Friendly staff, walking distance to town, and the lake. Very clean, loved the jacuzzi that was ready for us in arrival and when we got back from a big day at Milford Sounds.

The lady at the front desk was so pleasant and cheerful and happy. Very helpful and nothing was a bother. The hottub was fantastic at the end of a long day. The lady at the desk even made sure it was hot and ready after a day trip to Milford Sound.

Quiet, Clean and Comfortable Room and Bed. Location good easy walk to the Lake front, Shops and Restaurants. Reception and Staff friendly and helpful. The small kitchenette and BBQ great for self catering. Good starting point for a day trip to Milford Sound. Hot Tub was a real treat at the end of the day. Overall Very Good Value Accommodation.

I can’t say enough good things about Radfords and also the manager, Kerri. She is extremely helpful and welcoming! By my own mistake, I booked a “1 bedroom with access”, which in NZ means handicapped. Yikes. Our bathroom “shower” had a curtain in the corner, and a drain close to the middle of the floor. It could not keep up with the shower flow. Our 1st morning here, our bathroom floor was soaked and a mess. As soon as I asked Kerri for a different room she obliged willingly, and even helped us move our belongings while we were out on a tour. We happened to be at the front desk on Halloween afternoon, and she was truly lovely greeting the little trick-or-treaters! As far as the room, it was thoughtfully equipped with just about everything we would need for our stay in Te Anau. We were able to make breakfasts and coffee in our kitchenette, and took advantage of the washer and dryer onsite. The location is absolutely perfect, on the lake and a short walk into the center of town for restaurants and shopping. Our Milford Sound cruise tour bus even picked us up in front of the hotel! Just a lovely place to stay while exploring Te Anau and the Fiordland National Park. Highly recommend Radfords!

My husband and I have just spent 3 nights at Radfords on the Lake. We stayed in Room 12 and it was so beautiful! It is right across from the lake and the views are mesmerising! Our room was so tastefully furnished and there is everything you could think of included in the room. The room was very spacious with a separate bedroom. The bed and pillows are so soft and comfortable it was like sleeping in a cloud! The room was impeccable in its appearance and was so spotlessly clean it was evident that a lot of care and pride goes into each room. The kitchenette was very well equipped with a microwave, dishwasher and stove top. Kerri the owner is so lovely! She is extremely friendly and helpful. She gave us recommendations for restaurants, cafes, places to see and we went to everywhere that she recommended! We absolutely loved Te Anau and we loved Radfords on the Lake! If I could give Radfords on the Lake 10 stars I would! We loved every minute of our stay and we will definitely be back! Terry & Caroline

What great people. Te Anau might be suffering from Covid19 but it has not stopped the amazing hospitality. We were given great advice on where to eat, which tours and how to get the best out of our stay. The 1 bedroom apartment was clean, spacious and comfortable and the view was great. What was memorable though was the friendly and helpful owners.

All the facilities provided really went beyond expectations for me. Stayed for a night definitely utilised the jacuzzi. The layout of the room is great. Space is more than enough for 2.

Fantastic apartment in a perfect location, and had everything we could possibly have needed for our overnight stay. Clean, super comfortable beds, and lots of lovely, luxurious little touches, like candles in the spa bathroom, lavender bags and chocolates on the pillows, milk and water in the fridge, and biscuits, tea and coffee sachets provided for a welcome drink. Umbrellas were available in reception to borrow, which was handy as it was raining when we went out to explore the town. I just could not fault this place, and wouldn't hesitate to return if we are lucky enough to be in the area again. The only comment my son made was that although the single bed in the lounge was comfortable enough for a one night stay, the fact that it was side on to the wall, so had no headboard, made the pillow keep sliding off in the night and waking him up. But other than that, the accommodation was perfect for our one night stay.

It's a blast from the past, a one story motor hotel (aka motel). Like the 1950s in many ways. Friendly staff, clean room, kitchenette, patio, separate bedroom. It's spacious, with a sofa and small dinner table. Lots of plugs. If you order breakfast, it's delivered through a little cabinet door. It's cook-it-youself cuisine. Right on the lake, close to restaurants and shops. A nice place. Glad we stayed there!

