The location is great. The sea view is amazing. The hotel is not new and needs renewal but is very clean. The staff is very nice. Pools and jacuzzi are very nice

I had a great stay at the Monte Mar Palace Hotel, the room is of high quality and very spacious. I particularly wonder how they manage to make the bed linen (embroidered with the hotel logo) so soft. I had a single room (with a view of the mountains) and I wonder how big they can get. The receptionist, Raimundo (who speaks English, French and German!), was really friendly and very helpful, giving me the walking tips I needed, which secured my next leg. Check-in went smoothly and I was immediately offered a pool towel with the recommendation to use the pools. The outdoor pool with sun loungers is beautiful with a paranomic view of the sea. The heated indoor pool with Jacuzzi is spacious. There is also a spa and a lobby area with large comfy sofas and even a mini-golf course, just infront of the pool if you fancy a go. The breakfast buffet is great - with lots of choice. As a side tip, just outside the hotel is Kare's Café, where I had a good portion of beef picado and toasted garlic bread, along with a pint of Carol! It may be a simple café but the service is amazing, the friendly young Maderian waiter speaks perfect English and was really helpful in explaining the drinks and food.

This was a last minute reservation while we were riding around the island on motorbikes and we really had no expectations so were very pleasantly surprised. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. We arrived late, but they made sure we got whatever we wanted from the dinner buffet before they broke it down. And much to our surprise, the buffet was quite nice. The breakfast buffet was pretty good too and we loved the fresh fruit available at both dinner and breakfast. The pool is huge and the outdoor area just beautiful. The pool bar has nice cocktails!

It is a rare occasion when my husband expresses emotions, especially of amazement. When we arrived and opened the curtains to get the view from the balcony, here it was and I was the happiest. I have a strong desire to write an essay about how great our stay was, but I won’t. Room was spotless, spacious and comfortable. Breakfast rich and extremely delicious. The pool area clean, sunbeds comfortable. Enough parking spaces. Absolutely mesmerizing views from literally every spot of the property. The location is also pretty convenient to get to different destinations around the island.

We cannot wait to return to this beautiful hotel! We came with Saga for two weeks and received a very warm welcome from our host Carmen on arrival. There were no forms to fill in on arrival and no queues, and within a few minutes we were shown to our room no 435 which was stunning with wonderful views over the North Atlantic Ocean and a welcome fruit basket and water. I would rate this hotel, which was built and opened in 2002, as 5 star plus due to the incredible cuisine, friendly and very helpful and professional staff at all times (from the cleaner to the cook to the restaurant and bar staff and reception, they cannot do enough to help you). We loved the location which was overlooking the ocean with the UNESCO Heritage Laurissilva forest behind us. The location is in Ponta Delgada, a lovely village. The hotel itself is quiet and extremely relaxing. Above all the wonderful and hard working staff who are all so lovely really made our holiday. I would describe this as the best holiday we have ever had. Thank you to our wonderful host Carmen, and to Juan and Paolo in the restaurant who made every mealtime special for us, and to all the other fantastic staff at the beautiful Monte Mar Palace Hotel. Très bel hôtel, très récent, les chambres sont vastes, lumineuses, la salle de bain très agréable. Magnifique vue sur l'océan, la piscine d'eau de mer et la piscine extérieure de l'hôtel. En prime, une piscine intérieure chauffée avec jacuzzi et sauna. Les jeunes filles à la réception sont adorables et font tout pour vous rendre service. Petit déj très complet servi au restau de l'hôtel. A 200 m à pied, tous les petits restaurants du bord de mer. Nous y avons séjourné fin juin, à un prix imbattable : 86 € la chambre double vue océan par nuit, petit déj inclus. Je recommandechaleureusement

Hôtel très récent, décoré avec goût et situé en bord de mer. La nuit vous êtes bercés par le bruit des vagues. Accueil efficace et souriant. Chambre spacieuse très bien équipée. Salle de bain très propre. Piscine extérieure et intérieure avec sauna. Le jacuzzi mériterait d’être un peu plus chaud. Serviettes et peignoir fournis. Parking au pied de l’hôtel. Restaurant dont le niveau est de qualité inférieure. Le petit-déjeuner basique.

