Recommend it if your looking for great stay. 24 hr valet parking, get it from Expedia with your reservation it will be cheaper. Not many food or groceries with in walking distance. Yet close to down town.

Amazing property! Driving up to the hotel make it seem like you are pulling up to a 5 star resort. The rooms were very clean and spacious. We stayed at this property as it is walking distance to the beach and the boardwalk, this made our trip headache free and completely relaxing. When we came back in the evening we enjoyed the outdoor pool and the patio with the fire pits! I also used the Spa services which were excellent. We will definitely be coming back to this hotel!

We had 3 rooms for a 2 night for a visit to the SCBB. Rooms were clean and comfortable and staff were pleasant and helpful. Breakfast (not complementary) was very good with plenty of choices. Parking is expensive but we felt like our vehicles were safe.

This is a new hotel. Very clean and spacious modern rooms. The front desk staff was very friendly and attentive. I really appreciate all their help.

We had a lovely, too-short stay at the Capitola Hotel last night. The bed and bedding were fabulous, the staff cheerful and over-the-top accommodating, and the continental breakfast fresh and delicious. Bagels and spreads, English muffins, hard cooked eggs, Noosa yogurt, fresh fruit, pastries, granola bars, biscotti, and more. Good coffee. The room was serene, spotless, airy, quiet ( Grand Bahama room) and comfortable. Cozy room, as typical in a vintage hotel, but the bathroom and amenities were updated beautifully. We will be back. A few steps from the beach, shops, good restaurants and cafes. Don’t miss Gayle’s for a wonderful selection of fresh salads, main dishes to go, or eat in, and fabulous baked goods.

From the time calling and speaking with Katie she was very helpful and got us the room with bigger bed. Sasha- or sorry if I got her name wrong, the Hotel manager was very sweet throughout the entire stay. Their entire staff is very sweet. This is my favorite place to stay, though pricey. It’s a boutique style hotel, and rooms sometimes can be small. But you can’t beat the comfortable beds and pillows, fluffy robes, and being right across from the beach, bars, and dining. I always feel relaxed and rejuvenated after a stay here. They provide coffee and continental breakfast in the morning, although my favorite is going across to Mr. Toots coffee shop for some coffee and treats and overlooking the ocean. If you don’t like noisy, it’s important to close your window and wear the ear plugs they provide. I personally love hearing the morning sounds and the trucks and morning life of a downtown beach. This past time we dined at Shadowbrook, a cool and romantic restaurant. Be sure to ask about their taxi service, they send free old school taxis to come and take you to your reservation! My only suggestion: add a happy hour: basic sparkling, wine, even beer to add to the value of the price per room.

It was amazing! I found parking within 5 minutes of arriving, the hosts were so friendly, and it’s so quaint and clean and close to everything! I was a little nervous because I have two small kids but it’s perfect- we ate our breakfast in the courtyard, we stayed on the first floor in the paradise island room, and it’s right in the heart of Capitola village for those single mamas who don’t want to lug strollers and kids toys in and out of their car… you can literally walk everywhere. They even have a small shower head for the littles. It’s also really nice for a romantic getaway.. exceeded my expectations. I heard close to nothing at night even though the nearby restaurants had live music. 10 out of 10 recommend.

Mark was amazing! He served us Champagne upon arrival. Was friendly and very welcoming. He even went out of his way to offer me a Turkish delight. It was delicious! Sasha was very nice at check in and was really helpful with options on what rooms they had to offer. The continental breakfast was delicious. Housekeeping also deserves a praise. They do a great job everything worked and was operable in the room. A cozy hotel in an excellent location.

This is one of the cutest hostels I’ve ever been to! Everything is well organized and clean. The rooms were great and all of the staff is insanely friendly. I would totally recommend. The location is directly at the beach and in a safe and quiet neighborhood. The stay was so good that I extended it:)

the staff is very friendly & kind, they are really warm people! the rooms were spacious & clean. the location is amazing a 1 minute walk to the beach boardwalk!

Location is fantastic, within walking distance to beach, wharf and downtown dining. Well kept grounds in a safe neighborhood. Plenty of parking, parking passes available for $5/day. Full kitchen with large fridge. Private rooms are very nice. Dormitory was clean, comfortable beds, earplugs available. Very friendly staff.

Staff were so friendly and kind. They baked brownies for the guests, provided coffee and tea and were super helpful and even willing to snap some pics of me! Would return 100%. Loved the property and stained glass, vintage details. Very welcoming.