Beautiful apartment in a perfect location, which had everything we could have hoped for, for our overnight stay. Apartment was clean, as were the super comfortable beds, and we loved all the luxurious little touches, like candles in the spa bathroom, and lavender bags and chocolates on the pillows There was complimentary milk and water in the fridge, and biscuits, tea and coffee sachets provided too. Umbrellas were available in reception to borrow, which came I n useful as it was raining when we went out to explore the town. I just could not fault this place, and would not hesitate to return if we are ever in the area again. The only slight issue was that the single bed in the lounge was side on to the wall, so although the bed was comfortable, my sons sleep was disturbed by the pillow sliding off the end of the bed in the night and waking him up,

What can I say… the owners are extremely helpful and a pleasure to talk to. The Lodge is absolutely spotless.. so very clean ! A superb continental breakfast delivered the evening before .. An easy walk to the town centre for a choice of many restaurants… and bars ! Just a tip … we ate at the Ranch.. it was lovely .. But Book before you arrive.. they are extremely busy .. you won’t get in !

Excellent place to stay in Te Anau. Ticked all the boxes. We travel a lot so am fussy. Warm, comfortable beds with electric blankets. Great heater in the room (we were there in the middle of winter). Fantastic shower. Very clean. Easy walk to town. Quiet location. Welcoming friendly host with lots of good suggestions. Could not fault this place at all. Highly recommend. Of course everyone will be going to Milford from here but a visit to the glow worm cave was a surprisingly good trip. Really enjoyed that.

It was perfect for our one night stopover in Te Anau. Comfy beds and super clean! Location was great just a short walk to town. Special mention to Michael we had a lovely chat and he was so very helpful, friendly and full of information. He even gave us milk for our morning coffee! Thank you for a great stay!

A lovely friendly, cheerful welcome from the staff after a long drive. Having the superior queen room was a Blessing, both with the spa bath and being on the ground floor. The room was fresh, spacious, clean and well appointed. Parking in front of or nearby the unit. Bella Vista is situated within easy reach of eateries and shops and the lake area. Also it is a good midway point from Queenstown, if going to Milford Sound or heading Sth, as I did to Invercargill and the Southlands area. Very friendly and helpful staff upon check as well. I thoroughly recommend Bella Vista and look forward to staying there on future trips to the South.

When you stay with Bella Vista you know what to expect and whilst there are subtle nuances that define difference locations, the experience is fundamentally the same. The motel is in a quiet location slightly away from the lake and town centre, but only a 5 to 10 minute walk to both. We stayed in a Queen Studio, which is the next step up from the Compact Queen Studio. There was plenty of room for our suitcases and a large desk area and bathroom. All other aspects were what you would expect from Bella Vista. Immaculately presented and maintained, set in a lovely garden. The host Michael Liang is excellent. He was very helpful to me at the time of my booking and on meeting him, he proved to be an attentive and professional host. Te Anau is a beautiful place and for us it was made all the better by the quality of the accommodation. We would recommend it to family and friends and definitely stay there again.

We've just spent 5 weeks travelling around New Zealand, staying in motels and B&Bs. We stayed in x3 different Bella Vista motels and they were all good. This was the best but probably because we were there x4 nights and in one of the larger rooms. Well located with short walks to both the town centre for shops/restaurants and to the lake. Plenty of parking. A well designed kitchen area, comfortable bed with plents of space generally. Room thoroughly serviced every day. Quiet at night. Helpful and friendly staff, both the cleaners and manager. Should we go back to New Zealand, we'd be happy to again stay in Bella Vista motels wherever we went.

Huge place! Love our room which had two huge beds. Lots of space and extremely clean. The toiletries smelt so good! Staff were really helpful at checkin. The included buffet breakfast was so delicious. The Portuguese custard cups were incredible as were the scrambled eggs. Lots of choices and great staff. The lovely lady who welcomed us was so attentive and helpful. We also had the buffet dinner (it was about $65 each) which I think was well worth the price. The chef carved all four roasts for us :) the food was absolutely delicious and plenty to go around for everyone. The hotel is close to everything. It’s a 2 minute walk to Real NZ (Fiordland bus and cruise depot which we took advantage of for the 7:45am departure) and the jet boat for Manapouri collection points.

We were traveling as a couple- were given a room with 2 double beds , also had 2 comfy chairs and coffee table- plenty of space and a mountain view. Great buffet breakfast. Very clean and quiet. Lovely bar/restaurant across the road- The Red Cliff- worth a visit. Lake and mountains are beautiful of course.

Excellent clean and modern room. Wonderful views too. The staff were very helpful and friendly. This hotel was very spacious and modern. Walking distance to everything and positioned well. Neighbouring restaurant with breakfast included - just excellent. There was abundant on site car parking which was great.