Bellissima struttura situata di fronte al mare. Dalla stanza da letto con vista (a pagamento) si può ammirare il mare e sentirne il rumore. Hotel moderno e stanza spaziosa e molto pulita. Letti comodissimi e possibilità di parcheggio in loco. Personale giovane e gentile. Spa inclusa nel prezzo con jacuzzi e sauna. Uniche note negative: 1. colazione non inclusa nel prezzo (5 euro a persona) e visto il costo della stanza poteva essere inclusa 2. Servizio massaggi non disponibile (il massaggiatore esterno non ha mai risposto alla reception) 3. SPA senza la vista mare

Wow I can finally say that I found a hotel that meets all my expectations 👏 The warm welcome when you enter the luxurious reception from friendly professional staff to the spacious modern spotless rooms with stunning sea or mountain views. The indoor pool with jacuzzi and the sauna were very clean and ideal to relax after a day of exploring the natural beauty of scenic places near by of this wonderful island. The hotel also offers a outside pool and has access to a sea water pool, unfortunately the weather and sea weren't in our favour to go in, but will definately be back in warmer month 😉. Breakfast included with room had plenty to choose from and made fresh. The restaurant and pool bar aren't managed by the hotel but treat the guests very well. Thanks to all the Calamar Hotel staff and management for making it such a memorable holiday. 5*

Clean and nice room with beautiful view on the Ocean. The bed was comfortable and air conditioning was quiet and working well. Both pools (inside and outside are great), and there is also sauna. The staff is really friendly and helpfull. Breakfast was simple but tasty with plenty to choose from. I definately recommend checking the hotel restaurant for dinner as it was the best Maderian food on our holiday, and the serving was huge! Overall it was best hotel of our trip (and we stayed in 4 different ones).

We stayed in this hotel for a week. The room was comfortable and included a mini fridge. We enjoyed breakfast each day with a good variety of fruits, bread, cooked breakfast, yoghurt and cereals. The staff were very friendly and helpful. There is a sauna, turkish bath and jacuzzi as well as outdoor pool. The mini golf is fun and there is a pool table and table tennis. It's only a 5 minute drive down to the Sao Vicente sea front, but it would be a steep walk.

De l'arrivée au départ que du bonheur ! Un hotel de petite taille avec tous les équipements ( piscine, mini golf, sauna, jacuzzi ...) dans un cadre verdoyant et reposant. Un belle table pour reprendre des forces après une journée de randonnée ou de visite. Et un personnel polyglotte d'une rare gentillesse : merci à eux !!! Bref , une superbe adresse avec un rapport qualité /prix étonnant pour se poser quand on visite le nord de l'île. Je recommande sans retenue !!

Nel complesso soggiorno ottimo da rifare ho persino ricevuto un biglietto di auguri per il mio compleanno, un pensiero carino che mi ha fatto molto piacere

L'hôtel est très agréable, la vue est magnifique et le personnel (qui parle très bien français) très professionnel. Nous avons dîné au restaurant de l'hôtel, le repas est vraiment de qualité même si le choix est un peu restreint. Pour aller dîner ailleurs il faut prendre la voiture. Le parking est un peu petit et le petit déjeuner n'a rien d'exceptionnel. La piscine lorsqu il fait beau est parfaite pour se reposer après une belle journée de randos. Il manque un petit frigo dans la chambre et le jacuzzi était trop froid, il ne nous a pas été possible de nous y baigner. Dans l'ensemble le séjour à été très agréable et je conseille vraiment cet hôtel.

The hotel is reached in a comfortable 50-minute drive from the airport using the new roads. The mountain passes, which are unmissable, are best left to a fresh day. The hotel staff were unfailingly friendly and obliging. The walking folder had disappeared but the reception staff were able to advise us of a nearby levada walk. Our initial room was very disappointing, rather dark with no view at all from a little terrace squashed behind a hedge. Halfway through our stay, we were able to upgrade to a beautiful 2nd-floor room with a balcony and superb views of the mountains - well worth the 15 euro supplement. A very good breakfast catering for all tastes. Portions for dinner, as in all the island's restaurants, are generous. The gardens are very pretty with plenty of areas to sit. We enjoyed the mini-golf, which was well-maintained. The swimming pool was lovely but disappointing that the surrounding cover is permanently on at this time of the year so it wasn't possible to sit by the pool and enjoy the view. (However, it did mean the water was warm and there was no chill when you got out!) The courtesy bus down to the centre of the village does not run until later in the year. It's a good half an hour's steep walk and nice to do once but a taxi back is a good idea!