Came as part of a coach tour so we didn’t book this hotel personally. Well situated with bar and two restaurants. Food very good choices and tasty. Room quiet and clean, bed comfortable. However the bathroom in particular needs renovation, very shabby with thin cheap shower curtain and hard to control shower, pressure very good though. For a one night stay fine. Staff very helpful and courteous.

Staff were amazing, rooms were clean and comfortable, the restaurant/bar next door was just as amazing with great food and staff! Breakfast was delicious, a great 1 night stay on the way to Milford Sound. Definitely recommend!

Recently made a stop at the Fiordland Lodge with my husband. We stayed in one of the two cabins on site; the cabins are located a short walk away from the lodge and still have views of the lake and surrounding landscape. It's a little slice of heaven between the afternoon tea and cookies they sneak in your fridge while you're out, the dog that will roam the grounds looking for someone to give her a pet, the beautiful scenery, and central location. Many excursion companies will pick you up at the Lodge or in Te Anau (5 minute drive). We decided to do the sea kayaking at Milford Sound which did not pick up at the hotel. The drive to Milford Sound was about two hours and was beautiful. The hotel can arrange all excursions for you and will rearrange breakfast/dinner around your plans. My only regret is that we didn't have more time in New Zealand. I will say that my husband and I are not super adventurous eaters and we both were worried about what the dinners would consist of (fyi - breakfast and dinner are included in rate and you have two choices for each course at dinner). Overall, the choices were definitely out of our comfort zone (i.e. venison), BUT we tried new types of food and everything was prepared excellently.

The view was priceless and the meals (dinner and breakfast) was fabulous. Definetly 5 star standard..I would give it 6 stars. The dinner was on par with any restaurant that have an average of $100 per person meal. And the breakfast was an absolute delight. If we ever go back to Fiordland, we would stay here again. I did feel a bit out of place since we were probably the youngest couple there. But nonetheless, the staff has made us feel welcomed. Afterwards we booked a 1.5hr helicopter tour to doubtful & dusty sound and the helicopter picked us up right in the lodge’s backyard. That was just awesome. Unfortunatley, that night, the sky was cloudy, so we didnt have a starry night that my wife wanted to stare at, but this has nothing to do with the accommodations. They also have a small dog that runs around the outside of the lodge. I have some phobic fear of any dogs, but this one was quite cute and made me feel comfortable.

Luxury Accommodation with a friendly feel. So welcoming and helpful in every regard. The accommodation itself was incredible and the staff caring for us simply amazing. The food was fantastic, with taste, available selection and presentation. Loved the canapes with drinks before dinner. True quality. Will definitely return.

This was a luxurious stay. The setting is great, the cabin was clean and comfortable. The shower was odd though, as it only has an on and off setting, meaning you can't control the power of the jet, which resulted in excess water spilling over as there is also no way to control the direction of the shower head.

The location was indeed wonderful and spectacular views from the lodge to the moutains and lake. STaff were very attentive and professional - although all we spoke with were international/foreigners and were unfamiliar with some of the surroundings/local knowledge etc. The lodge room on the top floor was very comfortable and quite compact - smaller than most of the suites and rooms we have stayed in in similarly priced properties. Disappointing level of amenities and no pool or spa for guests after a long day which would have been nice. Very peaceful location and great for a break away from civilisation. Food was of a good standard and staff were very happy to help with any requests.

There are many good things to say about this property. Sadly the internet and tv are not among them. We had no internet for most of our stay. The few tv channels are at best abysmal. Parking can be tricky if the motel is full. We had a one bedroom unit which we really liked. It had a very nice modern bathroom with a large walk in shower. The kitchen although smallish was well kitted out. Also a comfortable sitting area including chairs outside the unit. Not much of a view of the lake but we were steps away from the lake which had a terrific esplanade that went for miles. It was an easy walk into town for shopping. The staff were very helpful and accommodating. Lots of fresh towels if needed. The bed was comfortable and the electric blanket was an added bonus for a comfortable sleep. We liked our stay in spite of the other nuisance stuff which shouldn’t be. This is the age of technology and crappy internet and tv is no longer the norm or acceptable.

This is a really great hotel. Really good amenities. Lovely man running it. Everything feels new. Perfect location - 6 min walk (along waterfront) to everything. Room at top front has incredible view and is spacious. We also had a room at ground level towards back, and it was great too. Spacious, clean and great. I am very fussy, and this has been our best find on this trip.