This hotel is very modern and very stylish , perfect for a few nights in the mountains, the sauna and outdoor pool are amazing and immaculately clean towels and robs provided in bedroom , shared lounge area was lovely idea too giving more space . The room was really large with stunning balconies and picture perfect windows to frame the wonderful scenery, the showers is massive and sleek in the room can’t highlight this enough ! Breakfast was tasty and fresh , such great value for money for 2 nights stay. The area itself has stunning views over the town and sea , small shop , coffee shop and restaurant within short walking distance, you would require a car to get to this hotel though as it’s isolated however we were looking for this aspect as we were looking to relax away from the main town of Funchal which is obviously more lively . The hotel was quiet as it was just after new year and it felt like we had the whole place to ourselves. Really enjoyed our stay here , having stayed all around the island this was definitely the best value for money and the most beautiful hotel .

The property was beautiful! Pool was amazing to use and grounds very well maintained. Plenty of free parking, the reception desk was kind and helpful, and the front gates closing at night was a great safety feature. The room was clean and spacious, the bed was comfortable, and the breakfast was delicious. As a solo woman traveler I felt safe here. It was close to attractions like seixal beach, fanal forest, and Porto moniz natural pools. It was within 30 minutes of Funchal as well.

Everything has exceeded our expectations, the scenery, facilities, staff, atmosphere, and especially the sauna. We expected a simple steam room, but it was a high-quality sauna with a "Harvia" branded heater, perfect for those looking to get a really hot sauna, but you can also choose a lower setting if that's your preference. There's a hot/cold shower in the sauna, as well as an outdoor pool to cool down after the sauna. Our stay came with bathrobes which made the stay feel even more luxurious. The atmosphere was amazing, views from anywhere within the hotel are mindblowing and the staff was super friendly. Since the hotel is a bit uphill, on our last day, the clouds were a bit lower so we woke up to what felt like having clouds in front of us, instead of above us. Relaxing at the balcony with this kind of view felt like heaven. 11/10

Our stay was perfect. The hotel area is gorgeous with lovely maintained gardens, and the views are breathtaking, esp in the sunlight. Everything is simply pristine... Importantly, it is very close to all the lovely hiking places and is very quiet so you can get peaceful sleep at night. The room itself has everything you need - it is clean, pretty, spacious, and has a well working air con. The staff were very friendly and spoke English freely. I could not fault anything during our stay and really wish we had booked to stay there longer. Highly recommend the place and the area! P.S. the best poncha in town is served at the Old School Bar 4 mins away and comes with a bunch of cats that love to hang around!

Our stay at Quinta Vale Vitis was the highlight of our holiday in Madeira! The location is spectacular, with mountain views in every direction, and the sea and the pretty Sao Vicente Village further down. After travelling from Funchal, we loved that the area was quiet, but there were still plenty of good local restaurants and bars within walking distance. Our room was spacious and had a lovely terrace, and it was great to have a communal area with a lounge and kitchen. The pool / garden area was delightful and breakfast was delicious in the morning too, with lots of fresh fruit and homemade bread. We would definitely recommend visiting Sao Vicente and hope we can come back to stay here again in the future!

We had a wonderful stay at this accommodation in São Vicente! The location is absolutely perfect for exploring the stunning northern part of the island. Surrounded by breathtaking views, it was a peaceful and picturesque base for our adventures. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, always going out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed. The rooms were comfortable and clean, with a bit of an updated feel, though some of the showers could benefit from a minor refresh. However, this didn’t detract from the overall experience, as everything was well-maintained and offered a welcoming atmosphere. If you’re looking for a charming place with a great location, friendly service, and lovely views, this is the ideal spot!

Everything! This place is beautiful, peacefull, quiet at night. It is spotless clean. I would describe it as luxury rural tourism at its best. The location is great, you could sit by the pool all day and look at the mountains and bananas. Its a good position in almost the centre of the island for exploring. Good restaurants and one levada with tunnels around also. And finally, ladies who work there are awesome. They do an amazing job and make you feel like at home. They helped us with everything and for us they made this stay completely fantastic. I travel a lot and this was my top three stay ever. Thank you! P.s. breakfast was abundand and top notch with local food and beds are super comfy

1) Property is located in the great area with stunning views and in the same time, not far from many landmarks and the city. 2) Doubleroom was exactly what we needed with 2 separated rooms. Big number and we had the corner one which we really liked. Was very comfortable and clean. 3) In general hotel is like an old styled pansion from italian movies. Atmosphere is amazing. 4) Has big parking and garden with pool is simply beautiful. 5) Stuff was very helpful and friendly in the same time very professional. 6) Pretty nice sound proof + it was very quiet, this is the most important for me in the hotels.