We had a nice stay at the Edgewater. The room was very clean and comfortable. The kitchenette was very well stocked and in good working order. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I recommend staying at the Edgewater!

- Friendly, helpful reception staff - Super close to town; pubs, bars, restaurants, activities - Very well appointed, spacious clean and would also be cosy in winter - Great view straight out the door, of lake & mountains - Well equipped kitchen, full size fridge, insanely comfortable La-z-boy recliner chairs and good size TV with paid TV all included - Quickest internet of any hotel / motel I stayed at in NZ, I was able to upload GoPro footage while I was there, as an added bonus - Bathroom and toilet renovations had been well done, unsure how recent but it improved the place

What can we say, this room, the view, the location, and the facilities were great, wonderful, gold..The bathroom was perfect, yes perfect. There was a bath with a TV, the best shower we have ever seen, wish I had one at home. The kitchen area had everything you need to make breakfast, and dinner. They also provide all that you need to clean up and there is a dishwasher. The view of the lake was great and you could sit outside and enjoy the view with a book or wine. Oh, and the blue lights that come on at night so you can see and not wake up your better half.

Super friendly and accommodating front desk. I really appreciate that they were able to extend my stay for me. Gorgeous spacious apartment that was fresh and bright with natural light throughout. I appreciate the heated towel rack, the French press, fresh glass bottled milk, complementary use of water bottles filled with filtered water to use during one’s stay and a very comfortable bed where I got solid deep sleep in a very quiet accommodation. Beautifully landscaped grounds and personal outdoor seating to relax and enjoy the magnificent views of the lake and the mountains. Easy walking proximity to town center for dining and exploring. I love that they are environmentally conscientious too. Tours can easily be booked at the front desk to save time and maximize fun.

Very nice accommodation. We were on the 1st floor in the original (characterful) side of the property. Great view of the lake (over a relatively quiet road). The room had a lounge/kitchenette, separate from both the toilet and shower room, and at the rear was a large spacious bedroom - so tucked away from any road noise in busier times of the year. All very comfortable and of good quality - the bathroom and toilet looked like a recent refurb. The reception staff were super friendly and allowed us to leave the car parked in the car park whilst we were on an overnight boat cruise of Doubtful Sound - very helpful gesture which was much appreciated. Highly recommend the motel.

Check in was easy with a very welcoming host. We had a bottom level suite in the tahana block and the room was amazing. Everything very clean and modern with fantastic lighting and ample high spec appliances. Particularly loved the sensor lighting in hallway, washer/dryer and 'fireplace'. View of lake was amazing and uninterrupted. Had an accidental breakage during our stay and the host dealt with this in a very fair and friendly way. Overall very impressed and am already trying to change future travel plans to include another stay. Hats off to all staff, you do an amazing job behind the scenes and all the little touches are appreciated.

Most peaceful location in the world! Super quiet, simple county living. Helen baked us a delicious loaf of bread when we arrived, she also had milk, juice, butter and jam for us in the refrigerator. The bed was very comfortable. I had the most peaceful sleep. On the second day, Helen baked us some tasty date cakes. We were very spoiled. Our unit is away from the main house with lots of privacy. There are lots of fun animals as our neighbors, including a very cute, friendly dog, alpaca, and chickens on the farm. I wish we could stay for a lot longer. The property is also in a perfect location within 15 minutes to Te Anu for dinner and 10 minutes to the dock for cruises to the sounds.

Our family of four loved our stay at Kepler Oaks Chalet. The accommodation is immaculate, spacious and comfortable and has everything you need, and the views from every window are incredibly picturesque. The location is perfect, close to town but in a rural idyll and near to all the amazing hikes and lookouts of the surrounding area, including the local river and the Kepler Track. Helen was a wonderful host - the embodiment of New Zealand hospitality. She was super helpful and friendly, with great recommendations about what to do, both before we arrived and once we were there, and we really appreciated the welcome treats, including freshly baked bread. It was great also to interact with the farm animals, especially a new addition – a little lamb. Couldn’t recommend highly enough for a relaxing getaway in Southland.