I was blown away by the tranquility and the surroundings of this establishment. It is a perfect stay. I would rate it higher than any luxury hotels! Wonderfully and thoughtfully decorated. The room was cozy, the shower had good pressure. The bed was fantastic, so comfortable! The breakfast was delicious with many options to choose from. And they also have a beautiful friendly cat Tasha who is always up for company :) Next time I’m in Madeira, I will stay at this place for the whole time

Very welcoming and helpful staff. Spacious, clean and quiet room. A varied breakfast menu was available of fresh food of good quality. The location was very convenient for arrival by car with good car parking facilities.

This was the best place in the whole of Madeira. And probably the best hotel ever. The place is exceptional, cosy, homey, clean, well designed, not crowded with guests. The staff was genuinely friendly and helpful. The room was perfect, great shower, great details and extras. Make you feel really welcomed. We swam in the pool. Good temperature for swimming, perfect area to chill,read, enjoy the view. We booked sports massage and it was really good and worth the money. They also gave us bathrobes.The breakfast was exceptional, smoothies, freshly squeezed juice, garden veggies etc. Outside area is also very comfy for chilling. You need to have a car for this place. Some good restaurants around.

When we booked this hotel, we loved the views and the swimming pool. When we arrived we were lost for words. I don't usually leave reviews but the staff were so welcoming, so helpful and the overall feel of the hotel was just amazing. Here's few points that we loved: - The views, it's super beautiful, peaceful - The herbal teas and the food. Local produce, the teas were also from my understanding something the grow themselves - We were exploring very early, so the hotel said they can do pack lunches (picnic) to take away as breakfast. They gave us a backpack with freshly squeezed orange juice, water, fruits and the best sandwiches. We got to enjoy them in the hike. One day we couldn't pick up the breakfast so they even left it in our room. - Breakfast with great view, loved the music. - There is lounge area with games and tea/coffee for you to get in the evening - The swimming pool is heated and we got robes with towels. Only thing would be nice is for slippers. - The staff were just all so kind - Best bed sheets, we slept so well !

Everything was simply amazing. I love how they pay attention to small details, everything was spotless, i didnt see a dead fly or a cobwed anywhere. Everything is presented well. I was hoping to stay 2 nights but I can see why its a popular stay and it was unavailable for the extra day. Amazing breakfast, they even have a pancake maker! Best breakfast. This property should be rated 5*. It even had its own garden where they grow fruit and veg, i think it was organic. The views are amazing, the silence and peace is energising. You need a car to get there and stay a night or more as theres no food places withing sensible walking distance. The hotel only serves its amazing breakfast. Theres a great restaurant in town at the split road which serves great pizza too. A great stay with history, views, peace, cleanliness and great staff.

The people working at Solar are the nicest! I still can‘t believe how attentive, friendly and courteous they were. They greet you with a smile, warm words and make you feel at home right from the beginning! They premise and house are impecccable and super cozy, too. The view into the valley was amazing - we loved the little balcony! Our bed was super comfy and the room spacious and super clean. The breakfast options aren‘t endless but everything tastes so delicious as most of it is homemade or grown locally - the eggs we ordered were fantastic!

One of the greatest places I’ve ever been. Up in the mountains, felt like I was reborn, surrounded by wild nature, animals, fresh air. Great breakfast, stunning views, super friendly service. Felt like home. Reminded me of childhood, kinda magical, like a dream place. Aqua pool with a mountain view, sauna, lots of space to sit, soak up the sun, just breathe. Rooms? Beautiful, really beautiful. Fully equipped, spotless, and I had an amazing mountain view from my window. Felt truly cared for. Customer service? Friendly, easy to talk to. I was there alone, but I loved it. Hope to come back.

Everything about our stay was excellent, but most of all, the host Paulo! Paolo gave us amazing tips of what to see each day, tailored to our areas of interest. He even provided us with a delicious and plentiful bagged breakfast to go (abundant sandwiches, fruit and water) on the day we left for our sunrise hike at 5am. He was always helpful, pleasant, authentic, honest and warm. The facilities were great - clean, conveniently located for many hikes, and we enjoyed our outdoor balcony each evening to relax on. Breakfast was delicious, fresh and plentiful! Wonderful hot coffee to order (we only needed to order the first day and after that he remembered how we each like it), fresh bread and variety of buns with cold cut meats and cheeses, yogurt and jams. Also fresh juice. Nicely presented - we always felt very welcome ! Paulo is a lovely, warm and caring person who went out of his way to make sure our holiday on Madeira was everything we had hoped for and more! Cannot say enough about the wonderful accommodation, and the amazing warmth and helpfulness of Paulo. We would definitely come back here!

Small hotel run by very pleasant owner Paulo, we really enjoyed our stay. Rooms were cleaned every day, every day new towels, toileteries. Breakfast was the best! Continental breakfast, served on your table with fresh coffe your choice from professional preasure coffe machine :) You can enyoy capuccino or small espresso and ask even for more for free. Breakfast includes bowl of fresh fruits and 3 kinds of pastries with delicious Madeira croisants. I really miss them now :) They have no problem with anything in hotel and always want to please their guests to the highest point. They recomand you best levada walks, what to do and see in Madeira and show you in maps where it is. Really great support. Hotel doesn't have regular dinner, but they will cook for you anything you like if you order it in advance. This is a guarantee of fresh fish :) This small hotel is the best for your stay if you like quiet area with nice view. Ideal for couples. Only 12 rooms in hotel. Close to minimarket at the next corner and also gas station. Public parking area on place and also parking is awaylable on road along the hotel. Hotel is situated on the north part of Madeira with close access to all most popular Levadas and sightseeing.

This is an amazing place where we met such a sincere attitude of the hotel owner. Paulo is ready to help in absolutely any matter, tell everything, prompt and advise. You can take a map and ask Paulo about the places where you are going to go. It felt like visiting a friend and not a regular hotel. Delicious fresh breakfasts with fruits were a good filling to explore the corners of the island all day long. They also prepare freshly brewed coffee or cappuccino for breakfast. Paulo is a very-very kind and open person, because only a person with a good soul will still pay attention to local cats which also need to be fed. And only here we tasted a fantastic dinner on all Madeira, asking Paulo to cook sea bream with vegetables from local gardens in advance. It was adorably delicious and worthy of a Michelin star. The rooms themselves are always clean and pleasant, towels are changed every day. If something is missing or something is needed you can easily ask the owner about it and you will have everything - whether it be an electric kettle or mugs. There is a balcony from where you can look at the ocean or just relax in the evening. If you have an early check-out then ask Paulo and sandwiches and fruit will be waiting for you to go. We remember the time spent in this hotel with warmth and like so much communication with Paulo.

How can I better describe than what Ms Evgmur from Belarus has written 😅 we absolutely loved our stay. I really respect and admire the owner Paulo, the people make the place a home not only to us travellers but also to the local stray cats. I recommend staying here 1000%. The breakfast, the dinner everything can be customised to ur liking. We had special vegetarian breakfast with the besttt hummus I have ever tasted. The tomatoes were so amazing I want to cry 😂. Made from fresh local produce, we had amazingggg vegetarian meal - portions are large and made with a lot of love. Coffee was also really good. Paulo is also accommodating to our wishes, very knowledgeable, kind, empathetic, all the positive adjectives there is!! For dinner u should not misss his cooking, inform a few days in advance as he needs time to prepare from scratch. The building is a bit old yes but the rooms, bathroom, dining area were very clean. We also had a view of the Atlantic Ocean from the room as well as dining area. If anything in the room needs fixing, it will be fixed by the time u come back to your room. There is also private parking available. A pharmacy is also nearby.

The most perfect stay I have ever had. Peaceful, clean and safe place Delicious breakfast Close to the beach & good bus connection with Funchal and villages on the north part Bus stop just few meters from the accomodation. This place is perfect basis for visit the most spectacular hiking places on the island and discovering north Madeira. Paulo’s kindest personality and thoughtful hospitality spiced my stay at this beautiful place what I will never forget, see you again in the future!