We had a truly wonderful stay at Kepler Oaks. The location is peaceful and picturesque, offering a perfect base to explore the beauty of Fiordland. Helen was an exceptional host—warm, welcoming, and thoughtful in every detail. The accommodation was clean, cozy, and well-equipped, making us feel right at home. Helen and husband was excellent host, easy to communicate and very hospitable. Right away We felt welcomed and well taken care of. The chalet is spacious, spotless clean, comfortable and well equipped. Best of all, it's surrounded by beautiful open space - farmlands and snow capped mountains. So peaceful. We stayed for a couple of nights in this place. It's such a well thought out chalet and situated in a beautiful location. An amazing experience for us. We were given a warm welcome by David. Waiting in the chalet was freshly baked bread, slices of cake and milk, which was much appreciated. Every day provided fabulous views from the chalet. Words can't do justice. Our daughter loved interacting with the animals nearby. It was a truly memorable experience for us especially with the wood burner, beautiful views, comfortable and spacious rooms, lovely walks, animals to interact with and being closer to nature without feeling too isolated. Easy communication with Helen and David. The Waiau Chalet is a standalone chalet and was perfect for us. Would love to stay again if we get the opportunity

Location perfect for walking to the lake (less than 5 min) or even to city center (a 15 min walk) Helpful and pro-active host, who help us to have an early check-in with a room up-grade. The room was very spacious, clean and with extremely comfortable king bed. The kitchenette is well appointed with all you need to make a quick breakfast or a cup of coffee.

The ground floor room was spacious with its own ensuite, kitchenette and a very nice meal area in front of a bay window. We were at the front of the accommodation with a number of windows so the room felt open and inviting. The bed was comfortable and everything was very clean and tidy. The manager was really helpful and attentive. The motel was in a quiet area opposite part of the lake, with its own free parking. We didn't really have a view but that was not an issue as we were close to everything via a quick drive or walk.

The manager was so friendly and showed us through the room. He upgraded us to a luxurious room at no additional cost. Very modern and spacious rooms. Fantastic walkable location to the Lake and shops/restaurants. We highly recommend staying at the Red Tussock.

Our studio was clean, comfortable, and spacious. We had a full kitchenette with all the dining wares we needed, a patio with a table and chairs, and a large room to spread out in. The host was very friendly and helpful in pointing us to restaurants nearby that did not require reservations.

The staff were very friendly and very helpful. Provided a map of the town with all the good places to go and a map of our route through to Milford with places of interest highlighted and advice for the trip. Every little thing that you could want as a guest and traveller has been thought of - right down to a clean laundry area with a seat and books on shelves so you can wait or iron while you wait for clothes to wash and washing powder. The rooms were quiet, spotlessly clean, comfortable beds, good tv and facilities, spacious bathroom and well appointed kitchen. Fantastic location and exceptional value for money and service.

Wonderful motel, clean, comfortable, and quiet! Lovely decor, felt like a luxury hotel room! We loved it. The staff could not have been more friendly and helpful. We needed to do laundry, they happily gave us the change needed and showed us the laundry and soap. So convenient. It was a very short walk to the lakefront and downtown. We would heartily recommend to everyone!

We had a very comfortable stay. The room was spotlessly clean and warm with the heat pump. Having our own little kitchen was great to prepare our meals although it is in a great location not too far from a good selection of eateries. Comfy bed and shower pressure was great. Good size bathroom. Irene and her husband are very friendly and welcoming, and we absolutely loved their little dog Molly who came to greet us on arrival. We would definitely book again .

Aden Motel is located at a very convenient location: close the supermarket, petrol station and restaurants, while being tucked away on a quiet street. It was amazing to soak in the sight of the snowy mountains when you drive out of the motel. The room is clean and Irene was very helpful when we arrived. It is a great place to stay if you wish to find a location to stay before you head off to Milford Sound or Kepler Track.

We stayed here twice for two nights each. First room was a King on the upper floor - very spacious, clean, comfortable and bed was fabulous. New clean and functional bathroom and a great shower. Had a lovely stay! Our second room a few days later was a Queen on the ground floor, it was an original/older style room set up for wheelchair access so with a big open ‘wet room’ shower. Room was small, kitchenette very small and bathroom old and grotty. Again, a nice comfortable bed. Room was small and dark however and would not wanted to have stayed any longer in this particular room. The owners were fabulous however, and very helpful, so would definitely stay again but request an upstairs room next time.

The beds were very comfortable, and the living room had a cozy, welcoming feel, perfect for relaxing as a family. There was also a small backyard area with a table, which was a lovely spot for us to sit and enjoy meals together. The property offered nice, dedicated car parking, which made things convenient for us. Additionally, the shower area was clean and well-maintained, adding to the overall comfort of our stay.