Lovely quiet accommodation in a house that feels like home. Helena is a wonderfull welcoming host. The room was great, spacious and spotless. Breakfast self serve in the morning. Great central location on the island to explore (east) Madeira. Restaurants, shops 5+ min drive away. Would definitely return and recommend!

This is the best place I have ever been hosted in. We arrived late at night, the host waited for us, welcomed us with a big smile and explained everything about the facilities. This is her house and it has some rooms for the host. The kitchen is extremely well equipped for self cook and on top of that with a huge generousity she offers a lot of small things to eat on the house, such as cakes, cereals and so on. Everything is super clean and tidy. There is a place where you can take yourself some madeira wine or make yourself tea. It feels like a boutique 5-star hotel. The rooms are beautiful with new furniture. The whole house has an amazing view. The living room is super cozy. It has some board games, blankets, and all of that well-designed and clean! She took care of us very nicely when we had some exceptional requests. Our room was cleaned and made every day, and she made our laundry for free. To sum up, this is a fabulous place, can't recommend enought.

First of all the lady that is managing the place is amazing. She gave me a lot of advices on the island and she was made sure my stay was just perfect. Room was very big, comfy bed and big bathroom with everything. Amazing breakfast with fresh local fruit. The house is big, in the middle of the nature, very quite at night. I'll definitely come back on my next visit in Madeira!

Our recent stay at Solar do Carvalho proved to be a tranquil getaway. We selected a ground-floor room with a double bed, providing a snug retreat. The room, generously proportioned and impeccably kept, set a soothing atmosphere. The daily housekeeping ensured a consistently high standard of cleanliness. The central location was a definite asset, affording swift access to every corner of the island within an hour's drive, thereby simplifying our exploration of Madeira's natural marvels. It is worth noting that a car is indispensable for reaching this location. The communal kitchen, while convenient, may necessitate some coordination with fellow guests due to the multiple-room layout. However, this minor inconvenience did not overshadow the overall positive experience. Furthermore, while breakfast offerings were modest, they proved to be ample for our requirements. In summary, our stay in Sao Vicente offered a memorable retreat. The blend of capacious rooms, assiduous housekeeping, and a strategically advantageous location ensured a comfortable and convenient visit. Despite minor considerations, this accommodation comes recommended for a serene stay in Madeira.

The place is a little better up the mountain so the view is amazing but perhaps a bit further away from facilities. So buy supplies for the fridge before. Well equipped and spacious kitchen, nice terrace with a jacuzzi, parking available. They do laundry services for a good price too.

That was a wonderful stay - nice ambiente. Felt like in paradise with the little fountain running and all the plants. The room was really nice and kitchen had everything you need to cook. There is even a hottub in the garden. Nice porch as well.

We had a great stay at Gardens Guest House. The place was very clean, with many helpful facilities and extras that facilitated our stay like bath towels, shower products and a very well equipped kitchen! Including a jacuzzi. The lady with the bright green eyes was very helpful and kind when I was trying to work out the coffee machines with sleepy eyes.

I had an unforgettable stay at this incredible guest house – a true slice of paradise. The bedroom was absolutely wonderful: cozy, spotless, and tastefully decorated, offering breathtaking views that perfectly capture the essence of both the mountains and the sea. Waking up to the sound of birds singing and the view of nature all around was pure magic. The garden was lush and beautifully maintained, like something out of a dream. I especially loved relaxing in the jacuzzi while soaking in the serenity of the surroundings. The shared kitchen was fully equipped with everything I needed, making it easy to feel right at home. Every moment here felt peaceful and rejuvenating – I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect getaway.

Loved this place, amazing sunny terrace to have breakfast, kitchen is very well equipped even with a bar-style coffee machine. Room was spacious and comfortable. Great view overlooking Sao Vicente. Shampoo and shower gel provided in the shared toilets. Hairdrier provided. Easy check-in with key locker.

Comfortable location, very clean and well-maintained. The hotel has a restaurant, swimming pool, jacuzzi, and sauna (available for an extra charge). Breakfast was tasty, though we would have appreciated a bit more variety. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The sangria was wonderful!

Breakfast was good! Continental style. We were there visiting fam so we went to local spots and didn't get to go dinner at the restaurant but it seemed awesome. The entire vibe of the place was awesome. We also had gorgeous weather throughout our stay. Pool, sauna and jacuzzi...very nice!

I’ve stated here before and always enjoy the faculty. It’s quite beautiful with a nice pool and jacuzzi.

A very welcoming friendly host, super convenient for the local bars/town/restaurant and exploring the mountains and northern Levadas. Elda and Leonel's accommodation is truly magnificent. São Vicente and the north coast of the island are spectacular, this is the perfect location to take in all of the area has to offer. Leonel is a local, so is an expert on the area (great recommendations for food, drinks, hiking trails, and swimming spots). I didn't have the pleasure of meeting Elda, but the design features of the property (for which I believe she is responsible for) are excellently unique. It's a comfortable space to spend downtime, with stunning views from the balcony and a pristine pool to lounge by. The property is perfectly located within a two minute walk of São Vicente village, and a further five minutes to the seafront (which hosts more options for bars, cafes, and restaurants). Leonel provided both a transportation service to and from Funchal, as well as a bicycle rental service, both at a very reasonable cost. These additional services helped make my stay extra special and hassle-free respectively. I was also given a generous sample of Leonel's homemade Madeira wine, which was succulent and sweet as well as fresh eggs from the chickens they keep on site. Elda and Leonel's two cats also wander around the property. They are friendly, gentle, and affectionate; good company all in all. I endured both calm sunny days and stormy downpours while in São Vicente. Regardless of the conditions, I always felt that I was in the perfect place to enjoy my holiday.

This is by far the most beautiful place we have ever stayed at. The apartment was extremely clean and looked amazing - we especially loved the view through our glass door from where you could see the entire valley. The outside facilities like the pool and the garden as well as the terrace could not be more perfect. We were amazed how much work is put into all the little details. The location is perfect, a little bit up the hill right in São Vicente. You have an incredible view of the village and the mountains but you are at the same time in walking distance from the centre of the town and the ocean. Leonel and Elda are the most amazing host we have ever met - they made us feel welcome from the first second and gave us some very useful recommendations for our trip. He also arranged for us to rent a car which worked perfectly. We really loved the selfmade wine and fresh eggs. This place is very unique we enjoyed it so much that we did not want to leave. We are hoping to come back soon to this wonderful place!

Our stay in Leonel’s and Elda’s home could not have been more perfect. Leonel welcomed us on arrival and gave us a lot of tips and recommendations (as well as some fresh eggs and his Madeiran wine!). The home itself was beautifully decorated and had everything we needed. We could not get enough of the view from the balcony (and the friendly chickens!). The proximity to the beach front which has a supermarket and many restaurants meant we could have a break from driving in the evenings. Sao Vicente is also a great base to explore the island. Our stay was truly special and we would recommend this home to anyone!

Great location with amazing view to from the balcony, we also have possibility to buy some fresh eggs from host, Leonel was great host, keeping us informed about the trails as the wather in march was bit windy, very well equipted kitchen, 2 lovely and friendly cats in the garden, few restaurants in walking distance aprox 10 min was very handy. IN general we enjoyed the stay very much and can recommend it especially if you like to stay smaller town surrounded by mountains views, but still not far from the sea.

Everything! The location was incredible, surrounded by beautiful green mountains and even a view of the sea. The kitchen and bathroom were extremely clean and well equipped. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The garden is beautiful, full of lizards and well maintained. The tents were spacious, really cozy, and comfortable. Finally, the place is very well located, as it is close to many amazing destinations on Madeira's north coast, such as Seixal, Santana, and many great levadas. At the same time, the place felt quite remote and you could see many stars on clear nights. I would highly recommend a stay at Granny's place for anyone visiting the island.

The location was amazing, with a wonderful panoramic view of the mountains. The garden was very well mentained, the tent and the facilities were very clean. You might find some bugs creeping into the tent or bathroom though, so if you're squirmish, beware, but nothing that made our stay uncomfortable - and considering the camping setting, it was to be expected. The kitchen had everything you could possibly need. There was also shampoo and shower gel in the bathroom, and (very soft) towels were provided. Staff were very polite and helpful. The bed was very comfortable, the blankets were very warm, and there was a mini fridge in the tent. The other travelers were also very nice, which made the atmosphere even more enjoyable. We're sorry for leaving the tent in a bit of chaos, we were in a hurry to catch the bus 😅

During our long stay in Madeira we lived at 7 different hotels/camps in different places on the island and this one was the best! Absolute chill out place, beautiful tents with private sitting in front of it, hammocks, garden... there is a bar where a friendly host will serve you drinks for a very good price. The bathrooms and kitchen had nothing to do with facilities normally found in camps! It was like to be in someone's luxurious villa's bathroom and kitchen! It's so romantic place for couples! Beautiful view, peace, incredibly clean! And the organization was perfect as well. I have nothing to complain about. I just wish we could stay more days!