2N in 2nd floor King/single w/tiny balcony - great $, spacious, comfy, kitchenette, laundry facilities on site (not 24 hr and need $2NZ coins - check with office), hair dryer, iron, etc but NOT Hair Conditioner & body lotion. Great location - quiet, 5-7 min walk to lake & town center w/lots of restaurants, groc, gas stations, pharmacy, theater, etc. Sandfly Cafe and Subway great for food for Milford Sound trip. Only issue was wifi was really bad - struggled to download an airline app, edit pics on my phone, etc. Mentioned at checkout (nobody in office when got back from Milford Sound & not worth calling the after hours #) and she said not normal, would have IT guy check it out.

Older unit but spacious, clean and comfortable. Receptionist at check in was quite exceptional....engaging, helpful and was why we returned following our trip to Milford Sound! Doesn't have kitchen but does have kitchenette which was very useful. Lovely to have a sunny balcony to relax on.

The apartment had everything I needed for a comfortable stay—spacious rooms, cozy furniture, and modern amenities. The kitchen was fully equipped, making it easy to prepare meals, and the bathroom was spotless. The location was also fantastic—quiet, yet conveniently close to shops and restaurants. The host was very responsive and provided clear instructions for check-in, which made the whole process smooth and hassle-free. The perfect midway stop off location when heading to Milford Sound. The room had everything. It was well priced, clean, cosy, the bed was super comfortable with amazing pillows, and a hot water pressure shower hit the spot. I would not hesitate to recommend or stay there again.

A very clean, comfortable, roomy apartment with wonderful views out towards the mountains over the park. We enjoyed the proximity if tbe apartment to the town centre's facilities whilst still being very quiet and calm. The staff were very approachable and attentive and communications pre visit were exceptional.

We really enjoyed our stay at Parklands. It was a perfect location for us - very easy walk to the main strip for groceries, restaurants, cafes etc. We were given a room upgrade which was lovely. The bed and pillows were super comfy, the room itself was pretty modern, really warm and cosy. Staff were really nice at check in and check out too. We would absolutely stay here again.

We had a very comfortable, peaceful stay. Beds were amazing! The motel is in the neighborhood directly across the street from the lake and very similar in style to adjacent motels. It’s a convenient and pleasant walk to the town (about 10 minutes) to restaurants, shops, grocery stores, and ferries. The decor is dated and doesn’t make a great first impression- but don’t let that stop you. Everything is very clean and just what you need, especially if you are spending most of your time on excursions. The kitchenette was very convenient. We did our laundry (coined machines), made egg sandwiches in our kitchenette before an early morning trip and had a sound sleep (great mattress!). If you want no-frills, down-to-earth accommodations at a reasonable price, you found it!

Amber Court hotel is family owned. Owners very friendly and helpful. The room was exceptionally clean and cared for. It is not fancy but perfect for our needs of a good night’s sleep and a kitchenette stocked well to have breakfast and snacks there. Very quiet and beds comfortable. Highly recommend.

Excellent place to stop between QT and Milford Sound to break up the long return drive. Motel is clean and modern with a kitchenette. King bed was super comfy. Hosts were very friendly and as we were checking in the wife ran ahead to open our room and turn on the heater and electric blanket. A very nice touch as it was getting chilly. Te Anau town center is about a ten minute walk with a Fresh Choice market, restaurants , and pubs. Te Anau Lake is a block or two from the motel. Wake up bright and early for a leisurely drive with plenty of stops to Milford Sound and catch the first cruise at 1045am. Beat all the tour buses there and back to Queenstown.

Perfect in every way. Located in a quiet street with large very clean rooms which were serviced daily. Everything you need is provided including plunger coffee and quality tea. 200m walk to lakefront and about 10 minute walk to shops and restaurants. We used it as a base to explore Milford , Te Anau, Manapouri. Staff were delightful and very helpful. Highly recommended. 😀

A great place to stay when exploring the Milford, Te Anau, Manapouri area. A few minutes walk to the lake front and about 10 minutes walk to shops and restaurants. Situated in a quiet street. Will stay again.

Staff were really friendly and helpful. Room was comfortable and clean, shared spaces well supplied with all we needed to prepare food. On the lakeside road in town, quiet and close to everything. The hottub was a bonus.

We loved this Park! Great location right on the lake, easy walk to the town for restaurants etc. 5 minute walk to the Glow Worms tour departures jetty/office. Mike the owner, and his staff could not have been more friendly, helpful and welcoming. Mike let us (family of 4) use his family's bikes for free. The park even has segregated hot tubs for $30 an hour, and a sauna. The room was comfortable and spacious. The camp kitchen was clean and well-equipped. We were given a box of kitchen utensils and pots/pans to use for our stay. We had a cabin without a bathroom - the camp bathrooms were clean and the shower amazing!!!

The staff were so welcoming and friendly! Upgraded our room which was lovely. The room itself was clean and had everything we needed. Snuggly linen and beds made up. Very clean and smart bathroom! Great amenities and so close to town, the lake and playground. We used the hot tub which was bliss and the sauna which was relaxing. Can’t wait to rebook.

We had a wonderful stay! Mike was incredibly welcoming and helpful, and Kraige was great too. The room was one of the cleanest and most well-maintained we’ve seen—warm, cozy, and comfortable. Our car had a mechanical issue during our stay, and Mike went out of his way to help us get in touch with a mechanic, which we really appreciated. The location is perfect—right in the centre, surrounded by beautiful lakes and gardens, with everything easily accessible. Highly recommended

We booked the twin room with private bath room and it was fantastic. Everything was clean and the bathroom appears brand new. The beds were so comfortable and the linen used was soft and good quality. It was hard to get up in the morning because the beds were so comfortable! Parking is easy and the location is very central. Staff were helpful and friendly. Fantastic value for money!

We had a great stay at Alpine View Motel. The room was very clean (even the sheets and towels smelt clean), the location was quiet and it was very comfortable for our family of five. We were given a generous bottle of milk upon arrival and the kitchen had all the key things we needed to make breakfast each morning. My children particularly enjoyed the on-site playground and it was a very easy walk to both the lake and into town. Thank you for a great stay.

For a motel this place is actually really great. We ended up having 2 rooms and 3 beds (two queen and one single) for 2 people, which honestly we didn’t need but hey, why not. John and his mom were super sweet and accommodating, the beds were comfortable, we had a full kitchenette so if you feel like heating or storing some food or making tea, coffee it’s all at your fingertips and they even offer you milk at reception for the coffee. Room was clean, and there are heated blankets and ample extra blankets because it gets a bit chilly in Te Anau. Bathroom was spacious and we loved that the toilet had a separate room. Plenty of onsite parking, one assigned to each room so no worries about where to leave the car. The town center is a 4 min walk from the motel making it easy access to literally everything from food to supermarket.

Such a warm welcome, complete with a free map, cookies and great local advice. The location was perfect, walkable to local restaurants and the lake, and a good starting point for our drive to Milford Sound. The space was simple but functional and comfortable. The kitchen was basic but we managed to cook well, particularly with the hot plate with inbuilt pan. It was quiet and peaceful overnight. They kindly looked after our luggage for free when we went for a night at Milford Sound (there is a small charge if you aren’t returning for another nights stay with them ).

A quiet spot with amazing views everywhere! Clean. Welcoming staff. Te Anau is a nice welcoming town.

Fantastic lake and Mountain View from the room and balcony. Had everything needed in the room, even a box of tissues. All clean. Near to the centre and staff very helpful and friendly.

Great location on lakefront. Slept in lovely lit, comfortable beds in fully equipped tents with access to clean toilet/shower/kitchen facilities. Complimentary coffee/tea. Good kitchen and large communal fridge space. Clean hostel with lovely garden spaces for bbq and eating out with friends. Triple room and kitchenette also clean and comfy for families. We did a combination of 2 man tent and 3 (adult) kids in triple room. Worked well! Easy 5min walk to lots of restaurants. Highly recommend this stay and you MUST do the glow work caves tour. Extremely well done!

Comfy beds in the glamping tent. Cosy setup. Plenty of fridge space, sinks, utensils and appliances in the shared kitchen. Free tea, coffee and milk. Nice view from the shared lounge area, and nice places to sit outside too. Some of the bathrooms are quite modern and all facilities seemed clean. When we stayed the other guests were quiet and courteous. Short walk into town. Parking on site of nearby on street. Has friendly cats.

Modern, comfortable and spacious room. Impressed with the cleanliness! Very comfortable bed. Well-maintained and decorated. Minimal bathroom amenities but had everything we needed. Good location - right on the lake and walkable distance to cafes/restaurant area. Perfect for 2 nights stay.