We didn’t expect the garden to be this large. Just like a park, it was not only colourful but also cosy and extremely well maintained. The hosts were super friendly, always open for a nice conversation and provided us at our arrival with all necessary information about the accomodation. Both the indoor and outdoor kitchen were equipped with anything we needed to cook and eat. In the evening, you can relax at the cozy bar that offers delicious and fresh made drinks for fair prices.

overall, this is a lovely property! the location is beautiful , high up in the hills where you can look at the surrounding terraces. - the garden is really lovely and well maintained - the kitchen comes equipped with a toaster oven, a microwave, kettle, stove, fridge and multiple ways to make coffee! - the property is very quiet at night - the bed is comfortable and is on the firmer side - washing machine (communal), although it does cost €3.50 per load - self check in is available and is very easy! No worries if you have a late flight to Funchal! - the wifi does go in and out a bit but when it is there it is pretty good! perfect for a quiet escape. Note that you will likely need a car to get to most places! the Bungalows are nice, especially for the price

The staff were friendly and attentive, and the location felt truly special, surrounded by lush vegetation, with a spacious garden, outdoor jacuzzi, and hammock. Our suite had its own terrace, perfect for relaxing. Breakfast was enjoyable, though a bit more variety would make it even better.

Our stay at Madeira Surf Lodge was wonderfully comfortable: the suite felt like a cozy home, and the terrace treated us to calming mountain views each morning. The breakfast was tasty and the host was incredibly helpful—guiding us on where to park our car made everything feel so easy. The garden, bursting with colorful flowers, was a peaceful spot to unwind. Best of all, the lodge is just a short walk from the heart of São Vicente—only about 1,300 feet from the center, making it both tranquil and perfectly positioned for exploring .

the room was clean, the bed very comfortable, quiet (if the neighbours are quiet, we could hear them talk at night ). it has a kitchen you’re surrounded by a paradise garden, a beautiful view of the mountain, a funny neighbouring parrot a simple but good breakfast: cereal, milk, vegetal milk, yogurt, coffee, tea, fruits, croissants, salami and cheese

First of all, Filipe is a great host. Contact before arrival was perfect. At arrival he came to bring us the key and explain everything in the apartment. It's small, but super clean, comfortable and has everything that you need. Filipe gave us a few tips right away for restaurants. The place where the apartment is located is small and therefor really calm and peaceful. And oh-my-god the view. All around you see green and mountains. It is indescribable how beautiful it is here. It's a 5 minute walk ('down' to the ocean) for just a few restaurants and a small grocery store. Once again: all you need. There's also a really nice bar called Porto de Abrigo. We stayed here for only 4 nights because we moved around the island, but would have happily stayed much longer.

-Great location (well connected motorways) as base to our Madeira trip. Walking distance to supermarket, bakery, pharmacy and restaurants. -Generally quiet -Free spacious parking within walking distance. -Very spacious and exceptionally clean apartment with fully equipped kitchen (except for oven but we didn't need it), washer (helpful for long stays), balcony, fitted cabinets and comfy beds (with wide selections of pillows). -Homemade bread on one of the day was definitely a nice gesture! Note: very well thought off apartment to meet your general needs

The apartment is very beautiful and decorated with great taste. It has two bathrooms, two balconies with views of the mountains and even a patch of ocean. The internet works very well, the kitchen is fully equipped (it doesn't have an oven, but there is a microwave), and the beds are very comfortable. The location is perfect: just 5 minutes from the beach and the promenade/restaurants, and in the center of the town, near the shops, restaurants, and the central square. We really loved it.

I can’t imagine a more perfect place in São Vicente. For the price of a hotel room you can be on a comfortable apartment in the center of the village. There are restaurants and a market in easy walking distance. Filipe is a wonderful and helpful host. Great views from my balcony.

We appreciated the location within the northern region and close by the sea as well as good shops and restaurants. The apartment was very spacious, comfortable and perfectly clean. Two terraces and a patio were perfect. Host Felipe was kind and helpful. Highly recommended.