I had a private room conveniently located next to communal bathrooms that were clean and comfortable to use. There was a beverage station right across from my room where I could make coffee or tea and had access to use the refrigerator. My cabin was lovely, cozy and the bed very comfortable. The grounds were very nice. I loved this place! The staff were really helpful and the location was perfect- right across from the lake and walking distance to the town center - which was lovely.

This was our third stay over a ten day period. Again a very friendly welcome. We stayed in room 8A towards the back of the complex, the room has a shared kitchenette area with rooms 8B & C. Everything was very clean and comfortable. The rooms look like they’ve recently been renovated. With new bathroom fixtures and fittings. Excellent location for restaurants and bars about 29 minute walk away.

We had such a great time staying here. We booked the very quirky and very funky Gypsy Caravan as something totally different the first night. It's tiny, and fun, and an experience! Exactly what we hoped for. The best hotel manager we have encountered, Kym (you rock!) took great care of us, fresh baked cookies, a restaurant booking at the local Tapas bar and a recommendation to the cinema to see the film on the local Fjordlands NP (do recommend) We wanted to stay another night and chose the amazing Train carriage, which was heaps of fun and quite spacious and comfortable. We can only say thank you Kym :-) We had such a great time and have told everyone about the incredible service, lovely food and care that you put into this place. Cheers Matt and Liz

We have just completed an amazing three nights at the Te Anau Lodge. What a beautiful, eclectic, and eccentric property! Central to our positive experience at this rebuilt nunnery was the Lodge Administrator, Ms. Kym Trapski. Her smiling face greeted us one afternoon at check-in and things just got better from there. Kym showed us around the lodge pointing out items of interest (Confessional - luggage elevator) and items of necessity (Library, Breakfast Room). When she showed us to our room, Mother Superior’s, she promised to tiptoe in to the kitchen each morning so as not to disturb us during breakfast preparations. There was such friendliness and pride in her voice, it seemed as if this was her own home. From Milford Sound cruising, to Rainbow Reach hiking, to dinner ideas, Kym was quick to answer our questions, give advice, and make bookings for us when requested. This truly led to enhancing our three day experience in Te Anau. We enjoyed the atmosphere of the community breakfast room and meeting new friends in the library at night. Te Anau Lodge is an incredible property. We would argue that it is the best of accommodations in this tourist town. It is an inviting and comfortable place to spend several nights. Under Kym Trapski’s leadership, it rises to another level. This is the only accommodation in Te Anau that we would recommend. The rest appear very pedestrian. Book early to get the best choice of rooms as there is a great variety available.

In order for us to wonderful experience in Milford sound, she helped us to change our Milford sound cruise booking from afternoon to morning on so that we were able to enjoy peaceful scenery in Milford sound in the morning and hike several beautiful trails in the afternoon on the way back to Te Anau. Since we need to leave the lodge 6 am to catch 8:45 am cruise in Milford Sound, Kim packed breakfast for us the night before. She made us feel so welcome and so cared, we feel like we were staying a close friend’s house. We stayed in the Bishop Retreat the first night and Fiordland Carriage (train) the second night. We enjoyed both accommodations which provided us “back-to-history” experience. We also enjoyed delicious breakfast in the classic dinning room. The library in the lodge provides complimentary drinks and snacks and an opportunity to meet and chat with other guests. We highly recommend the lodge.

We stayed for three nights in the Chapel room on the upper floor next to the Library. Comfortable basic room with a large bathroom and two windows. The library was lovely and there were almost always treats out and free wine and beer in the fridge. The covered balcony off the library was a pleasant spot to enjoy a snack or read. Some noise from the Library at night with guests meeting up and talking loudly but it quieted down after about 10:30pm. Breakfast was a buffet that included fruit, breads and sweet rolls, cereals and hot items like (scrambled eggs, sausage, tomatoes, baked beans..). It was a bit hectic on a couple of mornings - not a lot of room and crowded when all guests arrive to eat at the same time. As others have said, Kym was a fantastic host, making reservations at the best restaurants (where she apparently has standing reservations she can fill for guests) and just enjoyable to talk to. Fun wandering around the property to see the blooming shrubs, the pond, the lawn art and the other accommodations. Be sure to see the book in the Library about the history of the convent and the move to its current location Free use of the washer and dryer in the laundry.
